Ryan Seacrest and Simon Cowell might as well come out as a couple at this point. They fight like a married pair.

You get the feeling that the insults are less serious than celebrity gossip that Britney Spears will actually be joining Cowell as an American Idol judge.

During a recent press junket to promote the launch of E! News in Canada, Seacrest acknowledged that Idol's ratings, while still atop the Nielsen Ratings, had slipped last season - and jokingly blamed Simon for the significant slump.

"Well, the knee-jerk reaction would be Simon," Seacrest said. "Clearly there's an over-saturation of his character."

Seacrest's ribbing was nothing if not good-natured, of course. And the host who crowned Jordin Sparks as this year's champion dialed up his British pal on his radio show yesterday.

"Everything good goes to you," Seacrest told his English friend, endangering the chances that Simon would introduce him to hot countrywomen Lucy Pinder and Michelle Marsh. "If there's any hiccup along the way, we are obligated to blame you. You want the credit, you get the blame."

"When I'm allowed more airtime," Cowell countered, "we get 34 million viewers. When I say nothing and you're talking, we get 12 million less."

"There's a little bit of an ego getting out of control with you," Seacrest shot back. Cowell's solution to drive ratings for season seven? "Let us talk more. When I say us, I mean me."

And so it went, two buddies joking like Paul Sculfor and Victoria Beckham re-living the past.

In the end, Seacrest, who recently performed a widely praised comedic cameo in the film Knocked Up, offered the final straw. "I know you're upset they didn't ask you to be in Knocked Up," he told the judge. "It's okay that [director] Judd Apatow didn't call you. You can't be everywhere all the time. You're one old man!"

The big news on American Idol last night wasn't that Sanjaya Malakar was finally shown the door.

It was the confiding whisper that Ryan Seacrest passed along to Melinda Doolittle while cameras were rolling. Did you miss it?

Seacrest

Apparently, Ryan was afraid that Mindy Doo wasn't an avid reader of The Hollywood Gossip and missed the day when Shana Wall insisted that the American Idol host was heterosexual. So Seacrest felt the need to remind the singing sensation last night.

No offense to Doolittle, but we're a little surprised Ryan didn't make this declaration to past contestants such as Alaina Alexander or Antonella Barba. They lacked Melinda's vocal talent, but made up for it in other, nude ways.

Anyway, we're gonna consult with Neil Patrick Harris to see if his gaydar detects whether or not Seacrest is lying here. We'll get back to you.

Ryan Seacrest is straight.

Putting aside the sexual props given to everyone's favorite American Idol host by Shana Wall, however, there's only one thing people wanna hear about Seacrest:

Kelly, Aaron

Who does he think will be this year's American Idol champion?

The answer may surprise some followers of the show: Jordin Sparks.

"First of all, she's a girl," Ryan profoundly said of this 17-year old singer. "She represents fantastic qualities. She's a great singer and a pretty girl ... She's non-threatening, cute and attractive. Plus, she has this sincere likeability that is rare and genuine."

It's hard to argue with those points ... although Melinda Doolittle will sure try to over the next few weeks.

Asked what he makes of ever-controversial Sanjaya Malakar, Seacreast said: "Everywhere I go, people have been screaming at me to get rid of Sanjaya. And I say, 'Too bad, you're doing it.' ... But Sanjaya, he's an interesting character on the show. America hones in and gets rid of who needs to go and the best usually stay."

Finally, how about it, Ryan? Do you really hate Simon Cowell or what?

"We're friends," Seacrest said. "We're just extremely competitive on every level â€" to the point that he doesn't want a parking place any farther away than the one I have."

But Ryan insists it's all in good fun. You know, like basically everything Katie Rees ever does.

Oprah Winfrey
is NOT gay.

Just in case you still were unsure.

R-Crest

Now, we're finding out that the talk show goddess is not alone in her un-gayness. According to actress Shana Wall, her ex-boyfriend is straight. Once you find out who it is, though, you'll see why this is news.

"[Ryan Seacrest] is not gay, nor is he bisexual," Shana said. "We had an amazing and passionate relationship for a few years, and we are still very close."

Got that, Simon Cowell?!? Ryan Seacrest is a very, very good lover of women!

For all we know, this year's best looking American Idol contestant, Haley Scarnato, has already found that out. In other news, word of Seacrest's manly attributes has a certain D-list celebrity very mad.

That's right, Ryan: Ray J is prepared to out sex you any day of the week.

To paraphrase his signature sign-off, Ryan Seacrest is out ... of patience for a certain beautiful actress.

E!'s resident red carpet monkey and host of American Idol was candid about his reaction to being brushed off during an interview before the Golden Globe Awards over the weekend.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt at the Golden Globes

On his KIIS-FM radio show in L.A. on yesterday morning, the metrosexual was simply none too pleased with Angelina Jolie.

"I asked her four questions and she didn't even answer me," he said. "I literally stood there and tried to ask a couple of questions. At one point I just kind of let the E! microphone sit in front of her for a second to see if she was going to acknowledge it, and she clearly wanted nothing to do with me or my question or my answer or any of it."

Seacrest had nothing but nice things to say about, Brad Pitt, however. He was standing next to his baby's momma throughout the awkward interview.

"Brad was fantastic."

He continued: "I think doing good is fantastic. A lot of people are benefiting around the world from their doing of all of these nobles things. But smile."

Cohost Ellen K then came to Angie's defense saying: "Well, she has said that she finds all these award shows a waste of time and money."

"Well then don't go," Seacrest shot back. "Don't go. Don't go support your man. Don't go."

The man does make a point. Part of being famous involves putting on a fake smile and spouting cliches into a microphone.

Or making a sex tape, if you're Kim Kardashian.
