Ke$ha Responds to "Die Young" Controversy, Sends Thoughts to Newtown Victims

by at . Comments

In response to the horrific Connecticut shooting that claimed the lives of 26 Newtown residents last week, radio stations have nearly ceased their playing of Ke$ha's "Die Young."

The name of the track explains why.

How does the artist feel about this (relatively inconsequential) side effect of the tragedy?

Ke$ha initially Tweeted an odd message yesterday, saying she understands and "had my very own issue with 'die young' for this reason. I did NOT want to sing those lyrics and I was FORCED TO."

A strange claim, considering Ke$ha co-wrote the track.

But she later deleted this Tweet and sent her sympathies to all touched by the massacre:

"I'm so so so sorry for anyone who has been effected by this tragedy.and I understand why my song is now inappropriate. words cannot express."

The entertainment world has been doing all it can to send prayers and thoughts to Newtown, Connecticut residents.

Ellen DeGeneres dedicated her show yesterday to the victims, while David Letterman took a break from comedy and said the incident simply made him feel sad.
