Willow Smith used The Queen Latifah Show stage yesterday to both sing and defend herself.

First, the artist performed a rendition of her single "Summer Fling," belting out lyrics while standing in from of her band Melodic Chaotic. Watch now:

Then, the 12-year old addressed the controversy surrounding this song's music video, which finds the young star holding hands and cuddling with a much older gentleman caller.

"Just for clarity, the word 'fling' means something short-lived," Willow told the host and the audience. "And this song is dedicated to all the kids around the world who so miss their beloved ones."

Okay. Fair enough, we guess. Plus, with all Miley Cyrus is doing these days, does anyone really care about Willow Smith and this supposed scandal? Call us when she grabs a foam finger.

Willow Smith's new "Summer Fling" music video and lyrics have drawn criticism from some parents who find the content a bit racy for someone her age.

She's 12, after all.

The Willow Smith "Summer Fling" video shows her holding hands, hugging, cuddling and flirting with a seemingly older boy, and features lyrics such as:

"You tell me that I’m the one / I tell you it's just for fun / Don't really care what we do tonight / Good night kiss 'til the mood is right."

"Laying by the beach with you / Wishing it would never end."

The video - and song about having a "fling" at age 12, has some parents worried that it's too mature for Willow's age, while others say it's all in good fun.

Where do you stand on Willow Smith's new video?

The acting career of her brother may be over (sorry, Jaden Smith ... After Earth really was that bad), but Willow Smith is attempting to revive her singing career.

Following the monumental success of "Whip My Hair," the 12-year old is back with "Summer Fling," a track on which she collaborates with DJ MVSIC Fabrega.

The song is catchy, but the video is a bit odd, as an older man portrays Willow's love interest and the young star debuts a near mullet-like hairstyle.

Jaden also makes a cameo, while the American Flag plays a key role. Watch it all unfold now:

Readers may be more familiar with the ever-chaning Willow Smith hairstyles than they are with this veyr young artist's voice, but the offspring of Will and Jada has set out to change that.

By covering the biggest artist of her generation.

Smith has posted a video of herself singing the chorus from Adele's "Skyfall," the theme song for this year's new James Bond movie. Does she do the track justice? Would you buy this as a single?

Willow Smith is back with a new music video.

The 11-year old debuted "I Am Me" at last night's BET Awards, an event that handed out hardware to Jay-Z, Beyonce and Chris Brown, among others.

Willow attended the ceremony with brother Jaden and did not win any trophies, but did she make an impression with the following track, which centers on her search for identity and her rally against critics. Lyrics include:

Express myself cause it’s my liberty/I’ve been lookin’ /Your validation is just not that important to me.

Willow Smith has taken a break from coloring her hair to release a new music video. Sort of.

It's actually an old music video, according to the 11-year old, who Tweeted a link to the following yesterday and wrote: "This video is old but I still love it."

It includes shot of Willow dancing through a variety of well-known cities, including New York and Paris. She dons pants, a studded jacket or two and, yes, she whips her hair a bit. Big brother Jaden Smith even stops by for a cameo!

Did you hear? Jane Carrey, daughter of beloved actor Jim Carrey, received a golden ticket to Hollywood on American Idol this week.

But the 24-year old still has a long way to go until she's considered one of the premiere celebrity offspring singers. That's right, there are a number of famous artists with similarly famous parents. We count them down below...

10. Hank Williams Jr. - Son of Hank Williams Sr. Loses points for being a narrow-minded moron.

9. Lisa Marie Presley - Daughter of Elvis Presley. Never responsible for any major hits. But her kiss of Michael Jackson at the 1994 MTV Video Music Awards was sort of a musical moment that will last forever.

8. Natalie Cole - Daughter of Nat King Cole. Who will ever forget the digitally-recorded, aptly-titled duet between father and child, "Unforgettable?"

7. Robin Thicke - Son of Alan Thicke. Has written songs for Jennifer Hudson, Usher and Mary J. Blige. Impressive!

6. Willow Smith - Daughter of Will and Jada Smith. Hasn't accomplished a great deal since whipping her hair all around, but is only 11. Still has time.

5. Jane Carrey - Daughter of Jim Carrey. Will move up a lot higher if she wins American Idol.

4. Jordin Sparks - Daughter of former NFL star Phillipi Sparks. Idol champion. Super Bowl national anthem singer. Broadway actress.

3. Chynna Phillips - Daughter of John Phillips. Would not even had made this list a year ago. But did you see Bridesmaids?!? A surprise top three entrant.

2. Liza Minnelli - Daughter of Judy Garland. Veteran of the song and stage industry, has won an Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Award. Also, recurred on Arrested Development.

1. Miley Cyrus. Daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus. No Oscar, Emmy, Grammy or Tony Award. But advanced to the finals of our first-ever tournament of THG.

WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE FAMOUS OFFSPRING SINGER?

Willow Smith has enjoyed an incredibly successful 2011, sky-rocketing to fame with singles such as "Whip My Hair" and "21st Century Girl."

But Will and Jada's 11-year old daughter is only first getting started. She announced the release date over the weekend for her self-titled, debut album: fans can look for it on April 3.

Willow Smith at the Jingle Ball

The CD will feature the aforementioned tracks, along with "Fireball," Willow's collaboration with Nicki Minaj. Expect an official video for this song to go viral at some point over the next few weeks, as well.

What do you think? Will you purchase Willow's album?

The X Factor features a pair of very young, very talented contestants in Rachel Crow and Drew Ryniewicz.

But this 13-year old and this 14-year old are practically hardened veterans when compared to Willow Smith, 11, who took to the stage last night during a results show that sent a second straight group home.

Watch Smith's performance of "Fireball" now and let's hope Crow and company are taking notes. Yes, it helps to have a very famous father, but Willow is also an impressive performer. See for yourself:

Willow Smith has moved past whipping her hair. She's no longer a 21st Century Girl.

Now, instead, Will and Jada's daughter is the "Fireball of the party," as she belts out repeatedly during the chorus of her aptly-titled new single, "Fireball." Joined by Nicki Minaj, the young artist premiered this single today on Hot 97’s The Angie Martinez Show.
