Elizabeth Vargas has voluntarily checked back into a rehab facility.
The 20/20 anchor entered a program last fall for alcohol addiction and said via statement that she fell off the wagon during a recent family vacation and agreed to another round of treatment over the weekend.
"As so many other recovering alcoholics know, overcoming the disease can be a long and incredibly difficult process," Vargas said. "I feel I have let myself, my co-workers and most importantly my family down and for that I am ashamed and sorry."
Vargas is married to singer Marc Cohen and the couple has two children together.
With ABC “squarely behind her,” Vargas added that she’s “committed to battling and addressing this debilitating disease," expressing gratitude for the support she's received.
"We look forward to having her back at ABC News when she feels ready to return," said an spokesperson.
Following last year’s stint in rehab, Vargas appeared on Good Morning America and said she’s an alcohol. She said she’s suffered panic attacks for as long as she can remember.
I dealt with that anxiety, and with the stress that the anxiety brought, by starting to drink," she said in the interview.
We wish the reporter, who has been with ABC since 1996, a full and healthy recovery.
