Under fire from producers for cancelling Buckwild, MTV says it continuing the show without deceased cast member Shain Gandee did not feel right.

JP Williams ripped MTV for the move, alleging hypocrisy for axing it due to Gandee’s accidental death while glorifying train wrecks like Jenelle Evans.

But the network says it isn’t that simple.

A rep for MTV says that “Given Shain Gandee‘s tragic passing and essential presence on the show, we felt it was not appropriate to continue without him.”

The decision was not a knee-jerk response, and the network says “we are working on a meaningful way to pay tribute to his memory on our air and privately.”

MTV says that coming up this weekend, it is planning “special day of programming dedicated to Shain in which we will air the entire first season of Buckwild.”

What do you think? Appropriate handling of the situation?
