She may be a star because of Teen Mom, but Amber Portwood and Matt Baier are not interested in a TV wedding, according to sources close to the couple.
Despite reports that the 24-year-old is planning to walk down the aisle with Baier for a Teen Mom special event, a family insider insists that is not the case.
In fact, such a thing “has never even been discussed” with the network.
“Amber wants the wedding to be very private,” the source claims.
“Only her close friends and family will be invited.”
In any event, Amber Portwood and Matt Baier, 43, have been together less than a year at this point, and haven't gotten too far in the planning process.
“She wants to decompress at home in Indiana and really take the time to plan something special. She wants it to be perfect,” says the inside source.
“Between filming, school (she just started taking college classes) and promoting her book (Never Too Late) Amber has been extremely busy lately."
When they do happen, the nuptials will be in her home state of Indiana, the source says, adding that family and especially her daughter, Leah, will be involved.
Brother Shawn Portwood and her cousin Krystal will also be on hand.
It’s a happy ending to a tough stretch for the reality star, whose father Shawn Portwood Sr. died at the age of 50 in December following liver surgery.
All the while, she is at odds with her baby daddy Gary Shirley and Kristina Anderson, his new girlfriend, given their custody issues and their tumultuous past.
If you watch Teen Mom online, you saw Kristina trash Amber's parenting on the most recent episode, but the source insists the MTV star is moving on.
“She’s not angry,” the insider says, adding that things are good right now. “She’s happy in her relationship and isn’t letting those comments get her down.”
Here's hoping that positive attitude and behavioral trend continues.
