Finally, some good news for Today. Off camera, at least:

Savannah Guthrie is engaged!!!

The co-anchor agreed to marry her boyfriend of four year, Michael Feldman, over the weekend, making the announcement this morning on NBC.

What the heck is going on at The Today Show?

A couple days after Al Roker clearly took a shot at Matt Lauer for how he handled the firing of Ann Curry (despite NBC's denial), the beloved weatherman once again took it upon himself to make a few headlines during a segment.

This time, while Lauer and Savannah Guthrie slow-danced and then talked about the 35-year anniversary of Elvis Presley dying, Roker made a silly face and simply stared into the camera... and stared... and stared... and stared.

Perhaps producers think the program can top Good Morning America in the ratings game by challenging its viewers to a staring contest once per week. Watch the shenanigans unfold now:

Somewhere, Ann Curry might be smiling right about now.

Not only has The Today Show's replacement of this co-anchor with Savannah Guthrie NOT resulted in a ratings spike, but the program lost to rival Good Morning America by over 300,000 total viewers during Guthrie's debut week behind the desk.

Moreover, according to New York Post sources, Guthrie has developed severe headaches as a result of her promotion.

“She goes to a doctor two days a week for treatment of the migraines, and is required to wear dark glasses when she’s not on set,” said this Page Six insider. “The pressure of taking over after Ann’s execution is taking its toll.”

The journalist is not expected to miss any time as a result of these injuries, and will most definitely be traveling to London with Today for the upcoming Olympics. She remains a trooper, saying the mole.

“You would never been able to know anything was wrong by watching her at work."

Savannah Guthrie to the rescue? Not after one installment of The Today Show at least.

The new anchor's debut episode was met with a resounding response by her program's chief rival this week, as Good Morning America scored its first ratings win on a Monday since 2006.

Fast affiliate numbers show GMA garnering an advantage of 6,000 households over Today in the key demographic of 24-54-year olds (1.68 million over 1.674 million), along with a 356,000 lead in total viewers (4.425 million over 4.069 million).

It's very, very early, but the dismissal of Ann Curry certainly has not paid immediate dividends for NBC.

It looks like the 100 Meters at this month's Olympics won't be the only race that network is heavily invested in this summer.

It was confirmed on Friday, but made official this morning: Savannah Guthrie is the new co-anchor on The Today Show.

"It truly is a new day around here," veteran host Matt Lauer said to kick of today's installment. "I'm pleased to be sharing this new day with Savannah Guthrie, who after several years of playing a great role on this program, takes a step forward this morning and joins us as co-anchor of Today."

Guthrie responded by saying it was an "honor" to be sitting alongside Lauer.

The new co-host, of course, replaces Ann Curry, who was fired in the messiest manner possible by NBC.

Recent rumors suggest that Lauer played a prominent role in his former colleague's ousting, as The Today Show has been seeking a scapegoat for its dwindling ratings.

Watch him introduce Guthrie in the following video and react: Are you looking forward to her Today Show reign?

It felt all but official this morning, but NBC finally and formally announced that Savannah Guthrie will be the new co-anchor of Today.

Savannah Guthrie debuted Friday but no mention was made on-air.

She had been rumored to be the network's preferred replacement for Ann Curry, who had fallen out of favor with executives and Matt Lauer.

Ann Curry's farewell speech yesterday ended her 14-year tenure at Today, but she only served as Lauer's co-anchor for the last 12 months.

Rumors of NBC firing her began surfacing late last week.

Today executive producer Jim Bell released a statement announcing Savannah's new position, lauding the journalist's unique skill set.

Guthrie "has a one-of-a-kind combination of sharp wit and approachability," Bell said, adding that Today viewers continually "value [Guthrie's] journalistic skills and legal background just as much as her humor and charm."

Bell added of Savannah, "She can effortlessly go from interviewing the Secretary of State to jumping Olympic-sized hurdles on the plaza."

If you tuned in to NBC's Today for the first time Friday and observed Savannah Guthrie alongside Matt Lauer, you'd never have known Ann Curry existed.

The morning show opened with Guthrie and Lauer behind the desk, minus the usual voiceover announcing the anchors or graphics identifying them.

Matt and Savannah simply launched right into the news.

Even at 9 a.m., when Savannah Guthrie typically handles the bulk of the show's content, there was zero mention of the shakeup, which became official with Ann Curry's farewell speech on Today not even 24 hours prior.

Instead, she, Lauer and Al Roker segued from a Maroon 5 performance to local news, weather and Guthrie running solo on the first segment of the hour.

She later was joined by Roker and Natalie Morales, who was reportedly in the running to replace Curry (which could have led to Matt Lauer's divorce).

Though Guthrie (pictured) is presumed to be Curry’s successor, especially after what we witnessed today, NBC has yet to make an official announcement.

Ann Curry will be fired from The Today Show any moment now.

So reports TMZ, which claims the anchor and the NBC morning program are simply haggling over contract details.

Curry is owed $20 million over the next two years and reportedly wants to pocket that dough and take her walking papers, while the network wants to give her half that amount and stick her as a foreign correspondent.

Either way, Savannah Guthrie has already struck a deal with Today and will take over for Curry as soon as she leaves, which prompts the obvious question: Which reporter would you rather... watch?
