Taylor Momsen Retires From Acting
Taylor Momsen just turned 18.
That's still extremely young, but the Pretty Reckless singer told Elle magazine that she has "quit acting" and wants to focus solely on her music career:
"I quit Gossip Girl and now tour and am in a band. That's pretty much all I want to do. Hopefully, I'll be able to only do that for the rest of my life."
In November, Momsen began an "indefinite hiatus" from Gossip Girl amid numerous headlines about her shocking wardrobe and interviews.
In May, the CW confirmed that next season, she would not reprise her role as Jenny Humphrey. Jessica Szohr is also gone as Vanessa Abrams.
As far as Momsen's concerned, it's all good with her plans.
"[Music] is all I ever wanted to do with my life," she says.
"I've dreamed of wanting to make records and tour, so it's very exciting that our first record is coming out and people can actually hear it."
Happy 18th Birthday, Taylor Momsen!
She may be inappropriate, but Taylor Momsen is now legal at least.
Now 18, the Gossip Girl actress, model and Pretty Reckless singer can now vote, buy a lotto ticket, purchase the cigarettes she's fond of smoking, and marry a groupie in a quickie Vegas wedding without parental consent! Sweet!
Best of all, those experiencing a Taylor Momsen flashing in concert can now enjoy it, knowing it's technically an adult. Happy birthday, Taylor!
Happy birthday, Taylor!
Taylor Momsen Flashes Breasts in Concert
Taylor Momsen is certainly going all out with the bad ass act.
The raccoon-eyed rock chick from Gossip Girl turned heads in Leicestershire, England by baring her breasts in concert. This was no accidental slippage, either.
Her sleeves were ripped wide open to reveal full-on breast viewage, with only a pair of duct tape X marks strategically placed over the nipple region. Classy.
She's far from the only singer to use her sex appeal (if you can call it that) in such exhibitionist fashion, Momsen is just 17 years old. Seventeen, people.
It's a bit much, to say nothing of the fact that for a girl who says she wants to let her music do the talking, she sure gets people talking about ... other stuff.
No one's telling Taylor she can't do what other stars do. The Pretty Reckless' music is actually pretty good, in fact. But maybe spare us the peep show?
At least until she's legal? Would be a little less awkward.

Taylor Momsen, Jessica Szohr Leaving Gossip Girl
Taylor Momsen and Jessica Szohr will not be back on Gossip Girl next fall.
The two actresses, both of whom have been with the buzzed-about CW hit's cast from the start, will not be returning for the fifth season, a show rep says.
Both Momsen, who has made clear her desire to focus on her rock career, and Szohr have been invited to guest star in the future, so things are amicable.
The remaining Gossip Girl gang, however, is intact, with Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Ed Westwick and Chace Crawford all planning to return.
Actress Kaylee DeFer is also joining the permanent cast as Charlie Rhodes, cousin to Serena van der Woodsen (Lively) and niece of Lily (Kelly Rutherford).
Momsen, who fronts the Pretty Reckless, began an "indefinite hiatus" from the show last fall amid headlines about her shocking interviews and fashion.
Szohr has always struggled to hit her stride on Gossip Girl, although that's more the fault of the writers than the actress. Hopefully this move is for the best.
Taylor Momsen: It's Okay Mom and Dad!
It wasn't long ago that Taylor Momsen blamed her "damaged" and abrasive attitude on her parents, who forced her into modeling and acting so early.
Now she appears to be backing off that sentiment.
The Gossip Girl star tells Kerrang! magazine (UK) that her comments were taken out of context when she said her folks made her "miserable" and "upset."
"No two year old wants to be working, but I had no choice," Taylor said. "My whole life, I was in and out of school. I didn't have friends. I didn't have a real life."
In a rare moment of softness, Taylor now lets her parents off the hook, revealing she didn't really mean to slam mom and dad, who felt "horrible" about all this.
"I love my mom and dad. Maybe I didn't have the childhood people think you should have, but I still went through the ages, I was still a child," she says now.
"Maybe it wasn't a conventional one, but you know, I like where I am now so it's OK."
We like where she is too. Now if she would just smile once in awhile ...
Taylor Momsen: A Product of the Industry
Taylor Momsen recently had an enlightening realization.
"You get more insight as you get older, on everything. I kind of woke up one morning and was like, 'Oh I see what's happening, I get everything.'"
"I woke up and was like, 'I get it, I'm a product.'"
"Fame just kind of happens overnight. No one can prepare you for it. On Gossip Girl, I was just going to work, doing what I've always done."
"Then all of a sudden you're like, 'Woah!' But you get used to it. You ignore it. 'Cause whatever people say about me doesn't bother me at all."
"It doesn't matter if you're in high school or college or at work, someone's not going to like you. It's inevitable. But it doesn't mean anything."
Sage words from someone so young. Between all the pro-masturbation comments and topless concert photos, our little girl is really maturing.
For a look at some of this "product" in action, here's Taylor and her band, The Pretty Reckless, performing their hit "Make Me Wanna Die" ...
Scottish Crowd to Taylor Momsen: BOO!
Note to Taylor Momsen ... remember what country you're in.
If there's a silver lining to be found here, it's that no topless photos were involved in the latest Taylor Momsen concert debacle. But she was booed, hard.
Performing in Glasgow, Scotland, with her band, The Pretty Reckless, the singer told the crowd they were "the craziest in the whole of England." Ouch ...
Hey, at least Taylor was trying to compliment the audience.
The Daily Record says "people began to cheer as they presumed she was going to say Scotland, but when the penny dropped, all you could hear was boos."
"I think she needs geography lessons," said offended fan Stuart Neilson. "There isn't any excuse. Surely someone backstage could've said something to her."
Apparently not realizing the mistake, the band continued to play undeterred, albeit baffled, without an apology. But the Gossip Girl star did realize it later.
The starlet later took to her Twitter to clear the air, saying, "Glasgow, I love you, I now HAVE to tour SCOTLAND (haha, sorry bout the slip up!)."
Taylor Momsen: A Promoter of Masturbation
Don't look at us. She said it. And because Taylor Momsen is so edgy and cool, she can talk about masturbating a lot and it makes her awesome. Deal.
In an interview with The Guardian (UK), Taylor said unequivocally that “I’m a promoter of masturbation. Don’t sleep around ... learn yourself first!"
"Guys do, but girls don’t. And that’s why girls have so many bad experiences. But you can know your body, know yourself, know what feels good."
PLEASURE YOURSELF, KIDS: Seriously, the Gossip Girl star says it's cool!
"You don’t have to give yourself away just to have sexual relevance," she adds.
"I don’t think sex is something people should be afraid of. It’s part of human nature. I don’t think it should be shameful, particularly for girls and young girls.”
The Pretty Reckless singer may look back on this and wish she'd shut her yap (that or she'll blame her parents like usual), but doesn't make a terrible point.
Hold out, don't put out, girls. There are alternatives that don't talk back.
Vintage Taylor Momsen: Pre-Gothic Barbie Daze
Taylor Momsen may be an underage boob-flashing, gothic wannabe and a bad role model, but she used to be a cute kid once. It's all her parents' fault.
Even though she claims she's been pushed into a miserable life she hates, back in the day, the Gossip Girl star was just happy as a clam... or a chicken?
Check out this Shake N' Bake that aired in 1997, featuring three-year-old T-Moms selling us on the hearty goodness of "mom's little helper." Delish ...
Taylor Momsen on Sucking: It's My Parents' Fault!
Reflecting on why she's the way she is, Taylor Momsen blames her folks for robbing her of a healthy childhood, insisting they're the reason she's so miserable.
The Gossip Girl star, model and lead singer of The Pretty Reckless said, "Everyone's like, 'Wow, why is she upset and why is she so miserable about things?'"
"My parents signed me up with Ford [modeling agency] at the age of two," she lamented. "No two-year-old wants to be working, but I had no choice."
SAD GOTHIC BARBIE: It's Taylor Momsen's parents' fault!!!
The 17-year-old continued, "My whole life, I was in and out of school. I didn't have any friends. I was working constantly and I didn't have a real life."
Poor thing.
Don't get us wrong, it starts with upbringing. But it's hard to imagine her parents are pleased with - or responsible for - Taylor Momsen topless concert appearances or magazine shoots with guns and lingerie. That's on you, T.
