An execution in Texas took an odd and eerie turn Thursday night when Richard Cobb was asked for his final words.

The 29-year old – convicted of capital murder 11 yeas ago for the killing of a man in a field, following a convenience store robbery – initially told onlookers:

“Life is death, death is life. I hope that someday this absurdity that humanity has come to will come to an end. Life is too short. I hope anyone that has negative energy towards me will resolve that.

“Life is too short to harbor feelings of hatred and anger. That’s it, warden.”

But that wasn’t it.

Just prior to the lethal injection taking effect, Cobb raised his head off the pillow and added:

“Wow! That is great. That is awesome! Thank you, warden! Thank you (expletive) warden!”

Cobb’s head then fell back on the pillow, his neck twisted to the side and he remained that way until a doctor pronounced him dead.

Among those who witnessed the execution were the father, stepmother and stepbrother of Cobb’s victim.
