O-Town has answered the prayers of music fans everywhere.

The group announced this week that it will release an album in August, its first set of new work since 2002's "O2."

And just as O-Town prepares for a comeback, rumors of a One Direction breakup are everywhere today, following a leaked video of members Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson smoking pot.

These contrasting stories serve as the latest reminders that the lives of boy bands can be memorable and long-lasting... or forgetful and fleeting. But always very handsome.

Remember when NSYNC reunited at the MTV Video Music Awards last year and fans lost their minds?

Well... let's hope you've bookmarked a video of that performance on your computer. Because it won't be happening again any time soon.

"It was fun, it was interesting, but I don't know if it's ever going to happen again," Joey Fatone told Huffington Post this week. "I don't know whether or not something will ever happen again, but again you always say never say never because that happened.

"That was never gonna happen and all of a sudden it did happen."

Their In a World Like This Tour went so well (apparently) in 2013, the reunited Backstreet Boys have decided to extend it into this summer - with Avril Lavigne!

The late '90s live as the singer will join the group as opening act for a two-month foray into North American amphitheaters, according to reports.

After a string of Canadian shows in early May, the tour will return to the U.S. for 23 concerts, beginning May 22 at the WaMu Theater in Seattle, Wash.

"We really wanted to put together a great show and do our best to give everyone their money's worth," Backstreet's Brian Littrell said in a press release.

"Avril is an unbelievably talented artist who's a perfect fit."

If only they could get her husband Chad Kroeger to join.

Backstreet is back... ALRIGHT!

In celebration of their 20th year as a group, The Backstreet Boys confirmed this morning to Ryan Seacrest that they will soon be embarking on a North American tour.

“That’s right, baby! All five of us are back together," said Nick Carter. "It’s our 20th anniversary tour. We’ve got a brand new album coming out.”

The singer – Nick, Kevin Richardson, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean, and Howie Dorough – will be joined on tour supporting acts Jesse McCartney and Pauly D.

It looks and sounds like they still have the right stuff.

As they prepare to cross the country this summer on a tour together, New Kids on the Block and The Backstreet Boys (NKOTBSB) found time this morning to perform a medley of hits on The Today Show.

The groups kicked off its performance with the New Kids on "The Right Stuff," and they were soon joined by The Boys for a mash-up that included "Larger Than Life." Watch now:
