A Special 'Scoop': Jackman Would Love to Sing with Johansson
You can't eat just one Pringle - and you can't just make one movie with Scarlett Johansson. Most of us are familiar with the former, while one famous actor is emphasizing the latter.
Hugh Jackman, who met Johansson while filiming the latest Woody Allen movie, Scoop, would love to make another film with the Reebok beauty. He'd prefer it to be a musical.
"She's just very funny, very quick and she's a pure delight. I have to say she's an amazing singer. We used to sing a lot off camera," Wolverine said.
He would know. Reportedly, the pair amused each other during down time by cranking out show tunes. Jackman has won a Tony Award for his role in The Boy From Oz.
"She's particularly amazing for a young girl, loves the old standards - Rodgers and Hammerstein, Rodgers and Hart, Ella Fitzgerald, Sinatra; that kind of era," Jackman said.
Such overwhelming musical props from such an established source should help Johannson feel better about her second place finisher as the world's best kisser. The Gossip would love to find out if that ranking is deserved, but can maybe look forward to a musical collaboration in the meantime.
"We also talked about doing a movie musical together. So hopefully that'll happen one day," added Jackman.
Reebok Hopes to Pump Up Sales with Johansson on Board
Allen Iverson, who?
As sneaker sales for Reebok have slowed down, the company is turning away from big-time athletes and toward big-time hotties. First in line? Scarlett Johansson. The actress is working on a new clothing and footwear line that should hit high-end department stores and boutiques next spring.
The Scarlett (Hearts) Rbk collection tries way too hard to be witty. It also will feature athletic-inspired pieces such as hoodies, T-shirts and track jackets with retro influences from the '70s and '80s.
"Scarlett loves that timeframe, and it's very relevant to Reebok because some of our first shoes were introduced (then)," said Amy Schaeffer, Reebok's vice president of lifestyle design.
Johansson stars in Woody Allen's Scoop, opening Friday, and will also be featured prominently in Reebok's new women's ad campaign next spring.
The move is designed to expand Reebok's fan base. Female customers are more likely listen to Scarlet's pitch that that of Celtics star Paul Pierce. No offense to Paul. Johansson just has nicer feet.
"The fashion content of the brand hasn't kept up in the last couple of years," industry analyst John Shanley said.
The beautiful actress has taken a very active role in creating the Reebok collection from the initial concept, Schaeffer said. She's had several product and design meetings with the company, including a three-hour session Monday prior to her visit yesterday to its headquarters.
"I like the idea of exercise and aerobics being glamorous: Olivia Newton-John and women exercising in false eyelashes," Johansson said. "I am basically designing clothing for my friends, and a lot of my friends are also regular girls with lovely curves and feminine figures."
We can only hope Victoria's Secret comes calling next.
Keira Knightley, Scarlett Johansson Make Beaus Jealous
Many a man -- including some staff members here at the Gossip -- would give up their right arms (or at least protein shakes) for a chance to get with Keira Knightley or Scarlett Johansson. So it's not shocking to see that the lucky guys who have successfully wooed the talented, kissable starlets could, at times, feel a tad insecure.
Sources say Knightley might be bringing out the green-eyed side, if you will, of beau Rupert Friend. Scotland's Sunday Mail claims the actress exchanged unpleasant words with her Pride & Prejudice co-star and steady boyfriend after she joined her Atonement co-star, James McAvoy, for an after-work drink.
"Keira did enjoy a night out with James, but they are just friends and everyone knows he is happily engaged [to actress Anne-Marie Duff]," a friend" of Knightley's. "She has told Rupert to get off her back or get out her life. Keira is a 21-year old girl and a bit of a free spirit."
The Pirates of the Caribbean star began dating Friend in December, a few months after she ended her two-year romance with Jamie Dornan.
Back on this side of the Atlantic, we have Johansson, who has been quietly dating Josh Hartnett for about a year. But, according to the New York Daily News, the actor was "a little anxious" last week when the blond beauty, 21, was whisked to Long Island's Hamptons by Wilmer Valderrama.
"Wilmer was out there for a party and arranged for a helicopter for Scarlett to come out, too. It was just to hang out, but Josh was not psyched about it," blabbed a source.
Understandable. Valderrama, who used to tang Lindsay Lohan as well, is a well-known womanizer. Somehow. Sigh.
In any case, Hartnett supposedly dialed his sought-after squeeze several times during her "innocent" night in the Hamptons.
"Finally, Scarlett just handed her phone to Wilmer and said, 'Talk to Josh. Tell him we're friends,'" recounts the inside source.
Pucker Up: Angelina Jolie Voted Most Kissable
This just in, folks: the sky is blue, the Pope is Catholic and Angelina Jolie possesses the world's most kissable lips.
The latter was voted upon in a poll conducted by beverage manufactuer, Cafe Kiss, as England prepared to National Kissing Day on Thursday.
Jolie nabbed the top spot over Scarlett Johansson. Also included in the top five was Keira Knightley, whose Pirates of the Carribean kiss was been documented by The Gossip late last week.
If any of the women involved in the survey would like our staff to comment on the results, we're puckered up and ready to stick our nose tongue into such business.
Scarlett Johansson Sports Brown Locks For "Nanny" Role
Entertainment Tonight has the first look at Scarlett Johansson's new summer movie -- and fetching hairstyle -- on tonight's show.
Donning a striking dark mane, the usually light-haired Scarlett stars in The Nanny Diaries. Her character, Nan, is a student who becomes a nanny for a Park Avenue couple that turns out to be the family from hell.
Hollywood quickly came calling for the movie rights after the novel written by two real-life Manhattan nannies whose fictionalized account of actual life experiences working for the rich and privileged became a best-seller.
Audiences may not recognize the 21-year old Johansson, who has come into her own in recent years. She first appeared on the Hollywood radar screen as a teenager in Robert Redford's The Horse Whisperer, and shot to fame in the award-winning Lost In Translation in 2004. Now, the native New Yorker is ready to take on the role of caretaker to a dysfunctional family and their spoiled brat of a son.
In the movie, Laura Linney plays Mrs. X, a perfectly manicured Park Avenue wife who doesn't work, cook or want to be bothered with raising a child (even her own) at any time. Her time is spent on other concerns, such as bossing the maid around to ensure their lavish apartment is perfectly maintained without actually having to lift a finger herself.
Paul Giamatti (Cinderella Man) also stars as the selfish, workaholic Mr. X, while Chris Evans (Fantastic Four) plays Scarlett's love interest. Lucky. Just in case you, the viewers, were curious what Scarlett used to look like before changing her hair color, we've included this nice, large picture. We go to great lengths for our readers.
You're welcome.
