Our three favorite stars - and Mariah Carey - took center stage celebrating the return of Season Three of The Hills Monday at New York City's Gotham Hall.

The pop star, with 17 #1 singles to her credit throughout her career, performed hits such as "Touch My Body" and "We Belong Together" on a live after show.

Hugs For LC and Audrina

Mariah Carey then met with the beautiful trio of stars that make The Hills great - Lauren Conrad, Audrina Patridge and Whitney Port - backstage. See below...

On the long-awaited premiere of The Hills, Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port arrive in Paris to help out at the Crillon Ball for Teen Vogue.

What that is, we really have no clue, as it's not explained, but "It's a new world for you," a driver cautions. "Everything is different."

Heidi Playboy Cover

Lauren and Whitney then proceed to run errands for Teen Vogue and talk about boys. Everything is remarkably different in Paris, indeed.

Back in the USA, a reeling Heidi Montag is spending QT with her parents in snowy Crested Butte, Colo., while out in L.A., a depressed Spencer Pratt tells his little sister how he's going to win Heidi back by surprising her.

Stephanie Pratt tells him to respect Heidi's request for space. Her advice on what Spencer should do to win her back: "I mean, I guess you could just write a list of everything you've done and do the exact opposite."

Gotta give Stephanie Pratt props for that line!

In Paris, Lauren gets a call from Audrina Patridge, who says that she saw Brody Jenner at Les Deux kissing a girl he was calling his girlfriend.

We believe Brody's new girl to be Cora Skinner, though it was not specified. In any case, don't expect many more photos such as this in the immediate future.

To get her mind off the news, LC and Whitney go out with some guys from the band Rock and Roll (great name for a band), all of whom smoke, and one of whom has a penchant for wearing his shirt unbuttoned. Gotta love France!

When they get back to the hotel, Lauren Conrad consults her English to French dictionary and learns how to say "Brody is scum." Damn right!

Heidi Montag, meanwhile, is living up to the New York Times' assessment that she's become something of a feminist hero overnight.

  1. First, when Spencer Pratt explains the reason for his visit, she cuts him off and says, "Right, it's about you. It's all about you." Snap!
  2. Then, at dinner with her parents, who ain't thrilled to see him either, she tells him if he really respected her, he wouldn't have come. Double snap!
  3. Finally, she goes off about how she wants her friends back in her life and orders him to move out when they get back to L.A. Damn, girl.

Paris again now. Before leaving for the Ball, Lauren discovers that she's burned her borrowed Alberta Ferretti dress with her curling iron. Sadness.

Perhaps wearing it out to a club the night before wasn't the best idea, but no matter. Whitney, devoted friend, somehow commandeers LC another one.

At the Crillon Ball, Whitney Port has a talk with her boss, who recommends that she pursue styling instead of... whatever she does now. Okay then.

At the end of the evening, Matthias, the guitarist for Rock and Roll, propositions Lauren Conrad with just what she needs to forget Brody Jenner - an opportunity for a midnight tour of Paris on his Vespa. OMG! She accepts!

The pseudo-improvised reality series The Hills, as it plays out beyond MTV, on celebrity gossip covers and in nearly every other byway of the modern media, is above all a vicious decimator of hope. It mocks our hearts; it plays with our allegiances, and we welcome the abuse, the New York Times observes.

In its third season, which picks up tonight at 10 p.m., The Hills, set among young aspirants of the Hollywood Hills' music and fashion industries, has continued to track the emotional warfare between former best friends Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag, while delving more deeply into the twistedness and superficiality of the boyfriends who ensure that the tortured rivals treat each other like Crips and Bloods.

A Trophy Wife

Lauren Conrad and the rest of The Hills cast return at 10 p.m. tonight.

Defying our expectations, Heidi has emerged as a kind of feminist hero this season, climbing her way to a bigger position at the event-planning company where she orchestrates Nascar parties and the like, and refusing to acquiesce to the demands of her fiancé, Spencer Pratt, that she get herself home on time.

Her career-mindedness sets their relationship off course.

The 21-year-old Heidi Montag identifies the problem with no name: a boyfriend who sits around an apartment decorated to look like an '80s video arcade while trying to deny Heidi a real wedding with the glory of registering.

As you recall, her groundswell of self-assertion begins when Spencer Pratt insisted on eloping, prompting Heidi to, like, boldly declare:

"This isn't, like, Spencer's relationship and you decide what we do."

The full-on joyous Oprah-fication of Heidi Montag culminates with the show's return and gives The Hills a new momentum.

The following interview is a few months old, but we just came across it and had to pass it along to all the devoted followers of The Hills out there.

Hey, when the New York Times' style section interviews the lovely Whitney Port, we feel we have little choice but to report it to her fans.

Whitney, who we recently found out is preparing the launch of her clothing line within the company owned by her father, Jeff Port, is a fun interview.

Here's what the wonderful star of The Hills had to say ...

NYTimes: Where do you shop in LA?

Whitney Port: I do a lot of vintage shopping. There's a dress shop called Shareen's Vintage â€" I get a lot of stuff there. And American Rag and a place called Bleu.

NYTimes: Do you buy designer stuff?

Whitney Port: It gets really expensive. I live near places like Vionnet and Curve. I'll get a couple of pieces from there and I'll have them forever.

NYTimes: Rumor has it you're getting phased out of The Hills. Say it's not true!

Whitney Port: That's all just rumor. I'm still going to be continuing filming.

NYTimes: How do you feel about the Heidi-Spencer-Lauren ugliness?

Whitney Port: It's none of my business. I'll be there to lend an ear to Lauren. Other than that, there's no place for me in that situation.

NYTimes: Is any of that feud actually real?

Whitney Port: It's real; it's very sad. Really. Sad. It's sad â€" they were best friends.

[NOTE: Whitney Port and Lauren Conrad have since left Teen Vogue, but this interview took place in late December of last year]

NYTimes: What's your job at Teen Vogue?

Whitney Port: I'm a fashion consultant. It's kind of a freelance thing â€" I'll do anything from styling at photo shoots or working behind the scenes... Being the communicator between the West Coast and the East Coast.

Move over, Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag.

Whitney Port is the third cast member of The Hills to jump into the fashion fray, launching a young contemporary line, called Eve & A, for fall!

The clothing line (named for Whitney Eve Port) will make its debut Friday in the Movement showroom at the Los Angeles market.

Port may not have Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising training like her co-star and good friend, Lauren Conrad, but she does have more experience than you think - and practically grew up in the business.

Her father, Jeff Port, owns apparel company Swarm (nicknamed for the large Port family, which includes mom, dad, Whitney, Ryan, Ashley, Page and Jade). Swarm manufactures, among other things, the young men's line Shades of Gray.

Whitney Port makes three stars of The Hills with clothing lines!

Jeff Port's company also is backing Whitney's line, a 17-piece collection of convertible dresses, tops and jackets that will wholesale for $40-250.

Along with co-creative director Adrienne Baravetto, Whitney designs cocktail and party wear, much of which should be appropriate for her to don at her next gig - as an intern at the public relations firm People's Revolution.

So far, owner Kelly Cutrone appears to be putting them to work. Port was spotted at Smashbox Studios handling front of house for runway shows for People's Revolution clients Whitley Kros, Orthodox and Julia Clancey.

Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port both used to work at Teen Vogue, as we have seen extensively on The Hills. Both went to Paris representing the magazine, then moved on in recent months to work at People's Revolution.

Congratulations, Whitney!

The Hills star, Lauren Conrad, debuted her hip new fashion line - The Lauren Conrad Collection - last night at Los Angeles Fashion Week. LC's Fall 2008 line fashion show was held at Smashbox Studios Tuesday in Culver City, Calif.

The night was a huge success for Lauren Conrad, 22, who's been going to school for fashion design and marketing. But don't expect to see the event on The Hills.

"I kinda like that it's separate. It's not something that I really want to be part of a reality television show. It's a career that I want beyond my 15 minutes of fame," Lauren Conrad told reporters at the show last night.

LC had a great supporting section as Whitney Port, Audrina Patridge, Lauren "Lo" Bosworth, and Brody Jenner were all on hand to cheer her on. Here are a few pics, one of LC and Lo, the other of Whitney and Audrina ...

Oh, and yes, believe it or not, former LC rival Kristin Cavallari did show up as we reported she might yesterday afternoon! Follow the jump for a bunch more pics from the fashion show, including more of Lauren and Kristin ...

Note to Paris Hilton: Some celebrities actually have jobs! And don't suck!

No longer an intern at Teen Vogue, Lauren Conrad helped organize a casting call for models promoting her new clothing line (called "Lauren Conrad") inside People's Revolution PR on Melrose Ave. in Los Angeles Thursday afternoon.

Former boss and current BFF Whitney Port was there to lend a hand. Here's a behind-the-scenes shot of the two beauties from The Hills ...

The Hills' Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port hard at work at a casting call. Life's not all clubbing and working out for celebrities ... it mostly is, but not quite all.

We're pleased to announce that of our favorite celebrities celebrates a birthday today. The beautiful and oh-so-sweet Whitney Port of The Hills fame is now 23!

Always there to lend a sympathetic ear or to give sage advice to friends like Lauren Conrad, Whitney Port is a breath of fresh air in The Hills' catty world.

Audrina Patridge Fashion

The Los Angeles native is also beautiful, in our opinion, and not in a way that looks like she's trying way too hard. Like, say, Heidi Montag, perhaps?

Cute expressions like this one have made Whitney Port a Hills fan favorite.

We can't wait for Whitney, LC and Audrina Patridge to return for new episodes of The Hills March 24. If you haven't yet, check out the new trailer!

Also celebrating a birthday on this 5th of March? Eva Mendes. She gets naked a lot, goes to rehab and is supposedly an actress. Happy birthday, Eva!

Be sure to check out our calendar of celebrity birthdays to see when your favorite star's is coming up - or if any celebrities share yours!

It's Valentine's Day and what girl wouldn't enjoy a nice pink dress to wear on a romantic date this evening? Certainly the celebs below would be up for it!

Country queen Carrie Underwood, for one, is proving you don't have to show a lot of skin to be hot. Jumper star Rachel Bilson takes a similar attitude.

Even alleged singer and actress Jessica Simpson keeps her giant boobs remarkably covered up in a sleek pink dress of her own! See below ...

Carrie Underwood, Rachel Bilson and Jessica Simpson all look pretty in pink, but that's not all for this special Valentine's Day celebrity fashion show. Oh no.

To prove we're not only interested in girls who have dated Tony Romo, below is a photo of Dancing with the Stars' resident cutie, Julianne Hough!

To Julianne's right is the super-skinny Kate Bosworth (eat a steak, girl) and The Hills' Whitney Port, the trusted co-worker / BFF of Lauren Conrad.

Julianne Hough, Kate Bosworth and especially Whitney Port are welcome to be the Valentines of T.H. Gossip staff members. You know, if they don't have plans.

The Hollywood Gossip asks its readers (both guys and girls): Which of these stars do you think has the best Valentine's Day style?

NOTE: The editors' pick is Whitney Port, but we're a tad biased.
