We ranked her second after Tuesday night's performance show, but American Idol viewers had a different idea about Siobhan Magnus:

They actually voted out this eccentric singer yesterday, cutting season nine down to five finalists.

While it's true Magnus could rely too much on hitting glory notes, and certainly talked back too much to the judges, at least she brought something unique to the Idol table. With the exception of Crystal Bowersox, can that really be said about anyone remaining?

Goodbye, Siobhan

Equally as surprising as Siobhan's elimination? She was joined in the bottom three by Casey James and Michael Lynche. We'd love for someone to tell us how Aaron Kelly avoided that fate.

At least Shakira performed last night. She and her hips always make us happy. She was joined on stage bu Rascal Flatts, and Sons of Sylvia also played for viewers. Check them all out below, and bid farewell to Magnus now...

Some fans were floored by it, and others weren't impressed, but it's safe to say that 19-year-old Siobhan Magnus' rendition of "Paint it Black" was definitely the most buzzed-about of this week's 12 American Idol performances.

The judges loved it, though Simon even acknowledged that a lot of people are likely to dislike her flamboyant style. That's a compliment, as it beats indifference.

We gotta give it up to Siobhan Magnus for upping the drama, paying tribute to this Rolling Stones classic, yet being original and keeping us riveted throughout.

Here's the performance if you missed it or want another look ...

What do you think? The night's best, or not worth the hype some gave it? Can Siobhan compete for the American Idol title or will she fade fast?

While Crystal Bowersox broke out the electric guitar last night and put on an incredible show once again, we highlighted her American Idol performance last week.

Therefore, Siobhan Magnus gets the honor this time. The glassblowing apprentice from Cape Cod, Massachuetts sang an entire verse of "House of the Rising Sun" a cappella, remaining in control throughout.

It was a brave, impressive rendition. Crystal might not have the women's crown sewn up, after all. Watch and enjoy:

The week after American Idol made its first round of cuts (sorry, Tyler, Janell, Ashley and Joe), we're continuing to ask readers which semifinalists they think will advance the farthest.

Past showdowns between singers, for example, have pitted Katie Stevens vs. Katelyn Epperly. Which of those young beauties has the most potential?

Now, for the first time in this feature, we're mixing up genders. Fox may wish to separate men and women like some sort of middle school dance, but THG is all about integration!

Last Tuesday, viewers voted Siobhan Magnus through after an impressive rendition of Chris Isaac's "Wicked Game." As an alternative to guitar players such as Didi Benami, Magnus may be a dark horse on the female side.

Meanwhile, Aaron Kelly also received good news from voters. His adorable mug will be on full display again this Wednesday. Choose between these contestants below...

Which semifinalist will advance farther on American Idol?

She was one of thousands when she auditioned for American Idol in Boston, but Siobhan Magnus is one of the few remaining.

The Massachusetts native is rumored to be one of this season's 24 semifinalists, as she'll be featured in Hollywood starting this week.

Not much is known about the 19-year old: she sings lead vocals for the band Lunar Valve; is actually a glass-blowing apprentice and loves horror movies.

Siobhan resides in in Cape Cod.

In the video below, watch Magnus take the stage in a production of "Beauty and the Beast."
