Dancing with the Stars? It was more like dancing with the sharks for Katy Perry during her Super Bowl halftime show last night.

While the artist rode on to the stage aboard a giant fake lion – and also grinded with Lenny Kravitz and got down with Missy Elliott during her lengthy set – viewers were most taken with Perry dancing alongside a shark during her rendition of "Teenage Dream."

And now it’s time to meet the man underneath that shark costume.

His name is Scott Myrick.

He’s been blowing up online today because he’s been writing about the experience on social media. And also because he looks like this with his shirt off:

“And that everyone, is what it feels like to have your heart explode. I’ve never been more proud to be a part of something in my life,” Myrick Tweeted after the show.

“Tonight was a feeling and moment in time that I will never, ever forget. Thank you for all the support everyone. Thanks be to Jesus, aka @katyperry for this shark takeover. You called it gurllllll.”

Myrick was also featured on the November 2013 Entertainment Weekly cover opposite Perry – and he’s where it gets really interesting…

Scott Myrick is the reason Perry is feuding with Taylor Swift.

In 2011, Myrick was a backup dancer on Perry’s California Dreams world tour. Afterwards, he earned a spot on Swift’s Red tour.

About halfway through Taylor’s tour, Myrick and another dancer were contacted by Perry’s camp to leave and rejoin Katy for a handful of concerts. They agreed; they left Swift for Perry; and a rivalry between two of music’s most famous singers was born.

Swift mentioned the incident (without directly naming Perry) in a September interview with Rolling Stone, saying.

“She did something so horrible," Taylor said of her unnamed nemesis. "I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies.’ And it wasn’t even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour."

So that’s Scott Myrick for you. He has a six amazing abs and now two crazy stories to tell.
