The hunt for accused murderer Ryan Jenkins is over after he was found dead at the Thunderbird Motel in Hope, British Columbia, near Vancouver.
The reality TV star was wanted for the grisly murder of his wife, swimsuit model and Playboy rep Jasmine Fiore, two Fridays ago in Orange County.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police’s Federal Border Integrity Unit say it’s believed the 32-year-old, who is a native of Canada, took his own life.
“We aren’t releasing the official cause of death at this time,” Sgt. Duncan Pound said. “The preliminary evidence at this time appears to be a suicide.”
Ryan Jenkins was discovered dead by motel staff and identified by fingerprints after eluding police for a week and escaping the U.S. to Canada.
He was wanted in California for first-degree murder charges.
Ryan Jenkins’ body was found hanging, according to law enforcement sources.
The manager of the motel says Ryan Jenkins checked in on Friday, dropped off by a woman in her 20s who drove a PT Cruiser with Alberta license plates.
She stayed for 20 minutes and left. The room was paid for two days.
When Jenkins didn’t check out Sunday, the manager checked on him. When there was no answer, he entered and found Ryan hanging by his belt from a coat rack.
His body was found around 5:00 PST.
Lt. Steve Holliday of Buena Park PD told the press that “The sadness of this is all is that Mr. Jenkins will not stand before an Orange County jury for his crime.”
The mutilated remains of Jasmine Fiore were found in a suitcase in Buena Park, Calif., on August 15. The blonde’s fingers and teeth had been cut off and pulled out, but she was able to be identified by the serial numbers of her breast implants.
Jenkins was a finalist on VH1’s Megan Wants A Millionaire, starring Megan Hauserman. It was airing this summer but was pulled in light of Jenkins’ alleged crime.
