He's already a reality show judge and record producer. But Simon Cowell is looking to add another title to his resume: wedding planner.

Speaking to Extra, Cowell offered up an idea for who should sing at the royal nuptials between Prince William and Kate Middleton.

"Susan Boyle would be perfect," said the former American Idol panelist, adding that Boyle's "I Dreamed a Dream" would be the ideal wedding song for the pair.

As the world knows by now, William and Kate got engaged last month and have scheduled their exchanging of vows to take place at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011. Billions are expected to watch on television.

Would Boyle be able to handle that pressure? Do you think she'd made a good choice to sing at the reception?

We already know Robert Pattinson can act, and look extremely handsome.

But did you know the Twilight Saga star can also sing? It's true, but if Pattinson is ever going to release an album, he recently said it would not be under Simon Cowell's guidance.

Robert P. Pic

"He is a clever guy, and he's created artists that he knows the public will like," E! News quotes Rob as saying to Great Britain's The Sun, an unreliable source. "That's why I don't think he could ever launch my music career."

In other words: the man who made Edward Cullen come to life doesn't think his music would catch on.

"I don't think many other people would like it," he says. "I see myself playing in a rundown blues bar, with about three people drowning their sorrows. I play according to my mood, and sometimes that can come across as very depressing in music."

** UPDATE: Rob's manager says this story is untrue, labeling it as just "another headline generated by the Internet."

While American Idol fans across the country worry about whether or not Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler can really fill the void left by Simon Cowell, there's at least one man who's happy that British producer is gone from the judging table:

Nigel Lythgoe.

Lythgoe, who returns this season to take charge of the Fox smash, says the new edition of Idol will feature contestants Cowell never would have let through.

"We've had some incredible country voices. In truth, Simon would have gotten rid of them straight-away because he wasn't a country fan... What you are definitely going to get this season is an American voice and American music."

In honor of Simon Cowell turning 51 today, we ask readers to refrain from sending birthday wishes and instead make a heartfelt plea to the music guru:

Return to American Idol! Please!

Jennifer Lopez actually might fit in well on the judging panel, and Steven Tyler could be entertaining. But Simon made this show and will be missed incredibly on season 10. At least fans can still watch him on X-Factor. Below, we honor the most honest man in the business with a photo montage:

Another American Idol alum celebrates a birthday today: Taylor Hicks is 43. He could use your best wishes.

The dreams of Simon Cowell are about to come true.

No, he won't be tar and feathering Ryan Seacrest.

Instead, the American Idol judge will be staging World's Got Talent some time in 2011, a reality show that will bring together a number of acts from across the globe.

The event will be held at London's Royal Albert Hall, as sources say Simon has wanted to do the competition since 2007, when Britain's Got Talent first aired.

"This has been Simon's dream. It will be the biggest reality show the world's seen," said an insider.

The most well-known act to come out of Britain Got Talent, of course, is Susan Boyle. She's sold millions of albums worldwide. Winners from similar shows around the world have included opera singers, contortionists, circus performers and dance groups.

There were lots of strong performances among the finalists on American Idol, but the most memorable moment of the night may have come from Ryan Seacrest.

After Simon Cowell called out Michael Lynche for "corny" dance moves, Ryan not only came to the affable singer's defense, he got in Simon's grill in the process.

The normally unflappable judge was taken aback - and scooted his seat back, throwing his hands up and admitting he was very uncomfortable. Point, Seacrest!

Chalk up another memorable exchange in one of Hollywood's ongoing rivalries / friendships. We never quite know what to make of the dynamic between them.

Ryan definitely threw Simon off here, though, which was funny and uncomfortable. Check out the clip below of the two stars almost butting heads ... literally:

On The Tonight Show last night, Simon Cowell was his usual self: witty, charming and open about everything.

First, he was asked about girlfriend Mezhgan Hussainy and told Jay Leno that he'll marry her "within the next ten years. This prompted the unfunny host to actually invite Hussainy onto the stage with her man.

She squeezed in close to Simon and laughed when he said:

"I always said if I was going to get engaged, I'd get engaged to a makeup artist," adding that he gets "at least three touch-ups a night," if you know what Simon means!

About his plans for children, Simon replied: "I'm kind of torn because I'm a bit too old to have kids but then I think it would be awesome to have a lot of mes running around."

Among other topics Cowell goes into above: how much he misses Paula Abdul, whether they'll work together again and why he likes Crystal Bowersox a lot this season.

As evidenced by his response to Ryan Seacrest's question during a live broadcast of American Idol last week (Who are you winking at? My girlfriend.), Simon Cowell is in proudly in love with Mezhgan Hussainy.

Whether or not these two are engaged is still a question, but Simon's feelings for the make-up artist are not.

"You just know when you've found somebody special and I feel very, very happy," Cowell tells Piers Morgan in an interview that will air Saturday in England.

The judge, of course, will leave American Idol after this season. What else does his future hold? Possibly children.

"The thing about kids, it's like marriage, you know you have to believe you're in something that you're in for the long term, a hundred percent," Simon said, not dismissing the possibility of procreation.

The Afghanistan-born Hussainy has been seen sporting a huge diamond ring, but neither she nor Cowell will confirm if a proposal has taken place. In other Idol news:

How awesome is Crystal Bowersox?!?

Is the speculation over? Is Mezhgan Hussainy set to be Mrs. Simon Cowell?

Radar Online does not offer any direct quotes on the rumor, but the website says Hussainy herself told its vice president that she was engaged to the American Idol judge.

Earlier this week, during a simple, sweet, candid moment on the show, Ryan Seacrest asked Simon who he kept winking to in the audience and Cowell replied: "My girlfriend."

Simon C.

Says Simon's publicist, Max Clifford:

“They are very suited. She is someone who is independent and says what she thinks and feels, and he likes that. He's probably the happiest I have ever known him in the nine years I've been working with him."

Hussainy works as a make-up artist on American Idol. Assuming she really is engaged to Cowell, insiders say a wedding may take place in the very near future. We wish these two the best!

Based on comments last week, it appears as though Simon Cowell has a soft spot in his heart for this season's female contestants. He's hinted that he hopes Didi Benami, Crystal Bowersox or another woman is crowned the next American Idol.

But there's another female that's truly won over Simon's heart: Mezhgan Hussainy.

Cowell has referred to the make-up artist as "special," while his mother has now gone on record about her son's burgeoning relationship.

In a new interview, Julie Cowell relays a conversation she had with Simon soon after he asked Hussainy to move in with him.

"What baffled me most was the complete turnaround in my son. He has always insisted, ‘I’m fine as I am, mother. I’m not going to get committed to a marriage and I certainly don’t want children.’ I used to reply, ‘You don’t know, you’ve never had them.'"

Julie adds that "Mezhgan is absolutely lovely" and that she can't believe the state of bliss in which her son finds himself.

"He looks exceptionally happy and there is such a glow about him," Julie said. "I thought, my goodness me, he’s had to reach 50 to reach this stage. I think turning 50 has made him reassess his life.

"Now I really think marriage and fatherhood for Simon are going to happen. I would like to see an official engagement, a marriage and yes, then grandchildren. Mezghan is very family orientated, so she is ideal for him."
