Sarah Palin and her husband Todd are getting a divorce. Beyond a doubt. Right?

A reputable magazine like Star would never report this if Sarah and Todd's marriage weren't in turmoil, leaving the parents of five on the brink of a split, would it?

According to Star's coverage of their "disintegrating union," Todd and Sarah are sleeping apart, arguing 24/7 and losing control of their party-animal daughters!

"Sarah and Todd fight all the time," says Mercede Johnston, sister of Levi Johnston, ex-boyfriend and baby mama of Sarah's eldest daughter, Bristol Palin.

"When they do, Todd ends up sleeping on the couch at their home in Wasilla. Bristol used to tell Levi that her parents would argue and bicker over the littlest things, like who was supposed to take out the trash or wash the dishes."

Levi Johnston, the father of 7-month-old son Tripp with Bristol, also spoke this week about Sarah Palin's marital problems, which he said have been happening "from day one," and blamed for her decision to resign as governor of Alaska.

Sarah Palin Divorce!

Todd Palin is "tired of living a lie." Star, on the other hand, thrives on it.

The Palins shot down the previous batch of divorce rumors, for the record. But fueled by Sarah's resignation as governor, similar stories continue to dog the pair.

Now Mercede Johnston predicts: "If they ended their marriage within the next year, I wouldn't be surprised. It really seems it's just a sham for the cameras now!"

Another possibility, an "Alaskan insider" tells Star, is that with Sarah Palin's new book deal in place, "she might even come to some financial agreement for him to stay with her and give the impression of a loving husband."

This source then calls them the "Jon and Kate Gosselin of politics!"

The comparison may not be too off-base. Like the TLC reality stars, Todd and Sarah have a brood to worry about, and the worries keep growing amid new scandal.

Star says 15-year-old daughter Willow Palin was drinking vodka and smoking pot at a house party, "her eyes getting more and more glazed as the night went on."

We hope the magazine has some good lawyers on retainer.

Rumors of a Todd Palin-Sarah Palin divorce gained some traction today after a website out of Alaska reported that the state's former chief executive and her husband were calling it quits, but further investigation reveals it is not true.

Sarah Palin's spokeswoman, Meg Stapleton, has denied the story by an Alaskan blog that just hours ago claimed to have inside info on an impending split.

On Palin’s Facebook page, Stapleton posted the following rebuke:

“Yet again, so-called 'journalists' have decided to make up a story."

"There is absolutely no truth to the recent “story” (and story is the correct term for this type of fiction) that Sarah and Todd Palin are divorcing."

"The Palins remain married, committed to each other and their family, and have not purchased land in Montana (last week it was Long Island).”

“Less than one week ago, Governor Palin asked the media to 'quit making things up.' We appreciate that the more professional journalists decided to question this story first before repeating it.”

Sarah Palin may have recently quit on Alaskans, but despite Internet reports, she and husband Todd Palin aren't saying farewell to their marriage anytime soon.

Sarah Palin’s attorney, Thomas Van Flein, also went on record shooting down the divorce story, telling CBS News that reports of a split are “categorically false.”

The initial report claimed that previous affairs by both Palins had led to a deterioration of their marriage, and that the Palins were noticeably not speaking to one another at Sarah's resignation speech in Fairbanks, Alaska, last Sunday.

No word on whether the website that reported the divorce rumor really is "makin' things up," or whether they just received faulty intel from Levi Johnston.

David Letterman has apologized for his jokes about Gov. Sarah Palin and her family that sparked angry replies from the former V.P. nominee earlier this week.

Sort of.

Tuesday night on The Late Show, Letterman quipped that Palin's daughter was knocked up Alex Rodriguez during a Yankees game, and that the hardest part of the Palins' New York City trip was keeping Eliot Spitzer away from their daughter.

This prompted the governor and her husband, Todd Palin, to slam Letterman for his "sexually perverted comments" about their 14-year-old daughter, Willow.

Todd fumed on Facebook: "Any 'jokes' about raping my 14-year-old are despicable. Alaskans know it and I believe the rest of the world knows it, too."

A familiar David Letterman expression, certainly applicable to this story.

Last night, Dave said he was referring to Bristol Palin, 18, not Willow. He admitted his jokes were in "questionable taste" and that he regrets telling them.

But, he added, he did nothing to advocate sexual relations with a minor, nor would he ever. As far as being guilty of anything but making jokes in bad taste, of which he has told thousands over the years, the talk show host pleaded innocent.

That about sums it up if you ask us. An acknowledgment that he crossed the line was warranted, as was clarification on what he meant by the aforementioned jokes. But, by the same token, the Palins could chill the eff out a little.

Letterman even invited Sarah to come on the show as a gesture of good faith. Here's his explanation of, and commentary on, the recent controversy:

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin recently paid a visit to the Big Apple, and as he has been known to do on The Late Show, David Letterman had some fun at her expense.

The 2008 GOP Vice Presidential nominee and her husband were hardly amused.

Tuesday night, Letterman joked in his monologue that when Sarah visited Yankee Stadium, she sat in "far, far right field" with Rudy Giuliani. Ba-dum-ching.

"They had a wonderful time," the talk show host continued. "The toughest part of her visit was keeping Eliot Spitzer away from her daughter." Ooooooh.

That, of course, is a reference to the disgraced former N.Y. Governor who was caught sleeping with hooker Ashley Dupre and forced to resign his office.

“One awkward moment for Sarah Palin at the game," Letterman later said, "during the seventh inning, her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez.”

While clearly digs at A-Rod and Spitzer and not the Palins, Alaska's first couple took to - what else - Facebook to post the following message in response:

"Any 'jokes' about raping my 14-year-old daughter are despicable. Alaskans know it and I believe the rest of the world knows it, too," Todd Palin wrote.

Meanwhile, from Sarah Palin:

"Concerning Letterman's comments about my young daughter (and I doubt he'd ever dare make such comments about anyone else's daughter): 'Laughter incited by sexually-perverted comments made by a 62-year-old male celebrity aimed at a 14-year-old girl is not only disgusting, but it reminds us some Hollywood/NY entertainers have a long way to go in understanding what the rest of America understands – that acceptance of inappropriate sexual comments about an underage girl, who could be anyone's daughter, contributes to the atrociously high rate of sexual exploitation of minors by older men who use and abuse others.'"

While in somewhat poor taste, does anyone think Dave is really advocating "perverted" acts against 14-year-old Willow... or Track, or Field, or whichever one it is?

And is it not a comedy show, where stars are lampooned?

Not to mention the fact that Bristol Palin, the couple's oldest daughter, actually was knocked up in early 2008, when she was 17. But that's neither here nor there.

One could even argue that the only exploitation of the Palins' daughter is courtesy of the Palins themselves, who are making a giant deal out of a relatively harmless joke to play the victim and get attention. Would you put it past them?

Either that, or they're complete nut jobs. Perhaps a little of both.

In a new interview, Todd Palin says the $150,000 spent on clothes and beauty services for his wife, Alaska Governor and vanquished Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin during the 2008 campaign was "out of our control."

"She never went to Saks, any of that stuff," he says in Men's Journal. "You come into a campaign late, you put all your trust into the team, you got people who are working on VP ops for a long time, and we're just focused on debate prep."

Mugler Shot

"I couldn't give a rat's [expletive] about clothes," Todd Palin continues. "Please. I mean these are my Sunday go-to-meeting jeans!"

Sarah and John McCain came under fire after it was revealed thousands of dollars were spent to dress her family - $75,062 at Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis, $49,425 at Saks Fifth Avenue and $4,902 at upscale men's store Atelier, etc.

The lavish shopping sprees contradicted Sarah's image as an average "hockey mom" - and even paled in comparison to relatively affordable Michelle Obama fashion.

Sarah Palin has said neither wanted nor asked for the clothes.

Todd says the Alaskan governor - who was routinely mocked on SNL while running for VP - was a seasoned politician before joining John McCain's ticket.

"You got to remember, it's not like they just plucked us off the fishing boat with scales still under our nails, you know?" says the father of Bristol Palin.

On a lighter note, during the campaign, Todd Palin, a champion snowmobile racer, had a blast chilling with his temporary Secret Service protection.

"They liked cruising around with me," he says, "we went to the Arctic Cat snowmachine factory and then drove up to North Dakota, went to a Penn State-Michigan football game, went to a NASCAR race. Rough duty, hanging out with me."

As 2008 winds down, it's time to reflect upon those - from household names to relative unknowns, from A- to D-list - who made this year so memorable.

The Hollywood Gossip is unveiling 10 finalists for its 2nd Annual Celebrity of the Year award. They've given us their best, their worst, even their nude pictures in some cases. Now it is time for us to give something back with this moving tribute.

We previously profiled the political Home-Wrecker or the Millennium, Rielle Hunter. Today, we present Celebrity of the Year finalist #9 … The Palin Family!

When Sarah Palin burst on the scene at the end of August as the Republicans' nominee for Vice President, she took the political and celeb gossip worlds by storm.

Rumors that Sarah's daughter Bristol was actually the mother of Sarah's son Trig led to the revelation that Bristol Palin was pregnant with boyfriend Levi Johnston.

While Sarah invigorated the GOP base and ignited a media firestorm, incredible sound bytes from SNL look-alike Tina Fey and the candidate herself soon followed.

Now that Bristol Palin is officially 18 (as of October 18), Republican V.P. candidate Sarah Palin says she's hoping Bristol and fiancé Levi Johnston – who are expecting a baby in December – will tie the knot before next summer.

"Hopefully before that," Sarah Palin told People.

Palin and Ballas

"That's what we wanted her to wait for: to turn 18, and a decision on her own about how she's going to go forward, her and Levi, at this point."

Taking a break between campaign speeches in New Hampshire, Sarah and husband, Todd Palin, both 44, spoke about Bristol, Tina Fey and sex ed.

They also answered questions about politics, life with five kids – ages 6 months to 19 years – and what's next for the Alaska governor, win or lose:

Q: Do you two ever look at each other and just go, This is insane?

Sarah Palin: I haven't had time to yet.

Q: With the kids traveling, how do they keep up with school?

Sarah Palin: They've been going back and forth and bringing schoolwork with them. Yeah. It's workin'. With our help and Grandma's and Grandpa's help.

Q: Your crowds are adoring but the criticism is sometimes tough. Todd, Elizabeth in Nashville asks, Is it hard not to stick up for Sarah?

Todd Palin: When you get into this business, it's expected. I do [feel protective] but it's just entertainment.

Sarah Palin: They take their shots; that's some people's entertainment.

Is Brad Hanson the male Rielle Hunter?

It's too early to tell, but the National Enquirer was right the last time - and now they're finally publishing the name of the man they believe had an intimate affair with Alaska Governor and Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

At long last revealing their source (Palin “family insider” Jim Burdett) and claiming he went through a “vigorous polygraph test,” the celeb news tabloid is alleging that Palin had an extramarital affair around 1996 with Brad Hanson.

"I’ve known about Brad having had an affair for a long time, but it wasn’t until recently that I learned his affair was with Sarah Palin," Burdett said, noting that Brad Hanson previously owned a snowmobile dealership with Sarah's husband, Todd Palin.

"Sarah Palin was elected mayor of Wasilla, Brad became a city council member in the nearby town of Palmer, and they started an affair. Todd found out about the affair and was so mad he broke up their partnership at the snowmobile dealership."

Todd Palin, husband of GOP vice-presidential candidate and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, is to be subpoenaed in the state investigation into whether his wife possibly abused the power in having her former brother-in-law fired.

Nicknamed the First Dude by his spouse's constituents, Todd Palin was one of 13 people who will be called to testify in the probe, according to a 3-2 decision by the Alaska State Judiciary Committee, according to reports.

Kiss 4 U

Known as "Troopergate," the investigation got underway before Sarah Palin entered the national spotlight as John McCain's running mate.

Supporters and an attorney for Sarah Palin have called the probe politically motivated and have pushed for the matter to be handled by the three-member State Personnel Board, which is appointed by the Alaska Governor.

The ex-wife of a man said to have had an affair with Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin tells it's "absolutely, completely false."

"I can tell you this with 1,000 percent certainty, Sarah Palin never had an affair," said Debbie Richter when reached on Friday afternoon.

Palin as a Mother

The rumor that her now ex-husband, Scott Richter, had an affair with Sarah Palin gained momentum after the National Enquirer reported she had been romantically involved with one of Todd Palin's former business associates.

The John McCain-Sarah Palin campaign threatened to sue over the story.

One celebrity news tabloid claims that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin had an affair with a former business associate of Todd Palin. Seems like a bit of a stretch to us.

It would be easy to dismiss as pure tabloid trash, but this next piece of information makes the latest Palin scandal at least a little intriguing.
