In an interview with The Today Show yesterday, Cissy Houston said she does not blame anyone for her daughter's death.

But Michael Houston taped an interview with Oprah Winfrey this week and admits that he got Whitney started on crack cocaine many, many years ago.

"You gotta understand at the time, Michael says. "[It was] the 80s... it was acceptable."

Cissy Houston stopped by The Today Show this morning, partly to promote her new book, "Remembering Whitney: My Story of Love, Loss, and the Night the Music Stopped."

And partly to make all viewers cry.

During an emotional interview with Savannah Guthrie, Cissy remained mostly quiet and stoic, clearly still affected by her family's loss.

"I miss her so much, I can’t even express it," Cissy said of Whitney Houston, who died nearly a year ago.

Nine months after the tragic passing of Whitney Houston, a new track by the legendary artist has been released.

Titled "Never Give Up," the song was recorded not long before Houston died in February. It's a sad, hip hop-inflected single whose lyrics focus on one's struggling to keep going in life.

Look for it to be included on "I Will Always Love You," the greatest hits album that comes out off RCA Records on November 13.

In September, Clive Davis unveiled a Whitney and R. Kelly duet, "I Look to You," which was also recorded in early 2012.

Yes, Bobbi Kristina Brown is engaged to Nick Gordon.

And based on the following promo for The Houstons: On Our Own - the Lifetime reality series that premieres October 24 and isn't at all exploiting the death of Whitney Houston for ratings - her family is anything but happy over that news.

The 19-year old and the fiance who she got to know when her mother essentially adopted him as her son many years ago are at the center of this trailer, which paints the Houstons as on par with the Kardashians.

Hard to believe Whitney is looking down in approval of this nonsense. Watch for yourself:

Nearly eight months since Whitney Houston died in Beverly Hills, close friend and world famous producer Clive Davis has given fans a chance to listen to new music from the legendary artist.

Davis called in this morning to "On Air with Ryan Seacrest" and premiered "I Look to You," a duet between Houston and R. Kelly that the former recorded not long before her tragic demise.

A video of a random girl singing Whitney Houston's timeless hit "I Will Always Love You" at a mall karaoke machine is going viral, and it's easy to see why.

She's awesome. Some have speculated that she MUST be lip-synching to sound that good, but she's not ... nor is she as totally "random" as it may seem.

The young woman is Zendee Rose, a former contestant on the Philippines' version of The X Factor. Amazingly, these pipes didn't get her past Boot Camp:

Whitney would be proud. So would Ellen DeGeneres, who is probably on the phone as we speak trying to track down Zendee and book her for next week.

Whitney Houston would have turned 49 years old today.

Sadly, of course, this is not the case, as the legendary singer passed away from an apparent overdose in February. But it's worth taking a few moments this morning in her honor and remember just how special and impressive of a voice this singer possessed.

Perhaps the greatest rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner in history will help jog your memory:

With fans having a chance to see Houston on screen one final time in Sparkle on August 17, thoughts continue to go out to Whitney's family, friends and loved ones.

Other stars celebrating a birthday today include: Anna Kendrick (27), Gillian Anderson (44), Deion Sanders (45) and Bob Cousy (84).

Ray J returned to the scene of a personal tragedy this week, as a press event for his new professional venture forced the singer back to the Beverly Hilton Hotel... the spot where Whitney Houston passed away in February.

Totally Ray J

The former sex tape partner of Kim Kardashian was dating Houston at the time of her death and sources say he was forced to enter grief counseling in response to the incident.

What brought Ray J back to the hotel yesterday? A Q&A session with reporters in regard to The Rickey Smiley Show. How did he react to the visit?

Insiders tell TMZ Ray was emotional and and that walking around the hallways was "very weird." Overall, it simply "hurt inside" to relive such a memory.

But J will push on and attempt to advance her career. Because, friends say, that's how Whitney would have wanted it.

Cissy Houston and Mariah Carey were at the forefront of an emotional tribute to Whitney Houston at last night's BET Awards.

The latter kicked off the 19-minute event, recalling stories about Whitney - who tragically overdosed and died in February - and told the audience: "I miss my friend. I miss hearing her voice and laughter."

Monica and Brandy also took to the stage, singing multiple Whitney hits, while former Waiting to Exhale co-stars Angela Bassett, Lela Rochon and Loretta Devine honored their late friend.

But it was Cissy who brought tears to the eyes of all in attendance. She sang a version of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and A-listers such as Beyonce and Soulja Boy were caught on camera crying.

Watch the entire tribute for yourself:
