Love love love Christina but that was awful!! Oversang it! Her voice is beautiful too bad she ruined it with all the runs. Did not do justice to Etta at all.

Am I the only one who hopes for the time of the vocal exercise singers to be over and done with?
In tribute to Etta, Christina demolished her signature song,
she has great range and a good voice,
but doesn't need to oversell it,
just sing it true,
then maybe the torch can be properly passed.

Wasn't feelin' it. Oversang, and just simply not gospel (which the accompaniment was playing), not jazz, & not blues. It wasn't the business. It was just Christina doin' what Christina does best. No doubt about it: She's got the pipes, she just doesn't have the style nor technique to do it right. In other words, when it comes to soul music, it's not about overdoin' the runs, it's about wholly complimenting the music with charisma, spirit, message, and choosin' your tonality wisely.
