Back in May of 2015, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard found themselves in some potentially serious trouble with the Australian government.

While Depp was down under filming Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Yes, Another One, he and his wife were accused of smuggling their dogs into the country in violation of biosecurity laws.

At one point, there was talk of Heard facing ten years in prison, but we all knew that was never gonna happen.

Obviously, the Aussies hoped to make an example of Depp and Heard, but the idea of a celebrity getting thrown in jail for illegal Yorkies is a tad ridiculous.

Amber and Johnny won’t be getting locked up, their dogs won’t be put down, and they won’t even be on the receiving end of a swift Aussie boot to the ass like in that classic Simpsons episode. But that doesn’t mean they got off scot-free.

Depp and Heard recorded the video below as there way of making amends for sneaking 12 pounds of pure, uncut terrier into Sydney:

“Australia is a wonderful island with a treasure trove of unique plants, animals and people,” Amber tells the camera.

"It has to be protected," her husband mumbles, clearly not too thrilled aboutr his latest role.

Some have criticized Depp for the fact that his delivery couldn’t feel more coerced if there were an actual gun to his head, but whether the Australian government likes it or not, the actor has now fulfilled his obligation.

You know Tim Burton was just off camera encouraging him to ham it up a bit.
