Robin Thicke and Paula Patton's marriage began to unravel when - you guessed it - the entire world saw Miley Cyrus Twerking all over him at the VMAs.

Patton, who also famously praised his "Blurred Lines" video with a nude Emily Ratajkowski, put on a good front, insisting the Twerk-fest didn't bother her.

But it did. Sources say Patton felt "utterly disrespected" when Thicke virtually simulated sex with Miley Cyrus, and also by how he handled the fallout.

Paula got into a blow-out fight with Robin, telling him he insulted her before a national TV audience with that stunt, even though he didn't see it coming.

That's right, both Paula and Robin say Miley Cyrus Twerking on him was unplanned, an improvisation on her part. However, he ran with it, angering Patton.

It only went downhill after the buzzed-about show when Paula saw pics of Robin grabbing Lana Scolaro's butt, which she also downplayed at the time.

They argued constantly; Paula was furious that Robin kept partying with various women, very cozily at times and seemingly unconcerned with her feelings.

It reached the point of no return last week.

Robin Thicke's marriage is kaput, he announced earlier this week, but he's reportedly trying to change that behind the scenes, going all in to woo back Paula Patton.

According to reports, Paula told him she wanted a divorce Friday.

Hearing this, Robin jumped on a plane and flew home to Canada and tried in vain to convince his wife to change her mind. He obviously came up short.

Robin Thicke and Paula Patton issued a joint statement of separation earlier this week, calling it amicable and promising to remain the best of friends.

Thing is, though, Robin desperately wants to save his marriage.

The "Blurred Lines" singer is resuming his tour on Thursday in Washington D.C., having canceled three straight shows as a result of the divorce drama.

The girl whose butt Robin Thicke infamously grabbed after the VMAs says she's up for a date if the singer's interested, now that he and Paula Patton split.

It's unclear if the "Blurred Lines" crooner's groping of Lana Scolaro is at all to blame, but Robin Thicke and Paula Patton announced their separation Monday.

The 20-year-old blonde is game for another shot, in any case.

Lana Scolaro, who says she made out with Thicke last fall, says she regrets that, but not too much, saying "I'd love to grab a drink with him if he asked."

When the pic first went public, she claimed he tried to give it to her with Paula in the next room, insisting his wife of eight years was totally cool with it.

We're guessing that was not as true as Robin assumed then.

In surprising news Monday afternoon, Robin Thicke and Paula Patton have announced they are ending their marriage, which has spanned almost a decade.

"We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time," the singer and the actress told People.

The pair, who first met when Paula Patton was 16 and Thicke was 14, have been married since 2005 and welcomed son Julian Fuego in April 2010.

Thicke, 36, long had been very expressive about his marriage to Patton, 38, saying last fall, "We're pretty sure we've loved each other for a few lives."

Last year, both rose to new levels of fame, thanks to several big movie roles for Paula and Robin's hit song "Blurred Lines" and Miley Cyrus Twerking.

The duo's split either comes as a huge surprise or not at all, depending on whether you believe Thicke's sleazy schtick is just a schtick ... or actually real.

Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" was one of the biggest songs of 2013, if not the biggest, so it's fitting that he helped close out the year with it Tuesday night.

Thicke performed the infectious track in Los Angeles and beamed it over to the Ryan Seacrest-hosted, New York-based New Year’s Rockin' Eve celebration.

There was no nude Emily Ratajkowski or Twerking Miley Cyrus to assist this time, but the catchy melody and sexy vibe were as palpable as ever.

From coast to coast, from night to day ... he knows you want it.

The Canadian crooner sort of literally blurred the lines between himself and the crowd by performing amidst revelers at one point during the live effort.

It was a fitting way to bid farewell to the year that was.

Along with Katy Perry's "Roar," Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Thrift Shop," the year definitely belonged to "Blurred Lines."

The only question is what he'll do for an encore.

There are still 28 days left in December, but that doesn't mean we can't go ahead and begin looking at the year in review, starting with this video of the 20 most overplayed songs of 2013 performed in a one minute mashup.

From "Get Lucky" to "Royals" to "Roar," Chad Neidt covers this year's top songs in this guitar medley. Also included are "What Does The Fox Say," Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball," and Robin Thicke's summer anthem "Blurred Lines."

Robin Thicke is being sued by the estate of Marvin Gaye for stealing from not one but two of the late music icon's songs, according to court papers.

The family initially claimed that Thicke's hit "Blurred Lines" plagiarized Gaye's 1977 track "Got to Give It Up." Now they say he uses two Gaye songs.

Thicke, Pharrell Williams and Clifford Harris, Jr. (T.I.), who wrote "Blurred Lines," preemptively sued Gaye's estate after their complaints in August.

The trio claimed that "Blurred Lines" was "starkly different" from "Got to Give It Up," that Gaye does not own a genre, and that the claims were damaging.

Now Gaye's family have filed a countersuit against Thicke alleging he ripped off "Got to Give It Up" and "After the Dance" for his 2011 album Love After War.

Paula Patton says husband Robin Thicke lives up to his name ... if you know what we mean! We mean he is well-endowed. In the manhood department.

In his music video for "Blurred Lines," Thicke, 36, spells out with balloons that he "has a big d--k" and his spouse is now on record confirming that claim.

"I think that the statement is fairly accurate!" Patton jokes to Glamour.

"Robin's like 'Listen, if I'm, you know, in the Miami Heat's locker room, I don't know where I stand, but …'" Patton jokes. "It's cool, it's funny, it's awesome!"

Paula has fully supported her husband's racy music video, which features nude models, and his VMA performance, which featured Miley Cyrus Twerking.

Robin Thicke is speaking out on the Miley Cyrus Twerking controversy, saying he was merely the one who was Twerked upon at the MTV VMAs in August.

"That's all on her," Thicke, 36, says of Cyrus, 20, and their racy "Blurred Lines" performance, on Oprah's Next Chapter in an interview set to air Sunday.

"People ask me all the time, 'Do you twerk?' I'm like, 'Listen, I'm the twerkee."

"I'm twerked upon. I don't twerk myself, okay? I'm just twerked upon.'"

Calling all the hype "funny" and "silly," Thicke explains, "I was on stage. I didn't see it. So to me, I'm walking out towards Miley [and] I'm not thinking sex."

Paula Patton's acting career is really taking off lately, and with that comes the media rounds, and with that comes talking about Miley Cyrus Twerking.

It was Paula's husband, Robin Thicke, who was on the receiving end of Miley's genital-grinding display at the MTV Video Music Awards, after all.

The Baggage Claim star stopped by Bravo's Watch What Happens Live, last night and, in typical fashion, downplayed the racy "Blurred Lines" duet.

"Honestly, they rehearsed for three days beforehand, and I don't know how not to dance with someone having their booty in your ... all my friends do it like that."

"And, I don't really know what the big deal is."
