The first official trailer for season 11 of American Idol is a bit painful. Talk about cheesy!

But it's nothing compared to the pain endured by judge Steven Tyler yesterday, as Reuters reports the Aerosmith singer fell in the shower and lost two front teeth. He also suffered a few gashes to his face.

The accident took place in Paraguay, as Tyler was rushed to the hospital for emergency dental work and underwent a four-hour stay at La Costa medical center. Aerosmith was understandably forced to cancel its performance as a result.

What caused the fall? Food poisoning," says Eric Sherman. He tells People: "He was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released."

You don't need to Dream On, Aerosmith fans. This iconic band has some Amazing news that will certainly not leave you Cryin: it is releasing a new album!

Jack Douglas, who has produced past CDs for the group such as "Toys in the Attic" and "Draw the Line" says he, Steven Tyler and company will soon return to the studio for their first release since 2004.

"This album will be raw, nasty, tough rock with a good deal of the old Aerosmith 'tongue in cheek,'" Douglas says, adding that it will likely it stores in May.

Tyler and Joe Perry clashed when the former accepted his gig as a judge on American Idol last season, with the latter claiming he was "looking for a new singer to work with." But the frontman has simply gained new levels of fame and a new fan base since then, which is pretty much What It Takes for all to be forgiven.

This just in: Steven Tyler's still got it.

While fellow judge Jennifer Lopez took to the stage last night and showcased her sexy dance moves, the Aerosmith singer kicked off his performance by sitting at the piano and then belting out a version of the inspiring classic "Dream On."

Is there any other male singer that can hit the high notes heard here? We doubt it. Give Tyler a listen and then give him a standing O. After all these years, the rocker can seriously bring it...

Follow the jump for Carrie and Steven - American Idol stars past and present - performing a medley of "Undo it" and "Walk This Way" at the event.

They actually sounded pretty good together ...

A mean Randy Jackson? A tearful Jennifer Lopez? A shy Thia Megia?

At yesterday's American Idol panel at PaleyFest 2011, producers and contestants dished on season 10 of the country's most popular show. Read on for an intimate look at the judging table and a lot more...

Steven Tyler, J. Lo and Randy Jackson

Producer Ken Warwick, on the new Dawg: "He keeps it real... Randy brings it back and smack, this is what we think and this is where it is. He's great this year."

Let's get one thing clear: Charlie Sheen quotes from this week will never be topped.

We could combine Michael Lohan with Sarah Palin and feed them with nothing but tequila for days and they would still be unable to top the lunacy that spewed forth from the actor's mouth over the past several days. To wit:

Still, one man has stepped up and at least earned honorable mention since being thrust back into the national spotlight. Consider some of the gems Steven Tyler has uttered during his stint on American Idol:

Well hellfire, save matches, f--- a duck and see what hatches! | permalink
You went up into the way-out-osphere, you went to squeak-land. That's insane. | permalink
From my melodic sensibility, it was really delicious. | permalink
I've never heard anybody squeeze that song, but you squeezed it so slow it sounded like Vanilla Fudge singing 'Eleanor Rigby. | permalink
Slap that baby on the ass and call me Christmas! | permalink

Below, we've collected the very best of Tyler's recent work on Idol. Dare we even ask: Can he compete with Sheen in the department of crazy?

Rock star-turned-American Idol judge Steven Tyler is used to the bright lights of Hollywood, feeling right at home at the NBA All-Star Game Sunday in L.A.

Carmelo Anthony? He's just grateful for a three-day break from the isolated, snowy, oxygen-deprived hellhole that is Denver. Just trade the guy already!

We kid, Coloradans. We love the Mile High City and would gladly accept a three-year, $65 million deal to move THG there. Y'know, if you're interested.

Anyway, who looked better on the magenta carpet last night? Vote:

Having already sat in for numerous season 10 auditions, Steven Tyler has a clear idea of how he'll serve as an American Idol judge. And it won't be akin to a certain cantankerous Brit.

"I'm really not one for giving insults," Tyler says. "[Contestants] have a voice and I don't want them not singing to their kids when they grow up."

The show will likely feature fewer trainwrecks during its opening set of episodes, which should make things easier for Tyler. Below, however, this Christmas promo does give voice to those without a good voice:

As for his new partner in judging, Tyler has nothing but great things to say about Jennifer Lopez.

"First and foremost, she's a lady and she's not afraid to show that at any given time... she's exactly what I thought she'd be. She's street."

Well... okay then. Chime in now, readers: Are you excited about the addition of Tyler and Lopez to American Idol?
