Rumors are running rampant this week that Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams are back together, or getting back together, following his split with Eva Mendes.

But, like The Notebook, is it more romantic fantasy than reality?

It makes sense that the masses want Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams back together? If they didn't, this isn't a planet we'd want to be living on.

It's also understandable how the rumors popped up. The heart throb actor is said to be on the rocks Eva Mendes, if not broken up with her completely.

Given that, and the fact that Rachel McAdams still exists? A glimmer of possibility was born. A dream was renewed. Hope, once again, sprang eternal.

The only problem with the scenario? There's little evidence to support the idea that it's actually happening, no matter how much you might will it to.

Are Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams back together, or getting back together? That's the rumor going around, and it's sure to make Notebook fans swoon!

The all-too-exciting rekindled romance buzz began not coincidentally after Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes became the subject of breakup rumors.

Their relationship trouble reportedly stems from her jealousy, and Ryan’s desire to get married and have children and Eva’s apathy towards settling down.

It's possible this is all true.

It's also possible that Ryan and Rachel were simply one of the cutest couples to ever exist, and tabloids are thus trying to simply will them back together.

Are Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes on the verge of breaking up?

After two years together, they have hit the skids, and it's all because she's jealous. Well, it's mostly because of that. According to a source close to them:

"He can be moody at times, and she's insecure ... [Eva Mendes] sees a text from a mystery number and automatically assumes he's talking to other girls."

An insider reveals that the duo broke up briefly six months ago.

They patched things up, but the relationship has remained rocky ever since, as the actress, 39, no longer gushes about the heart throb, 32, like she used to.

Ryan Gosling could've been Christian Grey if he had any interest, but turned down the steamy Fifty Shades of Grey movie role, a new report says.

While earlier reports suggested that author EL James wanted Robert Pattinson for the role, Gosling, 32, was the original choice for Universal Studios.

Gosling was heavily courted, only to reject the role may fans wanted to see him in. Ryan, Ian Somerhalder and Matt Bomer were all fan favorites.

Universal's second choice Garrett Hedlund, 29, reportedly gave it a chance, but "couldn't connect with the character" and pulled out of the running in July.

Eventually, the studio settled on Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson as his love interest Ana Steele, two casting moves that were widely panned by fans.

They may have seen him shirtless, but women now want to see a lot more.

In a new survey conducted by Vivid Entertainment and XCritic (dot) com, Ryan Gosling was named the actor most respondents want to see in a sex tape.

Which makes sense, considering Gosling was also named the most f-ckable male star in a separate online poll a few months ago.

But Ryan Gosling is in this film. And as such, he's featured prominently in the new Only God Forgives poster.

Derek Cianfrance has made another brilliantly pensive film about the failings of the human drive for progress in The Place Beyond the Pines.

Movies that treat small personal conflicts in sweepingly dramatic and devastating ways are often hard to watch, inching dangerously close to mushy melodrama. But the Blue Valentine director has an amazing ability to treat an intimate narrative like an epic poem.

Ryan Gosling Eva Mendes The Place Beyond the Pines

The Place Beyond the Pines is actually three films. Three very good films. While they are woven together in a way that is initially jarring, Cianfrance’s structural decisions prove carefully thought-out and, indeed, riveting.
