19 Kids and Counting Season 15 Episode 4 Recap: Ride Alongs and Wedding Prep

by at .

Much of the new season of TLC's hit reality show has focused on Jessa and Jill Duggar, but 19 Kids and Counting Season 15 Episode 4 was a little different.

This installment centered around Jana Duggar and the maligned, beautiful, saintly oldest sister's ongoing plight as she's forced to cater to everyone else.

Just kidding! That would go against everything the reality TV family stands for (making her do all the work while they bask in joys of marriage and fame).

Jana Duggar commentary aside, here's a rundown of last night's dual installments, which you can see in full if you watch 19 Kids and Counting online ...

On 19 Kids and Counting Season 15 Episode 4, Josh, Anna, Jim Bob and John David Duggar got the bulk of the screen time, as opposed to Jessa and Ben.

The twin brother of Jana Duggar, John David Duggar, 25, works construction. Naturally, he decided to show mom Michelle, 48, how to use an excavator.

Michelle Duggar likened the experience to baking brownies. Something like that. John David is also a police officer somehow, and he dad to work there.

There's not a lot of crime in Tontitown, Arkansas, so other than pulling someone over for having a headlight out, it was a quiet night for the two of them.

Except for Jim Bob noisily chowing on snacks. That was pretty noisy and probably more than a little distracting to John David's official police business.

When it came time for 19 Kids and Counting Season 15 Episode 5, Jessa Duggar's forthcoming wedding to Ben Seewald returned to the TLC forefront.

"I just call 'em flowers. I don't know any flower names," said the most low frills, non-bridezilla bride of all time, as she prepped for her special day.

Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald, 19, also received their wedding invitations courtesy of eldest brother Josh Duggar, 27, and they were thrilled with them.

So was their "outside advisor," so they must have been pretty good.

Jinger Duggar, 21, was tasked with giving a second opinion in case Jessa and Ben were "too in love" to be impartial and see flaws, and was duly impressed.

Jinger also helped Ben with designing Jessa's wedding band, as the two of them went to the store and tried to find the ideal match for her engagement ring.

"I can't wait to see her face when I slide it on her finger," Ben said.

While the future Mrs. Seewald pretty much knew what her beau was up to, she said she'd wait to be surprised if that's what her fiance had in mind for her.

Other Duggar family news and notes from last night:

  • Josh Duggar took kids Mackynzie and Michael to the music store, where they found that banging on some things (drums) is socially acceptable!
  • Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard took a break from sledding over cats to make a care package for Derick's mother, Cathy, who is battling cancer.
  • Jason and James Duggar, 14 and 13, prepared a pair of pies for Jessa and Ben's rehearsal dinner, and they were surprisingly not bad!
  • Josh is not good at cooking. Just ask Anna.

Until next week in the Natural State!
