The Fourth of July was the previous day, but last night's Jake Pavelka-Vienna Girardi interview on The Bachelorette may have been the most explosive display.

Together for the first time since the Breakup of the Century, the former couple began the segment in (fairly) civilized fashion before things got out of hand.

“I’m so mad at you and I’m just disgusted with you,” Jake said. “You are a fame whore, that’s what you are,” Vienna retorted. “You’re a liar is what you are.”

So it went.

In the climactic scene, Vienna tried to apologize, only to break down after Jake angrily raised his hand, forcefully ordering “Please stop interrupting me.”

She began to cry, to which Jake said, “again I got interrupted.” She then said, “You are the fakest person I have ever met in my life!” and stormed off set.

Here's the pivotal moment ...

Only four men remain on The Bachelorette now. Maybe you noticed.

Last night's episode of the reality TV saga was dominated by a Jake and Vienna interview for the ages, making everything else seem boring and irrelevant.

Follow the above link for an entire recap devoted to that nonsense. Below, we give Ali Fedotowsky and crew their due as her quest for love hits Portugal.

Here's THG's patented plus-minus rundown of the episode ...

Ali and Roberto Martinez take pictures of each other, hear music on the street and start dancing right there. SO romantic and NOT AT ALL staged. Minus 4.

They make nice conversation about Roberto's family, the hunk says really nice things to Ali, they kiss and we think he's the favorite, hands down. Plus 8.

Cute New Bachelorette

Who will The Bachelorette star choose?

Ty and Frank go on the awkward two-on-one date ever. Minus 5, 'cause they just bitch about the format the whole time. You're on The Bachelorette, guys.

Frank lives with his parents. Minus 4, but Ty does him one better by saying he's "tickled" Ali has a plan and a career of her own. Sexist much? Minus 20.

Kirk's date takes place in a big castle, at which he talks about his illness and how it made him reexamine his life. Again with the mold poisoning. Plus 9.

Minus 12, or approximately one point for each use of the word "hometown." Like saying "wrong reasons" ad nauseam, guess they stick to the script.

Fortunately, Chris Lambton not only refers to his town's name (Dennis, Mass.), he knocks it out of the park on his date. Moped skills aside. Plus 13.

Chris and Roberto can do no wrong.

The narrative of Chris' mom's death is a wee bit overblown, but he seems so genuinely sweet about it, how can you not give the guy another Plus 11?

Minus 7 for blurring out Chris' Boston Red Sox shirt.

If you're up on The Bachelorette spoilers, you knew that Ty or Kirk was going home at the rose ceremony, and it was Ty in a bit of a surprise. Plus 5.

Again, see the link above for the full rundown, but for all her flaws, sad Vienna Girardi came off 100 times better than pompous Jake Pavelka. Wash.

How funny was next week's preview, considering how much Frank whines about not getting time with Ali, the alleged girl of his dreams?! Minus 15.

TOTAL: -9. SEASON: +130.

Roses: Chris, Roberto, Frank and Kirk.

Out: Ty.

Last night's episode of The Bachelorette was essentially scaled back to an hour and 15 minutes to make room for the Jake Pavelka-Vienna Girardi smackdown.

This left us with two thoughts: 1. This could easily be a one-hour show every week, and 2. This interview was likely the greatest 45 minutes in show history.

There were so many ridiculous comments made and insults traded, The Hollywood Gossip has devoted a separate Bachelorette recap to their joint interview.

Our traditional Bachelorette rundown will follow shortly. Now, for the blow-by-blow of the much-hyped reunion that followed the Breakup of the Century ...

Future Mrs. Pavelka

Introducing the segment on a somber note, venerable host-pimp Chris Harrison pretends not to be ecstatic this fell in ABC's lap. What a great job. Plus 8.

Jake comes out to tell "his side" first. Jerry Springer-esque. Minus 4, if only because a screaming audience and/or chairs thrown would have enhanced this.

Oh, if you have this on DVR, have one person do a shot every time she says "fame whore" and another take one every time he says "undermined." Plus 10.

After Jake Pavelka says he was "blindsided" by the split, Vienna Girardi alleges "emotional abuse." Hard to tell who's lying more in the early going. Minus 3.

Jake seems genuinely surprised, even now, that Vienna is trashy and not that smart. Plus 4, because 10 million viewers knew this on his season's premiere.

We've never been big fans, per se, but when Jake starts being all condescending about text messages, her family, her dog, etc., we feel bad for V. Minus 7.

Vienna, on Jake complaining that she remeasured their room: "I never picked up a tape measure. I never picked up a tape measure in my life." Plus 12.

For whatever reason, they bleep out Gregory Michael's name, even though Vienna's alleged cheating with Gregory Michael was widely reported. Minus 18.

That story about Jake throwing the GPS into the back seat was pathetic and disturbing, but Minus only 5, because you know how guys are about directions.

Chris: "We don't really care about the dog." LOLOLOLOL. Plus 10.

Asked by Chris what they loved about each other, Jake says Vienna "challenged him." Plus 14, because he definitely just became "the biggest fake liar ever."

Jake: "I believe there is more to relationships than sex and intimacy." Like updating one's Twitter and going on as many reality shows as possible. Minus 9.

Near tears and vehemently denying Jake's accusations of her "flings with other men," Vienna asks Chris if she can take a "poly-o-graph" test. Plus 1,000.

How the HELL has Chris kept a straight face for a HALF HOUR? Plus 7.

When she interrupts Jake, in the midst of apologizing no less, he raises his hand in rage (not quite making a fist, but close) and berates her. Minus 250.

As she storms off in tears, Jake just shakes his head condescendingly. "There she goes again." How would these two EVER work as a couple?! Minus 40.

Minus 200 more, because as entertaining as this was, these morons both need to go away forever now ... and we have a strong suspicion they won't.

Wow. We always knew Jake was an uptight stiff, but we didn't peg him for a misogynistic a$$hole. We can't believe we're saying this, but ... Team Vienna?

TOTAL: +534.

Whose side are you on?

It was already a he said, she said battle for the ages, but find a hat, then hold the f*%k onto it, 'cause Vienna Girardi is really taking it to Jake Pavelka now.

In a new clip from Monday's episode of The Bachelorette, which will feature a joint interview with the formerly engaged couple, she drops this bomb on him:

"You are the biggest fake liar I've ever met in my entire life."

BAM. Talk about getting owned. But Jake, not to sit there and be humiliated, snaps back, "Who's the guy you had on Saturday night at the apartment?"

That would be Greek star Gregory Michael, whose name is bleeped out in the clip, and whose affair with Vienna was supposedly the last straw for Jake.

On Good Morning America Friday, host-pimp Chris Harrison admits their first face-to-face encounter since their split was "definitely contentious."

In the first clip released yesterday, Girardi, a former Hooters waitress, defends herself for selling details about their love life to a tabloid, claiming she had to.

"Jake felt really betrayed that she sold these very intimate stories," Harrison adds. "That's where it got heated. Jake really takes offense that he was sold out."

Among those stories he was so upset: That while we've all seen Vienna Girardi nude or close to it, Jake had no interest in hitting that for months on end!

Sorry, people.

Don't expect to see The Bachelor's Vienna Girardi pose nude in Playboy, despite rumors about a deal in the works between the magazine and reality star.

While she allegedly told Star she is posing in Playboy for $250,000, a Playboy rep says: "We are not in negotiations with her and have not made an offer."

After Playboy publicly denied a deal, Girardi, who floated the idea in the same interview where she said Jake wouldn't put out, quickly changed her tune.

"Really Playboy?!" she Twittered. "Something else I didn't know about myself. It's just another rumor." Another one that you started, Vienna. Nice try.

  • Vienna Girardi Goes Down

It's not like Vienna Girardi topless photos would be unprecedented. Nor would pics of her with a face full of man parts, like this Spring Break gem TMZ uncovered.

Meanwhile, shirtless scenes of Vienna's ex-fiance are the most you'll ever see of the 32-year-old pilot. Don't look for Jake Pavelka nude in Playgirl either.

It's not like that magazine isn't interested, though, openly lobbying for The Bachelor star, who may or may not like girls, to bare all for big bucks.

"Jake is not doing Playgirl - never considered it, never will," his rep said.

So basically, Vienna and Playgirl have a lot in common.

As their tumultuous and utterly predictable split continues to play out in public, Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi will discuss it Monday on The Bachelorette.

The duo sat down with their former host-pimp Chris Harrison to talk about the split for the July 5 segment, and let's just say it's as ugly as it is contrived.

A sneak peek of the interview reveals no big Bachelorette spoilers - just dueling accusations and blaming one another for the demise of a fake relationship.

Asked why they made the breakup so public, Vienna said: "Either way, our relationship had been public. No matter how we broke up, this had to happen."

Right. There was no other option.

A Vienna and Jake Pic

"The world was going to want to know," she said. "I know Jake and I knew as soon as we broke up he was going to run to a media outlet and tell his side. I just wanted to make sure I had a voice also. I haven't had a voice this entire time."

Jake responds ... well, presumably. The clip we have here doesn't show that part, but he reportedly gets so pissed at her that makes a fist at Vienna at one point.

Girardi's accusations are consistent with what she's been saying all along, though - that he's a fame whore who misled her. Dude doesn't even put out!

There's also the rumor that Jake isn't into girls, but we'll leave that alone for now. Follow the jump for a sneak preview of the couple on The Bachelorette ...

Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi's emotionally-charged reunion is still days away from hitting the small screen on The Bachelorette, and it's already ugly.

Taped last Thursday, the former couple's combative, instantly infamous joint interview is set to air July 5, and some new, heated details have emerged.

According to a new ABC press release, Vienna Girardi and Jake Pavelka acknowledge that their romance is unfixable, and proceed to exchange insults.

Bachelor host-pimp Chris Harrison can only look on in awe.

The gist: Girardi tells Jake Pavelka he's a "liar" and a "fame whore," while Pavelka says she's jealous and undermines him. The Bachelor stars argue about who initiated the breakup, and Girardi denies she cheated with Gregory Michael.

At one point, the airhead Floridian bursts into tears and stomps off the set, while reports from witnesses say that an enraged Jake makes a fist at her.

Another insider who observed the confrontation told Us Weekly that Pavelka "couldn't get a word out - it was very reflective of their relationship."

Mediator Harrison often had to tell Girardi, "Vienna, let him talk." But "Vienna was on the defense," a source adds. "She was trying to play victim."

As we see it, we're the true victims in all of this.

Who says nothing good can come out of the sad unraveling of a fake relationship? For Jake Pavelka, his recent "heartbreak" led to some stirring acting scenes.

In an upcoming episode of Drop Dead Diva, Camille Guaty plays a reality star dumped on live TV by a Bachelor-like cad - played by the former Bachelor star.

In the climactic scene, Pavelka's character Toby must choose between two women, and Guaty's character, Wendy, goes into hysterics when he rejects her.

Pavelka had the perfect inspiration to play the villain, of course - he shot his scene last Monday, the same day he split with alleged fiancee Vienna Girardi.

They broke up amid rumors she was cheating with Gregory Michael.

For Jake Pavelka, it was art imitating life. Kind of.

"Jake literally discovered the shocking news about Vienna while on set, moments before shooting this scene for the first time," Guaty tells Us Weekly.

As a result? "He did an incredible job!" the actress gushed.

Pavelka's real-life heartbreak, she added, "gave him something to work with ... I just told him to stay focused and use what happened towards the scene."

Seems like it worked, according to his counterpart:

"Let's just say that when we were discussing this scene beforehand, Jake found it really difficult to tell me that I wasn't the one," she said. "And after he heard the news from Vienna, it seemed like second nature to him ... I guess we have Vienna to thank!"

Ahh, don't we all, Camille. Don't we all. Just hope he doesn't make a fist at you or any of your Drop Dead Diva co-stars ... things could get ugly fast.

Vienna Girardi is supposedly scared of Jake Pavelka. He says he'd get engaged to her all over again. Another day in the aftermath of the Breakup of the Century.

After a taped reunion interview that reportedly involved Jake making a fist in anger, a Vienna source says she is afraid of Jake and doesn’t want to go near him.

While ABC claims that no one was ever in physical danger, witnesses say the scene was ugly, and Vienna Girardi wants nothing to do with the guy ever again.

“I am afraid of Jake because he is verbally abusive and controlling, I'm afraid of what he might do next," she told a close friend. “I just want to be left alone."

The friend adds that Vienna "just wants a normal life" and is allegedly "starting a regular 9-5 job in marketing" today, which she's really "looking forward to.”

Marketing what, her own topless pics and celebrity news interviews?

Vienna Girardi and Jake

It's been reported that one reason for the breakup was that Jake refusing to put it to her, but he was all over Vienna when it came to publicity about the couple.

No wonder he says do it all over again - the two were all over the news!

While he's hurt by Vienna's alleged cheating, "I'm getting all the Tweets and support from fans," he says. "You guys are going to get me through this. Thank you."

"My goal in life is to make decisions that minimize regrets. I don't regret anything I've done," he said on Good Morning Texas. "It's been the most amazing ride."

Yes, folks, it's been an amazing ride ... broken fake engagement and all.

"I've gotten to do things that most people never even dream of doing, and I sit here [thinking], 'What have I done to deserve this?' Somebody pinch me."

We'd love to, Jake. Got a vice handy?

Reuniting for the first time since the end of their fake relationship, Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi faced off in a joint interview on Wednesday night.

For a segment to air next month on The Bachelorette, of course.

Vienna Girardi Cheated!

The taped reunion between the fame-obsessed pair, whose breakup is becoming more bitter by the day, quickly got out of hand - and nearly violent.

According to reports, Jake Pavelka "exploded in anger" at Vienna Girardi and at one point turned toward her and pulled his arm back, making a fist.

It was a shocking display that left Vienna in tears, and left witnesses wondering if Jake might be getting ready to straight up whomp his ex-fiancee.

At another point, Jake told Vienna to "shut up" three times.

FAKE COUPLE, REAL DRAMA: That's Jake and Vienna for you.

The Breakup of the Century is dominating headlines this week, prompting ABC to capitalize by secretly reuniting the warring duo for footage that will air July 5.

They had to know what was coming (possibly because they scripted it).

“Jake was visibly angry,” a source said. “At one point he wheeled back and I thought he was going to throw a punch. He pulled his arm back, his hand in a fist.”

Despite obvious tension and drama, a longtime friend of Jake's insists: "Jake would NEVER hit her, EVER. End of story. The guy doesn't even use swear words."

ABC also denies that any punches or near-punches were thrown. "The atmosphere was emotionally charged," the network acknowledged in a statement, but:

"However, and contrary to reports that have surfaced, at no time was anyone physically in harm’s way, nor was anyone ever threatened with physical violence.”

As Bachelorette host-pimp Chris Harrison tried to keep things from getting heated, Pavelka stood up in frustration, asking pointedly, "Will you just let me finish?"

"He couldn't get a word out, it was very reflective of their relationship," says a source, who adds that host Chris often had to tell Girardi, "Vienna, let him talk."

We'll know for sure July 5, but she supposedly storms off in tears.

"Vienna was on the defense. She was trying to play victim."
