In the wake of yesterday's shocking-not shocking Andi Dorfman and Josh Murray breakup, many fans have taken to the Internet asking one of two questions:
- WHY ... on earth did it take them this long?!
Some skeptics (cough, Nick) felt they were not a good fit, the romance was superficial and a split was inevitable, but by and large they seemed happy.
What went south between the Atlanta residents so fast?
“In the end it was more of a business partnership than a relationship,” a source close to the couple said, to the surprise of ... maybe not that many people.
Still, the abruptness of it all was a bit of a shocker.
Andi Dorfman and Josh Murray, who got engaged and were planning a Spring 2015 wedding, were seen in public together on ABC this past Monday.
The network kicked off The Bachelor season premiere with a red carpet event and interviews with past franchise stars, including Andi and Josh.
Apparently, that very night was the nail in the coffin.
"They couldn’t pretend anymore," says the insider.
“Producers were always forcing them to make appearances together and act a certain way and it got old. Going to the premiere together was the last straw."
Sure enough, reps for Dorfman and Murray jointly issued a statement Thursday confirming that the former lovebirds have parted ways, effective now:
“After several months of being engaged and working on our relationship, we have decided that it’s best for both of us to go our separate ways."
"We are very sad that it has come to this point," the statement said on Josh and Andi's behalf, "but this is what’s best for both of us individually."
In conclusion, they "will continue to be good friends and have nothing but great things to say about each other and wish each other the best.”
Somehow we doubt that, but it sounds diplomatic.
Are you surprised? Sad? Apathetic? Where does Andi now rank among Bachelorette stars in terms of relationship length with her final rose winner?
