Move over, Cal-Stanford.

Take a seat for a moment, Alabama-Auburn.

The ending to Saturday afternoon’s Michigan State-Michigan game would like to join your conclusions in all-time college football lore.

Michigan held a 23-21 lead with 10 seconds remaining. The team faced a fourth down around midfield and Michigan State was out of timeouts.

All the Wolverines had to do was get off a punt of virtually any length off in order to win the game; move to 7-1; re-establish its as the state’s powerhouse; and remain in contention for national title.

Then the ball was snapped… the punter dropped it… picked it up… had it knocked from his hands… and it miraculously flew directly into the arms of a Michigan State defender.

38 adventurous yards later, Michigan State had score a literal last-second touchdown and won the game 27-23, leaving nearly every sports fan around the country to sit and wonder:

WHAT THE HECK JUST HAPPENED?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
