Yes, Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal were spotted around New York City this week.

But no matter how cozy the pair looked together, a friend of the singer's tells fans they can stop trying to come up with a nickname for this twosome. They aren't a couple.

"Taylor is very serious about her career," this source told People. "For her, it's all about the career right now. She's not really interested in getting heavily involved with anyone."

It's hard to imagine when Swift would even find time to date. She's spent the entire month promoting her new album, "Speak Now," appearing this week on The Today Show and The Late Show with David Letterman, both of which are pictured above.

One is a married mother of two. The other dates around a lot and writes songs about it.

One will soon be seen every week on American Idol. The other released a new album this month.

But while Jennifer Lopez and Taylor Swift differ in some ways, and share other traits, one thing is certain about each star: she has heart! Literally! Sort of!

At least that's the case when it comes to the shirt both celebs were recently spotted out in. Grade this look now and vote in the poll below:

While rumors about her love life continue to swirl - GyllenSwift, anyone? - Taylor Swift is in full-on album promotion mode.

The singer's new CD hit stores yesterday and Swift treated fans in New York City to a surprise on behalf of it: she performed a free concert in Central Park.

As far as we know, no ex-boyfriends were harmed during the event, as fans attendees cheered wildly for Taylor. The talented crooner was accompanied by an orchestra, a piano and a lovely day. Click on the following photos to enlarge each...

Is the world ready for Gyllenswift?

According to witnesses, Taylor Swift was backstage at Saturday Night Live this weekend, supporting friend and host Emma Stone. But the singer wasn't alone: Jake Gyllenhaal was by her side.

“She looked like she was dreaming while she was there," reports Lainey Gossip. "And they left together. And they’ve been seen all around New York together: brunch, shopping, what people do when they start dating."

What do you think of the potential for Gyllenswift/Swyllenhaal?

Swift has been in the news a lot lately, mostly because her new album comes out today, but also because at least one of the singles off it is clearly dedicated to John Mayer. And not in a good way.

In other words: if this rumor is true, the 29-year old Gyllenhaal - who dated Reese Witherspoon for two years - might wanna be careful. He doesn't want Taylor to title a song "Dear Jake" on her next CD.

She's bitter toward Joe Jonas, apologetic toward Taylor Lautner and hateful of John Mayer.

Indeed, Taylor Swift is not shy when it comes to kissing, telling and singing about her ex-boyfriends. But the artist insists her goal isn't to actually avenge former flings with her music.

"I just write from my perspective about how it ended up and what I felt about it," she told Us Weekly this week in preparation for "Speak Now" to be released on October 26.

Taylor adds that she's "proud" of her work and doesn't fear a backlash from future boyfriends over fear they'll be included in a song.

"I've always lived by the theory that if a guy doesn't want me to write a bad song about him, he won't do bad things," she says. "And he shouldn't, you know?"

It was a Caption Contest waiting to happen.

From the moment Taylor Swift released "Dear John," her latest single and thinly-veiled John Mayer condemnation, the floodgates opened. But who won?

That distinction goes out to Emma, with honorable mentions going to Nicole Frett, Leo and Bev. The winning entry appears below. Thanks for playing!

I hereby pronounce you "Sir Douchebag."

Taylor Swift might have raised her middle finger to John Mayer in a new single, and may have apologized to Taylor Lautner in another song off her upcoming album, but don't get the singer wrong:

She isn't bitter about her love life or sad over her single status. Quite the opposite, in fact.

"Being single is wonderful and I love it," Swift says in the latest issue of People. "I don't ever have a morning where I wake up and say, 'I really need to find a boyfriend today.'"

Taylor admits there have been "extreme joy, extreme pain [and] extreme curveballs" in her love life, but she gets through it all by writing song after song after song.

In "Back to December," Taylor Swift pretty clearly apologizes to Taylor Lautner.

In "Dear John," - another single off Swift's upcoming album, "Speak Now" - the singer even more clearly raises a giant middle finger to John Mayer.

A Swift Profile

A few months ago, the douchebag of an artist appeared to brag about hooking up with Swift. A witness even described the pair looking cozy during a night out together.

We have no idea what went down between these two, but consider that Taylor said of her new album "every single song is like a roadmap to what [a] relationship stood for;" consider the title in question; and consider the following lyrics and then decide for yourself if this is meant for John Mayer...

One day, Taylor Swift might appear on Glee.

For now, though, the young singer is making the rounds and promoting her upcoming album in a number of television and print interviews. One of the latest, with Parade Magazine, features Swift opening up about life, love and her biggest fear. Excerpts are below.

On love: Love is fascinating. Wishing for it, pining for it, and the anger that comes when you lose it. I used to think that I could figure out some pattern to love, like if you don’t text a guy back for a half hour, he’ll like you more. But there is no pattern. Absolutely nothing is predictable in love or in life.
