Taylor Swift CoverGirl Ad: Banned in UK For Excessive Photoshopping!
This gives new meaning to the phrase "Picture to Burn" ... or something.
Procter & Gamble recently pulled a CoverGirl print ad featuring singer Taylor Swift in the UK because it was among a group of ads cited by a watchdog for excessive Photoshop use. Yes, there is seriously a consumer watchdog group for that.
Take a look at the yanked Taylor Swift image below:
The National Advertising Division (NAD), the ad industry's self-regulatory body created to review factual claims in national advertisements, issued a statement saying:
"It has determined that [P&G] acted properly in discontinuing superior performance claims made in print advertising for its CoverGirl NatureLuxe Mousse Mascara."
Specifically, the NAD asked P&G to verify that the mascara has two times more volume vs. bare lashes and is 20 percent lighter than the most expensive mascara.
The watchdog also criticized "implied messages" - that consumers "would get lashes like those depicted in the advertisement and that the lashes depicted in the photograph were achieved solely by using [the mascara] ... without post-production enhancement."
While this is a bit silly, so is retouching Taylor Swift in the first place.
She's kind of almost perfect as is, are we wrong? Love you girl.
Happy 22nd Birthday, Taylor Swift!
Taylor Swift turns 22 years old today and one thing is certain: the superstar has no shortage of friends with whom she can celebrate.
Just consider her duets over the past few months alone: Swift sang with Selena Gomez in NYC; with Flo Rida in Miami; and with Usher in Atlanta, just to name a few.
Indeed, this is one popular young icon, but she's also one who never forgets her fans. So raise your hands, make them into a heart, Taylor-style, and send in your birthday shout-outs to the new 22-year old right now. She'll most definitely appreciate them and, hey, this is Taylor Swift.
Maybe she'll write a song about you one day.
Taylor Swift vs. Miley Cyrus: Are They Role Models?
Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus have very different sounds (country vs. pop); different looks (blonde vs. brunette); and different philosophies on where they stand as celebrities.
Cyrus - who most recently came under fire for making a joke about marijuana - has made it clear that she just wants to be a typical teenager whose occupation happens to make her rich and famous.
“My job isn’t to tell your kids how to act or how not to act because I’m still figuring that out myself,” Miley told Harper’s Bazaar a few months ago. “To take that away from me is a bit selfish. Your kids are going to make mistakes whether I do or not.”
Swift, conversely, is happy to embrace her status as a role model. She understands it comes with the territory.
At the Billboard Women of the Year Awards on Friday, Taylor referenced Faith Hill in an interview with Katie Couric, saying:
“For me, when Faith Hill performed on an awards show, everything mattered... everything she said said, did, wore I tried to copy it. That’s what little girls do, so there is a big responsibility and I take it very seriously.”
Two artists. Two contrasting points of view. On whose side do you fall? Do you believe Taylor and Miley are role models and should act as such?

Taylor Swift has come out with the official video for her fifth track of the platinum album, "Speak Now."
The superstar has said she had a "very definitive" vision for what she wanted to do with "Ours," and director Declan Whitebloom was all too happy to abide by the advice of the singer/songewriter, he told E! News:
"When Taylor says, 'I've got an idea,' you listen to what she's gonna say. And so I did, and it was a great idea - and I loved it!"

In the video, Swift takes on the role of an office worker having a no good, terrible, very bad day... until she remember that there's a special someone on whom she can count. And he's played by former Friday Night Lights quarterback Zach Gilford! Watch it below:

Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez: The Madison Square Garden Duet!
No offense, Johnny Rzeznik. But we've forgotten about you already.
On Monday evening, Taylor Swift invited the Goo Goo Dolls frontman to join her on stage at Madison Square Garden for a version of "Iris." It was perfectly decent. But it can't compare to the fun duet Swift put on last night, also in New York City, with another special guest:
Selena Gomez! These pals belted out a rendition of the former's "Who Says," one that can scarcely be heard in the following video above the screams of those in attendance. Can you blame them? This is the first time Taylor and Selena have performed together. Enjoy the double team now:
Who Joined Taylor Swift on Stage in NYC?
It really is Taylor Swift's world. We just live in it.

The lucky participant on this night of the Speak Now tour? Johnny Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls. He came out and performed a version of "Iris" that had the crowd both on its feet and singing along. Watch the pair strum along together now:
AMA Fashion Face-Off: Taylor Swift vs. Selena Gomez
It's difficult to determine who was the big winner at the 2011 American Music Awards.
Taylor Swift did take home three trophies, including Artist of the Year. But Selena Gomez arrived at the event with Justin Bieber as her date. Should we call it a tie?
Either way, Swift and Gomez - good friend who sat next to each other during the ceremony - are going head-to-head in this Fashion Face-Off, as both stars walked the red carpet and both looked very pretty. But who looked the prettiest? That's the questions, folks. Decide now:
Taylor Swift Embraces Role as Role Model
Taylor Swift will be featured on tomorrow night's installment of 60 Minutes and, in a few excerpts released from the upcoming interview, the star makes it clear that she's open to her status as a role model.
"I definitely think about a million people when I'm getting dressed in the morning, and that's just part of my life now," Swift tells the news magazine. "I think it's my responsibility to know it and to be conscious of it."
While other artists may have gotten into trouble over the years for drunk driving or the smoking of substances, Swift won't ever use her age as an excuse for any behavior of this type.
"It would be really easy to say 'I'm 21 now, I do what I want. You raise your kids!'" Swift says. "But it's not the truth of it. The truth of it is that every singer out there with songs on the radio is raising the next generation."
Have we mentioned recently how much we adore Taylor Swift?
