I say Merry Christmas as it is a celebration of Christ's birth. It isn't about giving gifts - although nice. When someone says Happy Holidays to me I simply say " Thank You and Merry Christmas to you". If you do not celebrate Christ's birth then don't celebrate Christmas period.
