Ever since Vanity Fair's cover story alleged that members of the Church of Scientology vetted possible wives for Tom Cruise, Nazanin Boniadi has been in the spotlight.

Little known if at all in the U.S., the Iranian-born, London-raised actress, whose friends call her "Naz," has been referred to as the "Persian Audrey Hepburn."

Obviously it didn't work out for Nazanin Boniadi, who's appeared on General Hospital and How I Met Your Mother, and Cruise, who wed Katie Holmes in 2006.

Nazanin Boniadi Photo

She isn't quoted in the VF article, but director Paul Haggis (a known critic of the Church of Scientology) says that Boniadi shared her 2004-05 ordeal with him.

Boniadi hit it off with him at first, but refused to indulge Tom Cruise in public displays of affection and was ultimately dispatched by Scientology higher-ups.

From there she was sent to church headquarters in Florida, where she was punished and made to clean toilets with a toothbrush for speaking about Cruise.

Reps for Cruise have denied the contents of the article, as has the Church, but not before it further fed into the firestorm over Scientology's cult-like reputation.

From the sound of it ... Naz might've dodged a bullet on this one.

The process of finding Tom Cruise a potential wife through the Church of Scientology was revealed in Vanity Fair's October cover story by Maureen Orth.

Shelly Miscavige, the wife of Scientology head David Miscavige, led the audition to find a suitable new Mrs. Cruise after his divorce from Nicole Kidman.

Actresses who were also Scientology members were called for the audition process held under the guise of "a new training film," according to the article.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, who were married from 2006-2012, met at some point after this; it's unclear if she was also screened in this fashion.

It's pretty disturbing in any case if it's even half true.

Iranian-born actress Nazanin Boniadi, a strong candidate, passed the first stage of the audition process and then underwent a month-long preparation.

After a makeover and signing an NDA, she was set up with Cruise in November 2004 ... quickly realizing what her "very important mission" consisted of.

During their relationship, she was audited and spent 2-3 hours purging any "negative thoughts about Tom." Things went more or less well ... for a time.

Cruise started to have a series of complaints about her - read the full Vanity Fair expose for an explanation of what - and the relationship soon fizzled.

Katie Holmes apparently walked away nothing other than relatively modest child support in her divorce from Tom Cruise ... which is all she wanted.

From the onset, it was reported that Katie wanted nothing from Tom other than a divorce and for him to comfortably support their daughter Suri.

Mission accomplished on both fronts.

Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise

Sources familiar with documents filed with the court indicate that Katie received no lump sum payout in the couple's recent divorce settlement.

This is consistent with the prenup she signed which shuts her out of Tom's fortune. She also received nothing in the way of spousal support.

Tom has agreed to pay Katie $400,000 a year in child support, or $33,333.33, until Suri turns 18, coming in a shade under $5 million total.

He'll also cover her medical, dental, insurance, education, college and other costs, but for a man worth over $250 million, it's hardly an issue.

Also interesting: Suri Cruise cannot go to a "residential school" from now through her high school years ... i.e. no boarding school for her.

Katie could have fought for more support, but Suri brought them together even as they were divorcing and they opted to settle quickly.

The Tom Cruise-Katie Holmes divorce doesn't mean they're not both loving and committed parents to their daughter, as the couple continues to show.

It was father-daughter bonding time as Tom took his adorable little girl Suri Cruise to the Magic Kingdom itself, Disney World in Orlando this week.

Here's a fan photo taken of the duo at the park ...

Tom and Katie's divorce, which was settled out of court before any kind of nasty legal war could break up, promises him "meaningful and significant contact" with six-year-old Suri Cruise despite her living with her mom.

He got it last month when they emotionally reunited in NYC, then again in Florida this week with the Magic Carpets of Aladdin and the Jungle Cruise.

Here's hoping this continues to work out for the best.

A pair of celebrity gossip tabloids apparently have their collective fingers on the pulse of all things Suri Cruise. It's like they're reading her every thought.

According to In Touch Weekly and Star Magazine, the youngster's thoughts on the recent bombshell Tom Cruise-Katie Holmes divorce are quite clear:

Team Tom.

If you believe this (dis)reputable pair of magazines, Suri Cruise was won over by her dad during his recent get-together with her - a $170,000 getaway.

Possibly accompanied by Scientology chaperones, the lavish reunion clearly did the trick, with Suri allegedly pleading to be with Tom over Katie now.

Suri Cruise, mind you, is six years old.

Despite this fact - and that the two settled their divorce and custody pact already in a relatively amicable manner, we're supposed to believe this?

In (slightly) more comprehensible news, the stunning Yolanda Pecoraro is said to be in the running to be the next Mrs. Tom Cruise for a few years.

Hey, have you heard? Tom Cruise is single again.

In light of the actor's divorce from Katie Holmes, and with many believing Scientology is to blame for the couple's split, the National Enquirer quotes an expert on that religion who says Cruise will next marry somebody from within the church.

Specifically, Yolanda Pecoraro!

The actress is a "Scientology princess, perfect for Tom," according to a tabloid source, who adds that Pecoraro has been taking Scientology courses since she was 13 years old.

Moreover, Yolanda admits she knows Cruise and is neither married nor engaged. Score!

"With the embarrassment his divorce has caused the church, they want to stabilize the situation quickly," the insider says, adding that Pecoraro and Cruise met in 2004 and the latter paid for the former to attend Scientology courses in Hollywood.

Even if Cruise somehow does not select Pecoraro, few believe he won't marry again. The only question remaining: which young Hollywood star is in need of the Tom Cruise Bump and will negotiate a contract accept his proposal of love?

Tom Cruise has finally had it with all the talk, chatter and innuendo.

A day after the actor spent quality time with daughter Suri in New York City, the star - through attorney Bert Fields - went off on Life & Style today for its latest cover story, which alleges Cruise has "abandoned" his child and left her "in tears."

In regard to the assertion, Fields has sent an email that reads:

"That, as anyone knows who saw their photos together yesterday and today, is a disgusting, vicious lie. Until this week, Tom was shooting a film on location, but he spoke to Suri every day.

"He's with Suri right now; and he was with her the day before Life & Style trumpeted their cruelly false accusation. Tom dearly loves Suri and the last thing he would ever do is abandoned her."

In a People magazine article, meanwhile, a source says Cruise quickly finalized his divorce and has based all his subsequent decisions on the well-being os his six-year old daughter.

Simply put, Tom Cruise did not see this coming. Not one bit.

Despite various bloggers and media outlets claiming the actor and Katie Holmes agreed to some kind of five-year marriage contract, the latest issue of People quotes a source who swears Cruise was taken aback by his wife's divorce filing.

What did I not see? Cruise wondered on June 28 when news broke, this insider tells the magazine.

Tom and Suri

The most difficult part for Cruise was not seeing his daughter for nearly a month - they finally reunited in New York City yesterday - but he was off filimg a sci-fi movie called Oblivion.

"He's wanted to see her as fast as possible since this started," said the source. "He couldn't shut down production, cost people their jobs. People count on him."

Why did Tom and Katie agree to such a quick settlement? Look no further than the toddler in his arms above.

"Tom tried his best to do what's right for Suri," according to his lawyer Bert Fields, who adds that the star is "sad" but not "bitter" about the situation.

Suri Cruise suffered through a car accident last night, but that apparently was not the worst experience this six-year has been through in the last 24 hours.

For the first time since her parents split, Suri was stuck hanging out with Tom Cruise today, as photographers in New York City captured the actor carrying his daughter off into The Greenwich Hotel. See for yourself:

Insiders say Cruise has wrapped his latest film and will be spending a lot more time with Suri in the near future. He's reportedly taking her to Chelsea Piers later today for a gymnastics lesson.

A source tells TMZ that Tom picked Suri up, spending five minutes in his old apartment, but ex-wife Katie Holmes was NOT on the premises.

No word yet on if these two plan a face-to-face meeting, but a friend describes Cruise as "sad but not bitter" over the divorce.

Tom Cruise's attorney, Bert Fields, demands that the National Enquirer and its parent company, American Media, retract its new cover story about the actor's just-settled divorce from Katie Holmes or face a defamation complaint of epic proportions.

Among other tawdry allegations, the magazine claims Cruise's home was akin to a "house of horrors" and that his estranged wife, Holmes, lived a "tortured life" in a marriage that was a "living nightmare" in virtual lockdown for years.

Taking the Questions

Fields absolutely went OFF on what he said was a "disgraceful and lurid cover with bogus, red and yellow headlines announcing one cruel lie after another about Mr. Cruise and his family" and went on to take them apart one by one:

"Contrary to your headlines, Mr. Cruise has not engaged in any 'abuse' or 'humiliation' of Katie Holmes," he wrote. "Nor has he ever subjected her to any punishments."

"It is also completely untrue that Mr. Cruise ever subjected his wife to relentless verbal abuse, emotional punishment, humiliation and intimidation."

"These are all egregious lies. He did none of these things."
