For the past several months, Sherri Shepherd has been involved in one of the strangest celebrity custody disputes in recent memory.

It began when Shepherd and Lamar Sally split up back in May. It was particularly bad timing, as a surrogate was several months pregnant with the couple's child.

Earlier today, that surrogate gave birth to a baby boy. Shepherd was not on hand for the delivery, and reportedly wants no part in raising the child.

Immediately after their split (which may have been the result of Lamar's infidelity), Sally and Shepherd fought for custody, with each side wanting to limit the other's rights to supervised visitations.

Suddenly and unexpectedly, however, Shepherd changed her tune and stated that she wanted nothing to do with the child, as she believed it was always Sally's plan to divorce her and receive child support payments.

Sherri Shepherd got fired from The View last month, and has yet to reveal any future career plans, but at least she's a winner one sense:

Shepherd emerged victorious from her custody battle with first husband Jeff Tarpley today, as a judge ruled that she's fit to raise her 9-year-old son.

Now that that's over with, Shepherd can focus on her custody battle with Lamar Sally, her second husband.

That case is a bit more complicated, as it involves an unborn child that the former couple is expecting via a surrogate.

The battle for custody began immediately after Shepherd and Sally split in May. At first, Sally was demanding full custody and requesting that Shepherd receive only visitation rights.

Now, in a bizarre twist Sally is asking a judge to force Shepherd to have some involvement in the child's life.

The View is getting a major makeover.

ABC confirmed on Thursday that neither Sherri Shepherd nor Jenny McCarthy will return to the afternoon talk show this fall, with the former saying via statement:

"It’s been seven wonderful years on The View and after careful consideration it is time for me to move on. I am extremely grateful to Barbara Walters and Bill Gedde for giving me the opportunity.

"I look forward to the business opportunities that lay ahead for me and I am incredibly grateful to my View family and my fans for supporting me on this journey."

Shepherd's exit comes as a bit of a surprise, but talk of McCarthy leaving has been circulating for weeks now.

The View host Sherri Shepherd and Lamar Sally have thrown in the towel after nearly four years of marriage, with his alleged cheating cited in some reports.

Sherri recently told friends that her marriage with Lamar was “in trouble,” according to the New York Post, and a close family insider tells a similar story.

The UK’s Daily Mail claims his infidelity may have caused the split.

After their 2011 wedding, a report surfaced that Lamar was still close with an ex-girlfriend, and that he had even invited her to his wedding to Shepherd.

All without telling Sherri that she was a former lover of his.

Shepherd and her first husband, Jeff Tarpley, divorced in 2009 when she found out that he was having an affair and that his mistress was pregnant.

Sherri Shepherd has something in common with Juan Pablo Galavis and Phil Robertson:

All three have gotten into trouble for various anti-gay remarks.

In Shepherd's case, controversy broke out this week following an interview with Fusion host Alicia Menendez.

Asked about the biggest misconception people have about her, Shepherd said some feel she's overly "judgmental" and "homophobic" going on to explain why… and coming across to many as, well, homophobic.

"Joy's been there for a while and she's ready to go, so I'm supportive and I'll miss her," Shepherd told Us Weekly this week about The View shake-up, adding:

"But what do I want? A young Latina voice is very underrepresented, so I would love to see a young Latina sitting at the table."

Elisabeth Hasselbeck of The View had some harsh words for Chris Brown's vulgar Twitter rant against Jenny Johnson, likening his comments to "verbal rape."

"I think it's disgusting, first of all," she said. "But also, it seems like verbal rape to me."

"And I think at some point there's gotta be a point where Twitter should ban anyone who writes anything forever on there and you should identify yourself."

Co-hosts Sherri Shepherd and Whoopi Goldberg, while acknowledging that Brown's comments were extreme, emphasized that Jenny Johnson was also to blame.

Sherri Shepherd. You go, girl!

The View co-host has taken action against a total loon on Twitter, actually filing a police report over an exchange that featured some maniac threatening to rape the actress.

The Tweet took place last night, with @DaCloneKiller writing to Shepherd: "Somebody should drag u in a back alley and rape you."

Shepherd re-Tweeted and added: "THIS IS A THREAT & I'M PISSED… You think I should be raped in a back alley? Let's see if the police agree w you & I took a pic of your tweet. I am going 2 file a police report 4U threatening me... And so help me God, when I find out where U live, charges will follow."

Shepherd proceeded to stand by her word, posting again last night:

"Just returned from filing a police report for this online harassment nonsense. I will be pursuing this legally… This type of bullying is one of the reasons children are killing themselves b/c there's no consequences for the bully(s)."

In a word: AMEN, Sherri Shepherd!

Between death threats made against Selena Gomez, and anyone who dares criticize Chris Brown, it's refreshing to see a celebrity take a stand against complete idiots online.

Sherri Shepherd, who was sent home on the Dancing With the Stars results show Tuesday in the most surprising elimination of the season, did not see it coming.

"She was crying pretty hard post show and everyone was hugging her," a studio source said, adding that Shepherd skipped the usual post-elimination interview.

"It's highly unusual for [the eliminated celebrity] to skip press, especially someone who seemed to have a good attitude like Sherri had on DWTS."

Sherri did go on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night to talk about it, calling the experience an “amazing adventure” and encouraging fans to challenge themselves.

"It was a very big surprise [to be eliminated]," Shepherd, in better spirits, told Kimmel. "Carrie Ann [Inaba] said she's never seen me so expressionless."

"I'm an actress, so that's almost like telling Gladys Knight she can't sing. As an actress, Carrie Ann's going to get me blacklisted," she joked.

“If you don’t go towards the thing you fear, you won’t be able to say you lived. I got voted off, I wanted the ride to continue, but I got to say, I did it.”

“It pushes you mentally and physically and it is a life-changing experience, I have to say,” Sheppard said. “So I have to say thank you, I am so grateful."

Good attitude. Sadly, someone has to go home each week, even if they've improved and showed promise. Did it deserve to be Sherri? Tell us below ...
