Chrystal Workman Issues Statement, Denies Abuse Claims Against Ariel Winter

Chrystal Workman is the mother of 14-year old Modern Family star Ariel Winter.

In light of claims of physical and emotional abuse against her child, which have led to a judge ordering Winter into the custody of her sister, Workman has issued a statement that attempts to explain the situation.

"I love my daughter very much. I would never abuse her in anyway and I have always tried my best to always protect her and do what is right for her," writes Workman.

So, from where did these allegations stem?

"My fourteen-year-old daughter has been dating an eighteen-and-a-half-year-old man, and when I caught them engaging in behavior that I feel my daughter is too young mentally and physically to understand and fully grasp I put a stop to it immediately," Workan added.

She says she filed a report with the LA County Sheriff's Department "because legally he is an adult and if he wants to engage in adult behavior with a minor than [sic] he should also be ready to suffer adult consequences for his actions."

The report in question states that Workman walked in on Winter and this unnamed boyfriend on September 24.

HOWEVER, TMZ notes that the report was not filed until five days after Workman lost custody of Winter and two weeks after the alleged incident took place.

It's hard not to wonder what could have caused that delay and whether the story is valid, especially considering Ariel's sister, Shanelle, was also removed from Workman's home as a child.

The actress' brother has gone on record with a defense of his mother and let's all just hope this gets worked out in a fast, healthy manner for all involved.
