Sherri Shepherd has something in common with Juan Pablo Galavis and Phil Robertson:

All three have gotten into trouble for various anti-gay remarks.

In Shepherd's case, controversy broke out this week following an interview with Fusion host Alicia Menendez.

Asked about the biggest misconception people have about her, Shepherd said some feel she's overly "judgmental" and "homophobic" going on to explain why… and coming across to many as, well, homophobic.

Joy Behar is on her way out.

And Sherri Shepherd has an idea of who she wants to be on the way in.

"Joy's been there for a while and she's ready to go, so I'm supportive and I'll miss her," Shepherd told Us Weekly this week about The View shake-up, adding:

"But what do I want? A young Latina voice is very underrepresented, so I would love to see a young Latina sitting at the table."

Elisabeth Hasselbeck of The View had some harsh words for Chris Brown's vulgar Twitter rant against Jenny Johnson, likening his comments to "verbal rape."

"I think it's disgusting, first of all," she said. "But also, it seems like verbal rape to me."

"And I think at some point there's gotta be a point where Twitter should ban anyone who writes anything forever on there and you should identify yourself."

Co-hosts Sherri Shepherd and Whoopi Goldberg, while acknowledging that Brown's comments were extreme, emphasized that Jenny Johnson was also to blame.

Sherri Shepherd. You go, girl!

The View co-host has taken action against a total loon on Twitter, actually filing a police report over an exchange that featured some maniac threatening to rape the actress.

The Tweet took place last night, with @DaCloneKiller writing to Shepherd: "Somebody should drag u in a back alley and rape you."

Shepherd re-Tweeted and added: "THIS IS A THREAT & I'M PISSED… You think I should be raped in a back alley? Let's see if the police agree w you & I took a pic of your tweet. I am going 2 file a police report 4U threatening me... And so help me God, when I find out where U live, charges will follow."

Shepherd proceeded to stand by her word, posting again last night:

"Just returned from filing a police report for this online harassment nonsense. I will be pursuing this legally… This type of bullying is one of the reasons children are killing themselves b/c there's no consequences for the bully(s)."

In a word: AMEN, Sherri Shepherd!

Between death threats made against Selena Gomez, and anyone who dares criticize Chris Brown, it's refreshing to see a celebrity take a stand against complete idiots online.

Sherri Shepherd, who was sent home on the Dancing With the Stars results show Tuesday in the most surprising elimination of the season, did not see it coming.

"She was crying pretty hard post show and everyone was hugging her," a studio source said, adding that Shepherd skipped the usual post-elimination interview.

"It's highly unusual for [the eliminated celebrity] to skip press, especially someone who seemed to have a good attitude like Sherri had on DWTS."

Sherri Shepherd on Dancing With the Stars

Sherri did go on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night to talk about it, calling the experience an “amazing adventure” and encouraging fans to challenge themselves.

"It was a very big surprise [to be eliminated]," Shepherd, in better spirits, told Kimmel. "Carrie Ann [Inaba] said she's never seen me so expressionless."

"I'm an actress, so that's almost like telling Gladys Knight she can't sing. As an actress, Carrie Ann's going to get me blacklisted," she joked.

“If you don’t go towards the thing you fear, you won’t be able to say you lived. I got voted off, I wanted the ride to continue, but I got to say, I did it.”

“It pushes you mentally and physically and it is a life-changing experience, I have to say,” Sheppard said. “So I have to say thank you, I am so grateful."

Good attitude. Sadly, someone has to go home each week, even if they've improved and showed promise. Did it deserve to be Sherri? Tell us below ...

Was the third elimination on Dancing With the Stars a surprise?

With Martina Navratilova double faulting her way out first and Jack Wagner behind her, all bets were off as to who would exit stage left Tuesday.

Was it Gladys Knight and partner Tristan MacManus sent packing? Or was it another set of bottom three regulars, Gavin DeGraw and partner Karina Smirnoff?

Turns out it was neither of those tandems.

Sherri Shepherd and Val Chmerkovskiy

In the most shocking results night this spring, Sherri Shepherd and Val Chmerkovskiy, and Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower were at the bottom.

"All of us are in total shock," judge Len Goodman said. "This is beyond ... The standard is so high, anyone can be in jeopardy, anyone can be safe."

In the end, Sherri and Val were eliminated.

"I just want to say thank you for letting me live a dream I've always had," the talk show host said. "I had the most amazing partner, Val Chmerkovskiy."

"That thing that scares you the most ... run towards it because it's so amazing on the other side ... I had the most amazing time on this show."

Roshon and Chelsie will be back next week to compete in the top nine. You tell us: Did Sherri deserve to be voted off Dancing With the Stars?

Sherri Shepherd has commented on plenty of people and topics over the years on The View, something she jokingly implied could hurt her on Dancing With the Stars.

At least in Week 1, it will do no such thing.

Partnering with Val Chmerkovskiy (brother of Maksim Chmerkovskiy) can't hurt. Nor can saying how happy she is to be there ... or squeezing her partner's ass. Nice.

Sherri and Val's foxtrot wasn't half bad, either. She has this "fun, fun, fun" (according to Len) infectious energy that's hard not to love. Watch her debut below ...

Sherri Shepherd took to The View today to address rumors that she's been rehearsing for the show since January and thus has an unfair advantage.

The Season 14 hopeful denied ever working with Val Chmerkovskiy (her pro partner on the program) and/or Maksim Chmerkovskiy at their dance studio.

“We have never, I say never, we’ve never danced together,” Sherri said of the rumor. “I’ve never danced with Maks, I’ve never danced with Val."

However, she did attend a dance class at their venue.

She did clarify that she loves dancing and had taken classes, however, “This started long before I started negotiations with Dancing With the Stars.”

Sherri said she took lessons before her wedding to Lamar Sally in August.

Radar Online had said Sherri was spotted this past December at the Soho Studio owned by the Chmerkovskiy brothers and Maks was there at the time.

Also, PureDWTS reported in December that they saw a photo of Sherri and Val go up at Dance With Me's website but it was promptly taken down.

Since Sherri is still tweeting about Monday’s DWTS season premiere it doesn’t sound like the allegation that she “cheated” is being taken seriously.

She and Val should be taken seriously as contenders though, apparently! She's been practicing, and the Dancing With the Stars cast is on notice.

Jack Wagner, Sherri Shepherd, Maria Menounos, Gavin DeGraw and Melissa Gilbert will all be among those competing on Dancing With the Stars March 19.

A pair of sports stars - Green Bay Packers wideout Donald Driver and tennis legend Martina Navratilova - will also be lacing up their dancing shoes.

Perhaps more importantly, Maksim Chmerkovskiy says he'll be back!

  • Maria Menounos at the 2012 Oscars
  • Gavin Pic
  • Sherri Shepherd at the Oscars

DeGraw is up for some serious double duty, as he will also continue his current U.S. tour for the first few weeks of the season, if he can last that long.

Gavin's pro partner, Karina Smirnoff, will most likely join him on tour so they can keep up the practicing, but none of his concerts conflict with DWTS dates.

Wagner, Heather Locklear's ex, will compete amid a minor scandal, while Menounos and Shepherd represent the entertainment show contingent.

Sherri Shepherd is on Team Breezy.

The View host has been vocal in defense of Chris Brown before, so it's no surprise that she stood up for the star in the wake of this week's Grammy lovefest backlash.

All Brown did was show up at the award show, perform and win. No controversy at all. Yet his mere presence at the event after his 2009 attack on Rihanna upset many.

While Shepherd criticized female fans who Tweet about how they'd let Chris beat them all night (among other things), Shepherd defended Brown from criticism.

He may even be a role model, she says. Why?

"There may be a child in a situation of going through abuse that Chris Brown has gone through. His mother was abused right in front of his very eyes six years before this happened to Rihanna. He used to wet his pants from the fear," Shepherd says.

"He was a victim! He became an offender. He did what the courts told him to do. He went to 52 weeks, a year of domestic prevention counseling."

That's all true, and she makes a strong case. But on the flip side, critics will point to the (perceived) utter lack of responsibility Brown has taken for his actions.

Behind-the-scenes blowups, arrogance and a lack of remorse (real or otherwise) contribute to the lack of forgiveness in people's eyes. Not heartlessness.

What do you think? Is Chris Brown a role model?
