The death of Moammar Gadhafi set off a string of celebrations throughout Libya, concerns among the international community ... and absurd comments on Twitter.

An instant, harmless classic: “Lunch with Gadhafi, cancelled.” - Steve Martin.

On Saturday, though, actor Orlando Jones went in a different direction:

“Libyan Rebels kill Gaddafi, if American liberals want respect they better stop listening to Aretha & kill Sarah Palin (:” wrote the star ... drawing a harsh rebuke.

  • Orlando Jones Pic
  • Sarah Palin Gets Fired Up!

Palin has not responded on Twitter to Jones’ remarks, but supporters have.

An account called Tennessee4Palin (@TN4P) wrote, “Why does @TheOrlandoJones think it’s funny to call for Sarah Palin to be murdered? #palin #liberaltolerance”

Jones' response, “No I don’t. I think it’s funny you are so upset about my inane tweet.”

Another user then tweeted at him, “You are obviously a big fat moron. How about someone talked about killing your mother or sister. Is that Funny-ha, ha?”

Jones' response to that one: “Yay! Name calling. I’m a moron that’s working on the big and fat part. Maybe you could buy me food & complete the trifecta (:”

What do you think? Did Orlando Jones go too far?

He admits he was "inane," yes, but telling people to KILL her? Really? And likening Palin to Gadhafi ... is that any different than Hank Williams' Obama-Hitler comparison?

Dancing With the Stars must not have much faith in Bristol Palin.

In her tangoin' talents, anyway. Usually, DWTS producers save the big ratings guns for the end of the season, but a very special segment on Bristol and her famous family connections looks to be airing this coming Monday night.

How do we know? Twitter Exhibit A:

Sarah Palin Tweets a photo of herself with Mark Ballas.

Hot off their successful debut (hey, The Hoff was hassled instead of her), Bristol and partner Mark Ballas are currently in Wasilla, Alaska, for a little practice ... and a little pre-taped, star-studded filming to air prior to their performance.

We have a hunch who might be appearing on that footage. Just a hunch.

Who are you rooting for on Dancing With the Stars? Bristol? Vote!

Sarah Palin has weighed in over a planned mosque near New York's Ground Zero - an idea she took to her Twitter page to encourage Muslims to refudiate.

Yes, you read that right. Refudiate.

“Ground Zero Mosque supporters: doesn’t it stab you in the heart, as it does ours throughout the heartland? Peaceful Muslims, pls refudiate,” she Tweeted.

No word if she refudiates the engagement of Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston, but last week, she coined the term regarding NAACP allegations of racist elements within the Tea Party movement, saying “[The Obamas] could refudiate" them.

After much mockery, she then Tweeted this:

“‘Refudiate,’ ‘misunderestimate,’ ‘wee-wee’d up.’ English is a living language. Shakespeare liked to coin new words too. Got to celebrate it!”

Yes. However jokingly, Sarah Palin has compared herself to Shakespeare.

Refudiate This!

Perhaps more amazing than her non-word choice was the message of the Tweet, seen by some as a cynical effort to stoke ugly anti-Muslim sentiment.

The building's planners, the American Society for Muslim Advancement and the Cordoba Initiative, say it's modeled on religious and community centers.

The 13-story, $100 million building will include an arts center, gym and a swimming pool, as well as a mosque, two blocks away from Ground Zero.

CBS and NBC nixed an ad opposing it from the National Republican Trust PAC that melded footage of the 9/11 attacks with sounds of Muslim prayer.

A recent poll showed a majority of New Yorkers oppose the plan. However, an aide in Mayor Michael Bloomberg's City Hall hit back at Sarah, Tweeting:

"@SarahPalinUSA mind your business."

"@SarahPalinUSA whose hearts? Racist hearts?"

Zing! The aide, Andrea Batista Schlesinger, deleted both tweets after posting them, with Bloomberg's staff stating she was expressing her opinion alone.

She later explained: "Deleted post bc I regretted curt response. But fact is, I believe this city belongs to everyone - and no one more than another"

"Unlike @SarahPalinUSA, I was born here grew up here. Was showing off to a visitor today. Look at how beautiful and diverse my city is. I felt pain of 9/11, the trauma."

"I got through it by believing in my city. Not through fear and hate."

Bloomberg has defended the plan, arguing that blocking it would impinge on religious freedom, and has denounced calls to look into its funding.

While Sarah Palin's resignation as Governor of Alaska continues to be debated by pundits and casual observers alike, Palin wants to "set the record straight."

Sort of. By no means is any record actually set straight here.

She is asking her supporters to remain supportive, though.

"Critics are spinning, so hang in there as they feed false info on the right decision made as I enter last yr (sic) in office to not run again," Palin Twittered.

That's good to know. Whatever it means.

Some of Palin's other Tweets over the weekend were personal, including about her husband Todd, who had gone to work the family's commercial fishing grounds.

She said: "slaying salmon and working the kids. Anxious to join 'em."

She'll have plenty of time to soon, having ditched out on her state's highest office because it no longer suited her personal ambitions. We're just saying.

Other Tweets were fiercely political. The Washington Post hinted that an ethics investigation into the Palins' conduct may be launched in the near future.

"See letter from my attorney [Thomas V. Van Flein] on baseless allegations of past 24hrs," the mother of five and soon-to-be former Governor said.

The lawyer's letter, posted by Fox News, reads:

"Several unscrupulous people have asserted false and defamatory allegations that the 'real' reasons for Governor Sarah Palin's resignation stem from an alleged criminal investigation pertaining to the construction of the Wasilla Sports Complex."

"This canard was first floated by Democrat operatives in September 2008 during the national campaign and followed up by sympathetic Democratic writers. It was easily rebutted then as one of many fabrications about Sarah Palin."

"Just as power abhors a vacuum, modern journalism apparently abhors any type of due diligence and fact checking before scurrilous allegations are repeated as fact."

As for why Palin quit? Maybe she'll Tweet about that at some point. But for now, "I head 2 West AK villages today, look forward to their busy comm fish activity!"

Communal? Committed? Commercial? OMG, can't w8 for the next Tweet 2 find out! In the meantime, follow the link for our gallery of Sarah Palin pictures!
