Rapper Meek Mill was released from a Philadelphia city jail yesterday after nearly five months of incarceration.

Mill was locked up for violating the terms of his probation by going on tour over the summer.

Mill – real name Robert Williams – was required to complete a variety of treatment programs before he could be released, including drug rehab and anger management.

The rapper’s had his share of brushes with the law in the past. Just before being locked up, Mill was involved in the Drake-Chris Brown club brawl that took place over the summer.

It seems his time in lock-down hasn’t cooled Mill down, however. Just hours after being released, he posted a self-shot video of his fans and friends celebrating by dancing around a cop car with lights and sirens blaring.

The probation sentence that eventually landed Meek behind bars stemmed from a 2009 conviction fro drug and gun possession.

The prosecutor in his case asked for a sentence of five to ten years, but Mill was able to convince a judge that his freedom is essential to his career, which he said provides support for several people, including his mother and son.

It’s been a tumultuous couple of years for Mill. In June of 2013, his friend and protege Lil Snupe was killed at the age of 18.
