Kate Middleton is reportedly keeping members of Britain's royal family at bay when it comes to access to her first born child, Prince George of Cambridge.
Yes, the only commoner to marry a royal in centuries is shunning the second in line to the throne, Prince Charles, and other prominent regal figures.
According to the Daily Mail, Charles is embroiled in increasingly frequent conflict with the in-laws, a.k.a. the Middletons, and not necessarily winning.
The underlying issue is said to be the role (or lack thereof) he plays in Prince George's life and Prince Williams' obvious closeness to Kate's family.
Considering George is his only grandchild, Charles is vexed that he rarely sees the toddler and complains to friends about the "march of the Middletons."
This is not the first we've heard about Kate, desperate for privacy and normalcy, trying to keep royal family members away from her son at all costs.
Still, it's evidence that her plan is working, and to a surprising extent, even beyond moving George out of London. Says a source close to the family:
"Carole [Kate's mother] has rather taken over, dictating when George naps, when and what he eats. All in all, behaving like she's Queen Carole."
As for the role Prince William would have to play in this, it's no accident or secret that he has long viewed Kate as his equal, despite his royal status.
In fact, some observers speculate that William has intentionally prevented George from bonding with Charles to avoid history repeating itself.
William reportedly resents his own rigid childhood, whereas he believes frequent interactions with the Middletons offer his son a more normal life.
Despite the mounting rumors surrounding a rift between the royal family members, a Clarence House spokesman insisted that all is very much well.
"We would not comment on the specifics of private arrangements, [however] His Royal Highness enjoys an excellent relationship with his grandson."
Still, reports of tension with Charles and even Kate's alleged war with Queen Elizabeth II continue to surface, and we're guessing will continue to.
The Queen was reportedly left fuming and even accused Kate of breaking "decades of protocol" when she snubbed the monarch over the holidays.
We'll have more on her supposed feud with Charles and the royals in the coming weeks and months, as it's obviously a recurring source of friction.
