On the recent season finale of The Hills, Heidi Montag announced she needed space and time to reflect and reassess her life - without Spencer Pratt.

The Hills finale ended with millions of fans wondering what lies ahead in terms of Speidi's wedding - the couple viewers have grown to love ... to hate.

My Dad is a Hunk

In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly (which might as well change its name to Heidi Montag PR Weekly), an often tense Montag and Pratt explain exactly why their engagement was broken off, and claim they are still together.

They have no plans to get married, however.

Says Heidi Montag: "We're going back to being boyfriend and girlfriend." Pratt interjects without mockery: "When our relationship was flawless."

Barf. As for Montag's possibly fake, definitely elusive engagement ring?

"I turned it into a pendant," the aspiring singer and media whore says. "It wasn't my dream ring. I don't like what it represents. I might sell it."

Heidi Montag Weekly, also known as Us Weekly, gives us the scoop.

Think Lauren Conrad - who loathed Spencer Pratt from the start and warned Montag about his evil ways - is currently smiling at Heidi's misfortunes?

"It would be really sad if she did, but her opinions don't affect me at all," Heidi Montag told the magazine. "She's not a part of my life now."

Meanwhile, Spencer Pratt is sorry for how this happened: "I need to accept that Heidi wants her princess wedding and that she is the boss."

Montag, for her part, doesn't sound ready to give up on this quite yet: "I have a high tolerance for pain. After all, I've lived with Spencer."

As 2007 draws to a close, it's time to reflect and pay tribute to the stars who made this a year to remember. On that note, The Hollywood Gossip is announcing its 10 finalists for its first annual Celebrity of the Year award.

They've given us their best, their worst and, in a more than a few cases, their naked pictures. Now it is time for us to give a little something back with this special feature, because without these celebrities, we are nothing.

We previously profiled High Schol Musical hunk Zac Efron at #7. Now, without further delay, we present Celebrity of the Year finalist #6 … The Hills cast!

In a manner of speaking, Lauren Conrad is the straw the stirs The Hills drink. At the same time, without Lauren's smarmy and sexy supporting cast, this Laguna Beach spin-off would never have been catapulted to its massive success.

In Season 3 of The Hills, the end of LC's friendship with Heidi Montag turned into to a public feud, with conflict outside the show spilling into the media.

Suckin' Face

A Year in The Hills: Star Lauren Conrad led her life, Spencer and Heidi staged a lot of pics, Jason Wahler went to rehab and jail, and Whitney Port sure looked pretty.

Amidst rumors of the Lauren Conrad sex tape, much of the season served as a mole hunt as Lauren had suspicions that the (false) sex tape rumors of were spread by Heidi and boyfriend Spencer Pratt (both Heidi and Spencer denied it).

Combine that central theme with former star Jason Wahler getting arrested four times, Spencer and Heidi getting engaged and staging bikini photo shoots every other day, LC's friend Whitney Port stepping into the limelight, and romance rumors involving Lauren Conrad and Brody Jenner, and a hit series was born.

The drama was so widespread that even bit players such as Gavin Beasley, Stephanie Pratt, Justin-Bobby Brescia and Jenn Bunney got in on the action. It was a year to remember on The Hills, and with at least eight new episodes coming next spring, we can only hope for a repeat - and then some - in 2008.

Heidi Montag is still not wearing her fake-ass engagement ring. This is news, apparently, to some people, even though she's openly said that she doesn't wear it out a lot of the time because it doesn't fit right.

Of course, you can have it sized. But no matter.

A July 4 Kiss

Last week, Spencer Pratt blatantly lied to told metrosexual radio host Ryan Seacrest "the wedding is definitely on pause." This weekend, the stars of The Hills were seen walking around L.A.'s Brentwood neighborhood. Sans engagement ring.

Heidi Montag rarely, if ever, wears her engagement ring. Spencer Pratt, on the other hand, wears that "Obey" shirt like every other day. Are we wrong, people?

Montag fueled split rumors - or tried to - last Monday by showing up solo at The Hills finale by not wearing her ring. The following day, Spencer Pratt spoke out about their wedding plans on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show:

"In my mind ... I'm not moving on or looking for dates. I don't know where Heidi is, I know she needs her space, but I don't want to get back to my bachelor days. Heidi is the most perfect girl on the planet."

Spencer Pratt said he expected all questions to be answered in the eight "bonus" episodes of The Hills' third season to air this spring.

Somewhere, Lauren Conrad is smiling.

If you like to read The Hills spoilers or wanna know anything that's going to happen in the eight "bonus" episodes of the hit reality TV show, well... TOO BAD!

Sources say that villainous Scouple pencer Pratt and Heidi Montag - astonishingly - are still very much together and not even trying all that hard to hide it.

Spencer the Caveman

In fact, here is a nice picture of Spencer and Heidi outside Koi - ironically, acting anything but - following Monday night's epic season finale of The Hills.

Sources have also said that the pair is currently playing along with MTV's "reality" while supposedly shopping around a new, Spencer and Heidi-only reality show.

Additionally, insiders have revealed to Perez Hilton that there will be some big shake-ups on The Hills next season. Namely when it comes to Teen Vogue.

"Teen Vogue doesn't want to be affiliated with the show anymore," a source tells Perez. "But they're not obviously going to say that on the show."

Reportedly, Lauren Conrad is going to "think about quitting" and struggle with that for a few episodes. On a related note, The Hills producers are also trying to figure out what to do about Whitney Port and her full-time job at the magazine.

Other reports say that Whitney Port has been trying to get a spin-off show of her own, and while we would love nothing more, we simply can't believe that.

As for Audrina Patridge, well... we don't have any good Hills spoilers or gossip that involves her. Nothing, guys? Anyone hear anything about Audrina? Hello?

After the season finale of The Hills saw Heidi Montag leave Spencer Pratt, the greasy one took to the airwaves Tuesday, telling Ryan Seacrest on his radio show that he's "madly in love with Heidi and trying to win her back to marry her."

"In my mind I'm not moving on or looking for dates. I don't know where Heidi is, I know she needs space, but I don't want to get back to my bachelor days," said Pratt.

Is Spencer Pratt serious? He certainly knew where Heidi Montag was on Sunday. And when they hung with Santa. Or when they ran errands. We could go on.

When Ryan Seacrest asked Spencer Pratt if Heidi Montag was with him during their live phone interview, Pratt only said, "Hahah, nice try."

"Heidi is the most perfect girl on the planet," Spencer added.

Always a hopeless romantic, Spencer Pratt takes Heidi Montag on a gondola ride - Las Vegas style - in this file photo from earlier in the year. Aren't they so cute together?

In fact, Spencer Pratt was dead set on keeping his relationship status with Montag a secret, citing the future, surprise bonus episodes of The Hills as a reason.

"Eight episodes are going to clarify [what happened in the finale]," Pratt said. "It's top secret. I think the wedding is definitely on pause, last I heard."

But if there is one universal truth that applies to The Hills, it's that nothing is altogether as it seems on the quote-unquote MTV reality show.

Sources say the couple was indeed together at Koi following last night's live finale, which Montag attended but Pratt did not. No so Koi, guys.

The melodramatic, tear-jerking, season-ending montage on The Hills - set to Jordin Sparks' debut single, "Tattoo" - featured Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag at a crossroads, unsure if their relationship will survive.

Judging by the bikini photos of the media whore and pimp that we come across every other day, it looks like it did. Anyway, let's recap last night's finale!

Lauren Conrad hinted all week that she made a "life-changing decision" in the Season 3 finale of The Hills, and she made good on her promise.

After passing up a summer internship in Paris to be with then-boyfriend Jason Wahler in Season 1, LC got another chance to visit the fashion capital - and this time, not even a kiss goodbye from Brody Jenner would stop her.

"I haven;t had the best relationships in the past so...  I'm scared to get into a relationship," Jenner said, upon hearing Lauren Conrad was going to Paris.

Guess they're gonna stay, like, good friends.

Earlier, Teen Vogue head Lisa Love announced that Whitney Port alone would be going to Paris to represent the magazine. But later, a need for additional help arose, and Lisa - her very tough boss - finally showed LC some Love.

After the finale, it was announced by Lauren Conrad that this spring, we'll get to see their Paris trip as part of eight bonus episodes of The Hills! Holla!

Whitney Port and Lauren Conrad visit Paris in an episode of The Hills to air this spring. Audrina Patridge, Whitney and Cauren will star in eight bonus Season 3 episodes!

Meanwhile, Spencer and Heidi's ongoing fight over wedding plans prompted Pratt to crash at his folks' house for a few days without contacting Montag.

Upon hearing this, little sister Stephanie Pratt asked what their mom and dad thought about this. Spencer admitted to her that they think he's an idiot.

Heidi then told her coworker, Kimberly, that "I feel like I'm in a relationship with a 5-year-old" and then avoided her fiancé when he stops by her office.

When Spencer Pratt finally returned to their pad, Heidi Montag was packing her bags and telling him she wants to go home to Colorado to reflect on all this.

"It's not working. I need some space," she says as they hug, kiss and cry.

What will happen on the bonus episodes, as Spencer and Heidi stay in SoCal as Lauren and Whitney Port hang out with fashion's elite at the Crillon Ball in Paris? That we will have to wait and see. Needless to say, we can't wait.

Phew! Discuss the night's events and all things about everyone's favorite non-reality reality show in The Hollywood Gossip's exclusive Hills forum!

One brief run-in with Lauren Conrad and a heart-to-heart with Heidi Montag later, Stephanie Pratt went from unknown to bona fide player on The Hills.

Spencer Pratt's younger sis sparked controversy on The Hills when she chewed out Lauren at a club, then spilled the beans to her brother regarding Heidi's hesitation about their wedding.

Now comes the scrutiny of her personal life.

Specifically, a police report - and that subsequent Stephanie Pratt mug shot - stemming a shoplifting arrest occurring in Hawaii in 2006.

Stephanie, 21, has been nothing but open about the bust, as well as her about personal struggles with drug addiction, in the latest issue of Us Weekly.

The younger Pratt says she started smoking pot at 15, and "in a matter of months, I was on to other things ... I was a blackout drinker too."

"Once in history class, I was so high that when the teacher wasn't looking, I asked a girl to feel my heart," Stephanie said.

"It was beating so fast I thought I was going to die."

Even Spencer Pratt couldn't deal with her problem.

The New York Daily News has compiled the list of the dumbest people in Hollywood. Before we unveil the results, it's important to remember that:

  • "Dumb doesn't necessarily correspond to a low IQ. There are poor life choices, style slip-ups and mishaps under the influence to take into account," as the newspaper explained;
  • The survey was completed before news of a Jessica Sierra sex tape broke. We assume this development, coupled with run-ins with the law, along with an offer to orally pleasure the arresting officer, would have landed her on the list.

Ultimately, Lindsay Lohan captured the top spot due to her "poor movie choices, delinquent behavior and bad taste in men," which seems like an unnecessary bashing of Stavros Niarchos, Heath Ledger, Criss Angel, Harry Morton, Riley Giles, AJ Lamas and many more.

We object to second place, however, as the newspaper awarded the dishonor to Kim Kardashian because "it is sad when you leak your sex tape and nobody cares."

Kim may be many things, but the tape in question has certainly helped vault her to the center of the celebrity gossip world.

Naked Kim Kardashian

Getting naked on film and in Playboy, Kim Kardashian made a name for herself.

Spencer Pratt came in third, even though his exploits on The Hills have made himself and Heidi Montag very, very rich. Here are the rest of the rankings:

  • Jeff Kwatinetz, CEO of Beverly Hills management team The Firm and the guy that gave the go-ahead for Britney Spears' infamously horrendous MTV Video Music Awards performance.
  • Shia LaBeouf
  • Heidi Montag
  • Jessica Simpson
  • Kiefer Sutherland
  • Tori Spelling
  • Rumer Willis

Any episode of The Hills is a must-watch for us, but the penultimate Season Three offering was particularly stellar Monday night. Let's get down to business, shall we?

With a little cajoling from pal Whitney Port, Lauren Conrad decided to be a bit more proactive in pursuing Brody Jenner. At a Halloween party at LC's pad, LC defeated him at beer pong, though you could argue that Brody Jenner, dressed as Robin to Frankie Delgado's Batman, was a beaten man by the time he walked in the door.

In typical fashion, however, the palpable chemistry between the two did not result in any hookups as Brody and Frankie left the party early. On a dinner date later in the week - after a funny scene in which Lauren read off the list of babes in Brody's phone - both LC and Brody seemed hesitant to ask the other for a commitment.

It wasn't all bad news at the Halloween party, though. Finally free of Justin-Bobby (real name Justin Brescia), Audrina Patridge has turned her romantic attention to Corey, an easy-going and fun-lovin' Australian fellow who seems very nice.

Lauren couldn't help but rattle off Corey's list of upgrades over Justin-Bobby:

  • He returns telephone calls
  • He likes to kiss
  • He showers

It's hard to argue, as usual, with the logic and wisdom of LC. Needless to say, her roomie and BFF Audrina Patridge is back on the right track with her new man.

Both of the primary couples on the third season of The Hills - Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt / Brody Jenner and Lauren Conrad - debated their futures last night.

On The Hills 2 - as The Hollywood Gossip staff terms alternate universe featuring Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag - tensions rose and a fight for the ages ensued.

At the beginning of the episode, Heidi confided in Spencer's little sister, Stephanie Pratt, about her pre-wedding hesitations and frustrations. Heidi even went so far as to say she is nervous and might want to postpone the wedding day a bit.

Stephanie Pratt, out of concern for her brother, later defied Heidi's orders and told Spencer about this as he went to pick up their save-the-date cards.

He was far from thrilled. Spencer accused Heidi of not wanting to marry him at all because she wants to push the date back. Heidi shot back that she's the only one who sacrifices anything. And so on. Staged or not, this was one hell of an argument. Heidi warned Spencer as he stormed out, "If you leave, don't come back!"

The climactic spat might have resonated more with our staff if we didn't see Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt photos every day in the tabloids, but no matter. It was
one of the better moments from one of the best episodes of The Hills ever.
