Russell Brand is fairly zen about his divorce from Katy Perry.

In an interview with the Lorraine show on the UK's ITV1 while doing publicity rounds for Rock of Ages, the British funnyman offered up a rather sanguine view.

"Well, it did work out in a way because you are married for some time, and that's really good, and then you're not married, and that's really good," he said.

Right??!? Profound yet simple. Best spin on a divorce ever!

A Russell Brand and Katy Perry Pic

The 37-year-old Brand and the 27-year-old Perry swapped vows in October 2010 in a lavish ceremony in India only to see their marriage unravel in 14 months.

While divorce is never easy, he's come to terms with it.

"You just have to have acceptance of things. She is a person I love, but now this is a new time. I suppose divorce is difficult, isn't it, because of the admin! There's a lot of admin!"

Seriously. On a different level of love, Brand gushed over ... Alec Baldwin.

"He's like sort of a big powerful, hairy, sexy uncle," he said of his Rock of Ages co-star. "Which in the wrong circumstances could be a terrible thing."

"But in the circumstances that I found myself in, it was really lovely. He's really friendly, and he's really clever, and really sweet and gave me wonderful advice."

Random, hilarious bromance alert?

At the 2012 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday evening, host Russell Brand kicked off the event with a zany monologue in which he mocked Justin Bieber, Charlie Sheen, Kim Kardashian, Michael Fassbender's penis, Katy Perry and himself.

After giving Bieber props for his alleged scuffle with a photographer, Brand said, "Justin Bieber is so pretty that even if he was attacking me, I'd do a little orgasm."

It only got zanier from there.

"The last time I hosted I did marry someone who was there, so I'm keeping my eyes open for a new wife tonight," Brand said, before shouting, "Fassbender!"

That would be Michael Fassbender, who was there to represent Prometheus.

Brand also goofed on Charlie Sheen, who was there for reasons unknown, saying he'd stashed alcohol and some cocaine under the actor's seat. You know, just in case.

Perhaps most amusingly, Brand thanked Kim Kardashian and Kanye West for taking the pressure off of him - in terms of short-lived marriages and humiliating MTV award moments, respectively - and said he hopes they make a sex tape together.

Hopefully Kanye learns from his predecessor and stays sober during it, though, because Ray J "just looked a little too pleased with himself" while nailing KK.

Brand would also shot out "Twilight!" and "Hunger Games!" intermittently and for no apparent reason. What do you think of Russell's monologue? Grade it below:

Justin Bieber's alleged attack on a member of the paparazzi - who accuses him of roughing him up and leaving him in need of medical attention - is clearly BS.

Can you see Justin Bieber roughing someone up? Seriously?

That's beside the point, though. Whatever happened, Biebs' altercation is just the latest in a long string of tense run-ins between stars and the media who cover the celebrity gossip we crave. Here's a look back at seven of the most memorable:

1. Britney Spears: After a downward spiral that saw her shave her head, file for divorce and deliver her second child in the span of a year, Spears suffered a meltdown in February 2007 that saw her violently attack a paparazzo's car with an umbrella:

2. Russell Brand: Katy Perry's ex recently gave a whole new meaning to the term "dropped call" as he grabbed a photographer's iPhone and flung it through a nearby window. Brand later turned himself in after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

3. Kanye West: The rapper racked up three misdemeanor charges in 2008 after he was arrested for allegedly wrestling with a photographer at LAX, grabbing his camera and smashing it on the floor. The charges were eventually dropped.

Russell Brand is not really trying to win back Katy Perry, but that doesn't stop celeb gossip tabloids from having a field day with the former couple.

By all accounts, they were in love, but got married too quickly and were just too different to make it work, but harbor no ill will toward each other.

That's just not sufficient for OK! Magazine though.

OK! Cover

According to this breaking, almost certainly bogus tabloid report:

  • Russell has been bombarding her with phone calls and texts
  • He's flat out begging her to take him back after they split
  • She's lonely while her new man is on tour in Australia

Never mind that Katy broke up with Robert Ackroyd already, or that Russell admitted on Ellen that it wasn't mean to be (even if he loves her as a person).

Amazingly, this may not be the most ridiculous thing in the issue! OK! also claims that Kanye is proposing to Kim. No way those two are even really dating!

Russell Brand and Katy Perry might as well be teaching Celebrity Breakups 101.

Proving that a split doesn't have to be bitter or contentious just because it's painful, the comedian opened up to Ellen DeGeneres about his recent divorce and had only positive things to say about former wife Katy Perry.

"I still love her as a human being," he said. "But, sometimes when you're in a relationship I suppose it doesn't work out, does it? You can't absolutely make everything the way you want it to be in life. But that doesn't mean I regret it or anything."

"Sometimes things are just different and then you move with that and try and remain in contact with what is beautiful about yourself and each other."

"I was very happy to be married with her," Brand continued. "She's such a beautiful human being and I just have only love and positivity for her."

Perry has since rebounded with Florence + The Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd, with whom she was spotted packing on the PDA at Coachella.

Still, it's time to move on. Last week, Brand finally unfollowed her on Twitter.

Also on Ellen, Brand weighed in on various newsworthy items of the day, including the Time Magazine breastfeeding cover. You gotta watch.

The man, the myth, the legendarily zany Russell Brand will host the MTV Movie Awards on June 3, the cable network officially confirmed this week.

The comedian, who has hosted the MTV VMAs twice, will front the ceremony for the first time at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif.

Brand said, "This MTV Movie Awards will be more impressive than The Avengers and you won't have to wait an hour for someone to Hulk out."

Russell Brand Testifies

MTV President Stephen Friedman also said of the 36-year old's involvement:

"With his amazing ability to span the full spectrum of comedy from the most high to low-brow, Russell's smart, unpredictable wit uniquely connects to our audience."

"His rock-n-roll sensibility and fearlessness give us the perfect partner with whom to take a leap of faith with as we meld the worlds of movies and music on one very special night."

Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth and Mila Kunis will all present at the bash. Check out our list of 2012 MTV Movie Award nominations to see who's up for the golden popcorns.

Also, you gotta see Russell destroy a heckler at his recent stand-up gig.

Russell Brand absolutely shut it down during his stand-up show in Atlantic City, N.J., just annihilating a heckler who had been taunting him about Katy Perry.

The heckler had been yelling Perry-related comments at the Borgata on Saturday, most of which went ignored by Russell, who split with Katy last winter.

But it was his yelling "God save the queen!" during a bit about the British royal family that sent the zany comic into full-scale verbal attack mode:

"What, mate?" Russell tentatively began. "I want to see what this person looks like, turn the lights on for me because I really want to achieve some sort of confirmation. Let's have a look... Come here, let's see you."

The audience was all too happy to direct Brand.

"Let's see how your mental illness looks in the daylight," Russell said, ushering the man forward. "It's you, is it? Oh, dear. I was hoping that your personality was just a result of physical beauty. But then I saw you."

Russell Brand is doing well, thank you.

Returning to his roots - bachelorhood, plus standup comedy - is the ideal way to move on from his marriage to Katy Perry, which ended this winter after 14 months.

To hear Russell tell it, he has no reason not to be well.

Waxing philosophical about life, he says, "You don't need to brush it off if you don’t get it on you in the first place," he says, not specifically defining what "it" is.

In Good Spirits

The 36-year-old sounds downright zen in adding, "I don't have to let anything go. I don't hold on to anything negative. It's the same as zero-ness."

Asked if that's part of his yoga philosophy, Brand notes. "It's not about letting it go," he says. "You can't let go of something you don't hold, you know. It's meaningless, [and] much of our world is predicated on meaninglessness. And I just don't do that anymore."

As for his upcoming late-night show, which is due later this year on FX?

Russell Brand is in hot water over his recent iPhone flinging.

New Orleans police issued a misdemeanor arrest warrant for Brand in connection with the zany British funnyman's run-in with a photographer earlier this week.

Russell turned himself in Thursday and is in police custody.

Brand has been accused of grabbing a photographer's phone on Monday and throwing it through the nearby window of a law firm in downtown New Orleans.

Russell Brand = Jesus?

Brand, in town filming a movie, hasn't denied that he grabbed and hurled the phone. In fact, he Tweeted "Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iPhone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory."

Brand has reportedly offered to pay for the broken window at the law firm, but the "victim," celebrity gossip photographer Timothy Jackson, filed a police report.

Jackson had been posted up along with several others to take pics of the 36-year-old, who is in NoLa shooting Oscar-winning swriter Diablo Cody's new film.

Last month, Chris Brown was accused of "robbery by sudden snatching" after Christal Spann claimed he reached out his car window, grabbed her phone and peaced.

Though a report was filed in that incident, no warrant was issued.

Russell Brand has Tweeted a hilarious confession to recent allegations that he ganked some paparazzi dude's iPhone and hucked it through a window.

The zany British comedian is accused of ripping an iPhone right out of the hands of a paparazzo in New Orleans and firing it toward a local law firm.

Police are investigating, but Russell Tweeted the following mea culpa:

Russell Brand Tweet

Wonder if that would hold up in court. Genius, in any case ... but THG does not condone window assaults via iPhone every time you see one misused.

Unlike Chris Brown, who's also being investigated for stealing an iPhone, Brand has since offered to pay for the device, as well as the window he broke.
