Rip Torn likes to drive drunk too much. Yes, folks, even once is too many times. Just don't do it.

Troubled actor Rip Torn, whose recent drunken bank burglary resulted in a hilarious arrest and got his character killed off 30 Rock, pleaded not guilty today.

The 78-year-old entered a not guilty plea to gun and burglary charges after an incident in which cops say he was so drunk, he broke into a bank ... strapped.

His reasoning for the January break-in? He thought it was his own house.

Ruggedly handsome, drunkenly maniacal: The faces of Rip Torn.

Torn appeared in Litchfield County Court in Connecticut today, facing first-degree burglary, carrying a pistol without a permit, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, second-degree criminal trespass, and third-degree criminal mischief charges.

He pleaded not guilty to all of them and is due back in court on April 27.

Torn's attorney told he court that Rip is making progress in his alcohol rehabilitation program and has moved from an inpatient to an outpatient program.

Suburban Connecticut banks should hire extra security just in case.

Beleaguered actor Rip Torn is headed to rehab.

The 78-year-old Emmy winner was arrested Friday night in Salisbury, Conn., for allegedly breaking into a bank with a loaded gun while under the influence.

Police say busted Torn, who has faced multiple DUIs in the past. He posted $100,000 bond on Monday and headed straight to a Manhattan clinic to dry out.

He faces charges of trespassing, possession of a firearm without a permit, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, criminal mischief and burglary for the stunt.

Rip Torn needs to cool it with the boozing.

He did not enter a plea. Torn is due back in court February 17. His lawyer says it was all a misunderstanding. A heat-packing, belligerent misunderstanding.

"Obviously, he wasn't intending to commit a crime," Torn's attorney told the Hartford Courant, saying  Torn was so drunk, he thought he was in his home.

We've been there, actually. Well, sans loaded firearm. In any case, here's hoping Torn gets help, as he's been taking over our celebrity mug shots gallery.

Veteran actor Rip Torn was taken to court this morning in handcuffs to face charges stemming from his unbelievable arrest in Connecticut over the weekend.

Torn allegedly broke into a bank while carrying a loaded gun. No one was hurt and the only damage was the window Torn broke to get in, but still ... wow.

The belligerent 78-year-old was charged with a list of offenses only DMX could top: Carrying a pistol without a permit, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal trespass and third-degree criminal mischief.

Rip's arraignment went without incident and he seemed in good spirits afterward ... albeit completely nonsensical. Dude was babbling in some other dialect.

LET 'ER RIP: The recurring 30 Rock guest star is a troubled guy.

En route to his car after posting $100,000 bail and securing his release from the slammer, Torn shouted "Pardon" and "Con permiso" at a gathering of reporters.

Par for the course, really.

He'll be back in court February 17, where he'll likely plead not guilty, according to his lawyer. Rip is also expected to enter an alcohol treatment facility this week.

Probably a good idea, as this wasn't his first drunken run-in with the law. He certainly keeps things interesting, but loaded firearms are no laughing matter.

Right, Gilbert Arenas?

Actor Rip Torn was arrested on Friday night for allegedly breaking into a Connecticut bank intoxicated ... and armed with a loaded revolver, obviously.

Torn allegedly forced his way inside the Litchfield Bancorp building, setting off an alarm, state police from the Troop B barracks in North Canaan said.

When the police responded to the alarm around 9:40 p.m. they found Torn "with a loaded revolver and was highly intoxicated," according to officials.

The actor, 78, was taken into custody without incident, and is being held there on a $100,000 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

This Rip Torn mug shot is actually from his previous drunk driving arrest in N.Y. State. Still, it's an all-time classic. Look at this guy! Dude, take it easy. Yeesh.

Authorities say Rip will be charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal trespass and third-degree criminal mischief. Who does this guy think he is, DMX?

He had two previous drunken driven charges against him in New York.

He was acquitted in a 2004 case and, in a second drunk driving case (see above), he pleaded guilty in 2007 to a lesser charge of being ability impaired.

Torn, a resident of Salisbury, Conn., is an award-winning actor in film and theater with more than 50 years of work under his belt. Recently, he has appeared in Dodgeball, August, Happy Tears, The Golden Boys and even TV's 30 Rock.

Another year, another drunk driving arrest for Rip Torn. TMZ has learned the actor was arrested in North Salem, New York and charged with DWI.

Similarly to an incident in January, 2004 - when Torn was arrested in New York City after crashing his car into a taxi, charged with the same crime and launched into a vulgar rant that would make Michael Richards proud - Rip refused to cooperate with the cops and would not submit to a blood-alcohol test this time around.

Torn, who has starred in numerous movies including Men in Black (with Will Smith) and Dodgeball (with Vince Vaughn), was arrested after his car was involved in an accident and police were called.

His mug shot is included here. It may lack the smug smile of Mel Gibson - but safe to say Nick Nolte was proud when he saw this puppy.
