Robert Pattinson has officially crushed our hopes and dreams.

In Cannes to promote Maps to the Stars, the actor talked to Variety about his film career and shot down any talk of another Twilight Saga movie.

"I couldn't do another Twilight movie," the 28-year old told the publication. "I'm too old."

Too old?!? Robert, you play a vampire! They are supposed to be old! Sheesh.

Pattinson went on to say "no one thought [Twilight] would be a big deal," which of course meant everyone was gravely mistaken.

Perhaps this will comfort Robert Pattinson.

The actor, who is allegedly furious that he was passed over for Christian Grey in favor of Charlie Hunnam, has signed on for Life.

The film will be directed by Anton Corbijn and tell the tale of a real-life friendship between James Dean (to be played by Dane DeHaan) and Pattinson's Dennis Stock.

Stock was a young photographer who worked for Life Magazine and got close to the famous big screen star back in the day when assigned to shoot him for a 1955 spread.

Look for the movie to chronicle his journey with Dean as the acquaintances travel across the country together. Life is scheduled to begin shooting in early 2014, but no release date has been announced yet.

Pattinson, meanwhile, is busy these days making out with Mia Wasikowska wrapping up filming on Maps to the Stars.

Robert Pattinson may be back together with Kristen Stewart, but he's about to have a new leading lady in his professional life.

The actor has lined up his next film role, Deadline reports, signing on to costar with Carey Mulligan in Hold On To Me.

The Robert Pattinson Smile

The James Marsh-directed movie will be based on a true story and follow Mulligan's character, described as a "femme fatale," who - along with her boyfriend - kidnaps the richest person in town.

Pattinson will portray another man in this young woman's life.

Following Breaking Dawn Part 2, which hits theaters in November, Robert will appear in the sci-fi Western The Rover with Guy Pearce and a military action drama based on the hunt for Saddam Hussein titled Mission Blacklist.

The Expendables 2 blasted its way to the top of the box office this weekend, but Robert Pattinson also had a few thousand reasons to smile.

While the Sylvester Stallone-penned action flick earned nearly $30 million and easily out-garnered The Bourne Legacy for the number-one ranking, Pattinson's Cosmopolis - his first movie since news of the Kristen Stewart affair broke - grossed $72,000 at just three theaters.

That gave Cosmopolis the weekend's biggest per-screen average. So take that, D.B. Sweeney!

Sparkle - which featured Whitney Houston in her final big screen performance - landed in fifth place. But it sported the Top 10's best per-theater average after The Expendables 2.

This has suddenly become more awkward than exciting.

The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly features Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in an embrace. No, they haven't made up. They are simply in character as Edward and Bella in Breaking Dawn Part 2.

Edward and Bella Scene

Pattinson tells the magazine that this installment of The Twilight Saga is "stranger than all the other films put together," a comment that takes on new meaning in light of Stewart's cheating scandal.

Summit Entertainment, however, has said that promotion of the blockbuster will continue as planned, while director Bill Condon simply urges fans to show the ex-couple some respect.

The movie's two leads may not be on speaking terms, but that won't stop the Breaking Dawn Part 2 promotional train for taking off as scheduled.

Amid questions over how the Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart saga will affect marking - she cheated on him with Rupert Sanders; he's gone into hiding and is considered a total mess - a spokesperson for Summit Entertainment has taken the unusual step of issuing a press release.

  • Robert Pattinson as Edward
  • Kristen Stewart as Bella

Says Nancy Kirkpatrick to Entertainment Weekly:

“While it is studio policy not to comment on the personal lives of actors, Summit is moving full steam ahead and looking forward to this November’s opening of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2.  We are confident that the film delivers amazing entertainment for our passionate fans and general audience alike.”

Earlier this week, actress Christian Serratos said she can't imagine the Robsten drama affects the film's box office haul, but we're not so sure.

Will you go see Breaking Dawn Part 2 despite this scandal?

With the smell of sex still be all over him - seriously, watch this Cosmopolis trailer - Robert Pattinson has signed on for a new film.

According to Deadline, the Twilight Saga hunk will anchor Mission: Blacklist, a drama based on a book by military interrogator Eric Maddox. It outlines the true story of the search for Saddam Hussein. Rather heavy stuff for the star.

Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire will direct.

“This movie is a gripping, edge of your seat thriller,” says Ross M. Dinerstein, Managing Partner of Preferred Content, the main production company behind the movie. “I have been inspired by Robert and Jean-Stéphane’s dedication to tell this story in the most authentic way possible."

This will be a busy year for Pattinson. Aside from Cosmopolis, he'll also appear in Bel Ami and conclude in November with a little flick called Breaking Dawn Part 2.
