Saturday Night Live alum Tina Fey returned to reprise her role as Sarah Palin in a debate sketch of potential Republican presidential candidates this weekend.

Introduced as “current famous person Sarah Palin,” Fey wasted no time launching into her pitch-perfect impression of the ’08 GOP vice presidential nominee.

“It’s so nice to be back on FOX News, a network that both pays me and shows me the questions ahead of time,” Fey gushed as Palin. “I just hope tonight the lamestream media won’t twist my words by repeating them verbatim.”

These two make an unbeatable political team. The actors, that is.

“First, I want to acknowledge that we have finally vanquished one of the world’s great villains. I for one am thrilled to say good riddance to Katie Couric!” she added.

SNL may fall flat much of the time, but political sketches like this have always been – and remain – must-watch material. Having Tina as host doesn’t hurt.

While Fey was terrific, Bill Hader (as Fox News’ Shepard Smith) and Darrell Hammond (reprising his role as Donald Trump) really stole the show here.

Watch it after the jump …
