We love Zac Efron.

We've dedicated hours and hours to photo montages of the High School Musical star, praising his mature relationship with Vanessa Hudgens, talent as an actor and, of course, hair.

And this is how he repays us?!?

In an interview with The Los Angeles Times, Efron cited the celebrity gossip source closest to his heart. The Hollywood Gossip can only assume we're second...

“There could be 100 tabloid articles about crazy stuff that perhaps involves me and they would all go unnoticed," Efron said. "But as soon as [Perez Hilton] has a single post, inevitably I get like 10 or 20 phone calls from friends or family, or whoever, and so it seems like it’s going in his favor, it seems like what Perez says goes. I laugh about it. I’m just flattered that he’s nice. I don’t know how I got so lucky."

Perhaps if we drew penises on photos and made crude, easy jokes, Zac Efron would like us more!

Zac Efron will no longer be cutting footloose.

Two years after he was in talks to reprise the role of Kevin Bacon from the 1984 classic, the actor has dropped out of the film.

"Footloose is a project we've longed to see re-booted for a new generation. While Zac is no longer attached, we remain excited and committed to the collective brain trust of [director] Kenny Ortega, [producers] Neil Meron and Craig Zaden, who will reinvigorate the franchise," said a Paramount Pictures representative.

Zac Efron is looking to do more than just sing and dance on screen.

Reportedly, Efron abandoned the movie because he's trying to take on more varied roles.

The High School Musical star is currently promoting the comedy 17 Again, which opens in theaters this April. He'll also star in the drama Me and Orson Welles, alongside Claire Danes.

Good to see Zanessa weathering yet another storm.

Apparently unfazed by her boyfriend's recent naked romp with a hot model, Vanessa Hudgens filled up her tank (while Zac Efron sat in the car) in L.A. Thursday ...

"There was, like, a giant sandbox in the middle of a studio, and then I just got to roll around in the dirt for a couple of hours," he tells Milk director Gus Van Sant, who conducted the Q&A with Zefron for the publication.

"I got pretty dirty by the end of it, so that was fun. It was definitely different from anything I had ever done before," the stud added.

Mmm hmm. Wonder how Vanessa Hudgens feels about that ...

Zac Efron fans will need to wait another month until his next big screen foray, 17 Again, hits theaters.

But those Down Under enjoyed an early treat, as the movie premiered in Australia this week - and Efron himself was on hand for the screening!

As usual, Zac was attacked by fans on the red carpet. But he wasn't alone.

Taylor Swift also made an appearance at the event, posing for pictures with the High School Musical star. No way there's anything going on between these two, right? Right?!?

According to rumors - which ought to be taken with a grain of salt bigger than High School Musical 3's box office haul - Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens are planning a September wedding in Hawaii.

Sources say the stars may be "young, but they know it’s the real thing.”

"The proposal was something Zac had been thinking about for a while," said an insider. "They are both really excited about the wedding; it will be a star-studded day. They fell in love with Hawaii while there for a friend’s wedding. And Vanessa wants to get married on a beach so it’s perfect."

He May Kiss the Bride? As a possible wedding preview, Zac Efron plants a peck on the cheek of Vanessa Hudgens.

Following the Vanessa Hudgens nude photo scandal of 2007, some fans reacted in horror.

Other reacted with glee.

But one person familiar with the actress interpreted the pictures as a sign that her son was all grown up. The racy images, after all, were intended for the eyes of Zac Efron.

As a result, the High School Musical star told Elle magazine that his mother gave him a surprising, responsible gift this past holiday season.

"My stocking was full of condoms this Christmas. She buys me the economy box," he said.

The whole world now knows that Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens are having sex. But at least they're being safe about it.
