Suge Knight has NOT been arrested for the unsolved 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur, despite what recent Twitter rumors would have you believe.

The ex-Death Row honcho's crime record includes prison stints for drug possession, assault and probation violations over the last quarter century.

It does not, however, include a recent murder accusation.

Tupac was signed to Knight's label when he was gunned down in a Las Vegas drive-by in 1996, a murder that has never led to an arrest ... possibly because Shakur is not really dead, at least according to conspiracy theorists.

Spokeswoman Laura Meltzer of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, which allegedly arrested Knight, spoke to E! about the rumor:

"I don't have any information that [Suge Knight was arrested]. We picked him up on traffic warrants in February ... that is the last arrest I show for him."

Marion "Suge" Knight was arrested in Las Vegas yesterday after a traffic stop. Cops say the hip hop mogul was carrying marijuana on him at the time.

Law enforcement sources say the one-time Death Row CEO was pulled over at 5:34 p.m. Wednesday for making an unsafe lane change in his Bentley.

Police ran Suge's name in the system (must have sat there for hours) and found multiple warrants out for his arrest, stemming from traffic violations.

After a quick search, police say they discovered a small amount of marijuana in Suge's possession. Knight was hauled off to a nearby jail for processing.

He was released a short time later after the obligatory mug shot.

Things could get worse for the man, though. Suge Knight is currently on three years unsupervised probation for driving on a suspended license.

Might wanna considering just getting a driver, Marion.

Marion "Suge" Knight was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, involving a firearm. He was pulled over and taken into custody early this morning.

He was also taken into custody for driving on a suspended license. Knight is still in custody and bail is set at $65,000 ... pretty small amount for Suge.

Authorities said that Knight was arrested in connection to an alleged crime that occurred shortly before his arrest ... but they wouldn't elaborate further.

A witness in the incident told police that the rap executive pointed a gun at another car this morning - while sitting in the driver's seat of his own SUV.

No word if the target was Akon or Yukmouth.

Reports say after cops received the information, officers located Suge's car in the Los Angeles area and initiated a "high risk stop" - i.e. guns were drawn.

Officers drew their firearms and ordered Suge - and two women - out of the vehicle.  Suge was eventually taken into custody and arrested for assault.

Pretty run of the mill stuff for the hip hop mogul. Knight should be free, accept a plea deal and be back on the streets terrorizing people before long.

Former Death Row Records head honcho and occasional hard ass criminal Suge Knight allegedly beat and robbed rapper Yukmouth and is wanted by police.

Sources say the attack on the rapper, whose name is quite apt, albeit misspelled, took place at a Ralph's supermarket in the San Fernando Valley last night.

According to a law enforcement source, Suge and roughly 10 members of his posse allegedly beat up Yukmouth and then took $92,000 worth of jewelry.

In the world of Suge, he went easy on Yuks.

Sources say Suge and his entourage are suspects and that authorities want to question them. This has happened to Knight probably a few hundred times before.

Also, there's reportedly a previous misdemeanor warrant out for Suge's arrest, which puts him right up there in DMX's league in terms of multiple court dates.

The moral of the story: DO NOT MESS WITH SUGE KNIGHT.

The LAPD nabbed Greg Smith late Sunday night on an outstanding warrant - seems Greg forgot a court date. You know, one of his prior ones.

To make matters worse, when cops approached him, Greg Smith took off! So the thug has also been booked for resisting arrest, as well.

Maybe it was a deliberate move on Greg Smith's part to get busted.
