Rosie Perez placed her foot squarely in her mouth on The View yesterday.
Fortunately, the talk show panelist took it out and wiped it off almost immediately.
With the condition of Bobbi Kristina Brown on the minds of many in Hollywood - at last report, the young star was fighting for her life - Perez addressed the situation on her return to the program Tuesday.
And the 50-year-old actress cited Lifetime's Whitney Houston biopic, which recently premiered on cable, as a major source of blame.
"Just thought about the movie that came out, and this is no disrespect to Angela Bassett because I love [her], but this unauthorized bio of her mom must have killed her," Rosie said.
She then quickly realized the word she used.
"That was terrible phrasing," she corrected. "It must have hurt her deeply to watch that. We forget these people are human beings. We put them into the tabloids, and we forget they're human beings."
That is a far more fair assessment.
Bobbi Kristina, of course, remains alive, hospitalized after falling unconscious in her bathtub last Saturday.
Sources now say that drugs were found at the scene, though no further details are available and doctors have yet to announced a diagnosis.
However, insiders now also say that the friend who helped revive Bobbi Kristina was named Max Lomas. He's a known drug dealer.
