Tyler Baltierra and Catelynn Lowell welcomed their second child on January 1, but what should've been cause for celebration has not been without controversy.
The Teen Mom tandem, together since middle school, has subsequently been forced to defend their decision to give their child up for adoption ... in 2009.
No sooner did we learn that Catelynn Lowell gave birth to daughter Nova Reign than the critics began weighing in on the fate of their first child, Carly.
The couple welcomed Carly on MTV's 16 and Pregnant, and their challenging decision to place her up for adoption has long been a Teen Mom topic.
They remain a part of her life, respecting her adopted parents' wishes to not share pictures of her, and made the decision to raise their second daughter.
To us, there's nothing that unusual about this, but Cate and Ty have faced some online opposition for the way things played out, and they're not happy.
"So sick of the ignorance in the world. Just because you place a child for adoption doesn't mean youre not allowed to have another #GetReal," Baltierra wrote.
While they called off their July wedding after a stint on VH1's Couples Therapy, Baltierra presented Lowell with a second engagement ring for Christmas.
They appear to be on very firm ground romantically, and there's little doubt that the pair have been blissfully enjoying parenthood the second time around.
"Having her here feels unreal but actually taking her home feels even more unreal. I actually get to be happy about leaving the hospital," Tyler tweeted.
"Crying happy tears instead of sad ones feels AMAZING!" Baltierra gushed.
"I don't have to be heartbroken this time #EmotionalDaddy #DontMindMe."
You don't, Tyler, and we won't. We won't.
