Rihanna is listless, suffering from headaches and torn"over her parents' pleas to cooperate with police after she was allegedly brutally assaulted by Chris Brown.

"She hums sometimes, but she's more quiet than I've ever seen her," an unnamed pal of the "Umbrella" singer reportedly told a celebrity gossip source.

The friend said Rihanna, 20, visited a doctor last Friday, five days after Brown allegedly roughed her up following a fight in the couple's rented Lamborghini.

"It was because of the endless headaches she's been having since Chris hit her," the friend said. "The doctors were concerned about the contusions on her head."

Reports say that Rihanna - who was said to be furious and unmoved by Brown's apology statement last weekend - is still torn over helping police build a case.

Brown, 19, was arrested the night of the Grammy Awards on suspicion of making criminal threats - he is accused of beating and threatening to kill Rihanna.

Chris Brown is free on $50,000 bail and has not been seen since.

"I mean, damn, her eye's black and the sides of her face are all f----d up," the friend told said. "But she keeps saying she still loves him."

Rihanna's parents are reportedly pleading with her not to worry about how jail time may affect Brown's career, and the Barbados-bred beauty is believed to be cooperating with police, at least for now and to a certain extent.

For the record, Rihanna's camp has declined to officially comment on Chris Brown's first public comments since his felony arrest two Sundays ago.

Sources close to her, however, have described the battered singer as being "appalled" by her boyfriend's statement, issued through a spokesman.

"All of us, including Rihanna, do not understand how he can say he's sorry on the one hand, but still... does not admit any guilt," a Barbados pal of Rihanna tells the Chicago Sun-Times. "He should have expressed more contrition."

After a week of negative press for Chris Brown subsequent to the alleged assault that took place involving Rihanna, Brown released a statement saying he was "sorry and saddened... over what transpired," but did not go into detail.

It has been theorized that a booty call text message triggered an argument between the couple that spiraled out of control and led to a violent altercation. Rihanna also told police that this was not the first time Brown attacked her.

A source close to Rihanna apparently told the newspaper that she is "royally pissed off" at what she calls Brown's "cavalier and arrogant statement."

Both singers have kept a low profile after the incident, which allegedly left Rihanna with horrific injuries. Chris Brown is due in court March 5.

Earlier today, we told you how Rihanna's father spoke out for the first time since his daughter's alleged beating at the hands of her boyfriend, singer Chris Brown.

Now, the following statement has been issued by a spokesman on behalf of Brown - his first since his arrest on battery and criminal threats charges last Sunday:

"Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired. I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God's help, to emerging a better person."

"Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or the media is wrong."

"While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts on Facebook, blogs or any place else," the statement continued.

"Those posts or writings under my name are frauds."

Chris Brown, 19, allegedly attacked girlfriend Rihanna, 20, in Los Angeles on February 8, before both were scheduled to perform at the Grammy Awards.

He posted $50,000 bail and has kept an extremely low profile since the incident.

The L.A. district attorney's office is still investigating what happened and weighing what charges, if any, Brown will face in conjunction with the attack.

In the first interview with a family member since her alleged battering at the hands of Chris Brown, Rihanna's father, Ronald Fenty, said that when he first heard that his daughter had been assaulted last week, "I didn't believe it.

"I know my daughter," said Fenty, 55. As for her boyfriend and alleged attacker, he said, "You think you know somebody, but you really don't."

Brown, 19, allegedly battered Rihanna, 20, in Los Angeles last Sunday before the Grammys. He was arrested and may face charges from the L.A. district attorney.

Describing Rihanna's current condition after seeing her in Barbados on Thursday, Fenty said, "There is some bruising. She will be all right. I think so."

He added of his daughter, whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, "At some point, she will speak out. I hope she will stand up for women all over the world."

Ronald Fenty, a salesman and freelance clothing designer, said that Rihanna is spending time with family and girlfriends in Barbados while she heals.

While Fenty said he wouldn't tell his daughter what to do regarding the future of the couple's relationship, he did say, "If it were me, I'd move on."

The last time Fenty had seen Rihanna and Chris Brown together was in July. "They seemed pretty happy," he recalls. "I don't know what went wrong."

As for Brown's alleged pattern of abuse - Rihanna apparently told the police it was not the first time this happened - Fenty said, "I was really shocked because he’s such a talented person. He’s a little immature, yeah."

"I hope he learned his lesson," Fenty added, still reeling from what happened to his daughter. "And that this will never happen to another women."

According to reports, police are still investigating Brown, who is free after posting $50,000. He was arrested for making felony criminal threats - after allegedly threatening to kill Rihanna - but sources say proving that charge may be iffy.

A lesser, but still serious charge of battery is more likely.

Disgraced R&B singer Chris Brown has made his first statement following the alleged beating he doled out to superstar girlfriend Rihanna - he posted an update on his private Facebook page, according to the N.Y. Post, which reads as follows:

"You'll begin to see her true colors. Believe it!"

Brown's comment appears to suggest Rihanna is partly to blame for the alleged attack - which she says was not the first in their relationship and ended in his arrest Sunday on charges of battery and making criminal threats.

As if it weren't obvious after inflicting horrific injuries upon her (or so the police report says), the troubled Brown appears to have confirmed his split from the Barbados-bred beauty by changing his relationship status to "single."

As for what triggered the attack, rumors are swirling that Brown had been cheating on Rihanna and that a "booty call text message" sparked a heated argument as the couple drove back to their L.A. hotel prior to the Grammy Awards.

The text message reportedly angered Rihanna, who lashed out about it, only to have Brown attack her. She then faked a call to the cops and threw the keys to his rented Lamborghini out the window, further enraging him and leading to more violence.

The melee ended with Chris Brown fleeing the scene on foot, leaving Rihanna beaten and unconscious and in need of hospital treatment.

Brown, who posted $50,000 bail and had been holed up at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas before leaving yesterday for an undisclosed location, awaits word on whether the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office will be pressing charges.

So far, L.A. police have booked him on suspicion of making criminal threats, although that may not stick. A felony battery charge is a lock, however. Meanwhile, there is no word on Rihanna's whereabouts since the incident.

Despite the gruesome allegations against him, Chris Brown may have gotten lucky because the charge he was booked on is somewhat weak, police sources say.

But the R&B singer is still in deep $h!t if a new report is to believed - one in which Rihanna says this is not the first time Brown has attacked her.

Sources say that the Los Angeles County District Attorney kicked the case back to the police for further investigation because evidence that Chris Brown was making felony criminal threats against Rihanna is kind of thin.

Those sources are quick to say he will, however, almost certainly be charged with felony domestic battery, a lesser offense but still very serious, considering the horrific injuries he allegedly inflicted upon his girlfriend.

Here's how it went down, according to the police report:

After Chris Brown received a text message from a woman, who police have not identified to the media, who wrote about getting together with him, an argument erupted (initially, Rihanna would not tell cops what started the argument).

Rihanna did, however, tell them that during the argument, he started hitting her.

According to police, she ordered him to drive her home and "faked a call" to someone, saying things like, "He's dropping me off. Make sure the cops are there."

The Los Angeles district attorney has reportedly asked police detectives to dig up more evidence as they build their case against singer Chris Brown.

The police are getting cooperation from Rihanna, Brown's alleged battery victim, and what she has told them so far is even more chilling than presumed.

E! News reports that Rihanna has alleged to police that Chris Brown not only inflicted horrific injuries on her, but choked her while threatening to kill her.

She says she lost consciousness in the midst of this.

The couple is said to have been squabbling after leaving Clive Davis' pre-Grammy Awards party late Saturday. Shortly after midnight, things blew up.

Cops say a message from a woman who wrote about hooking up with Brown may have played a role in triggering the argument. However, there's also a reference in the police report to an argument over a rapper, but this is NOT the woman who texted Brown.

In any case, Chris Brown pulled his rented Lamborghini to the side of a street in L.A.'s Hancock Park area. That was when Rihanna allegedly grabbed the car keys and tossed them out the window, sending Brown into a blinding rage.

Rihanna's account of her assault by Chris Brown is disturbing to say the least.

He tried in vain to find the keys, then came back to the car, put his hands around her neck and, according to the insider, said, "I'm going to kill you!"

According to the source, the 20-year-old "Disturbia" singer told L.A. police investigators that she lost consciousness, and when she awoke, Brown had fled.

Rihanna's right eye was blackened and badly swollen, and she had hand prints on her arms after she regained consciousness.

The responding officers were so concerned about her, they drove Rihanna to the hospital in their squad car instead of waiting for an ambulance.

Rapper T.I. says he spoke to pal Chris Brown on Monday - one day after the R&B singer, 19, was arrested for assault and making criminal threats.

The upstanding citizen said that Brown - who is currently under investigation for his alleged battery of girlfriend Rihanna, who was reportedly left badly hurt with horrific injuries following their ugly altercation - is doing OK.

"Yeah, I spoke to him today," T.I. said on Monday's Last Call With Carson Daly. "He cool, you know. He's still the same Chris."

T.I. told Daly he didn't know the details of Chris Brown and Rihanna's bloody altercation, but had a helpful tip for the star: "This too shall pass."

"We're celebrities, we're entertainers, but we're still human - all of us," he went on. "Don't expect us not to make mistakes, because we will."

NOTE: T.I. is scheduled to begin a year-long prison sentence in March after pleading guilty to possession of three unregistered machine guns and two silencers.

He was already a convicted felon at the time of the offenses, of course, making the charges even worse. Just the spokesman Chris Brown needs right now.

Chris Brown, who will be arraigned March 5, boarded a private plane leaving L.A. on Monday. Rihanna is expected to leave L.A. soon if she has not already.

Law enforcement sources are getting more specific regarding Sunday night's Chris Brown arrest - and cops who photographed Rihanna's injuries say they are "horrific."

The photos show major contusions on both sides of the singer's face - there is serious swelling and bruising. Her lip is split and her nose bloody.

Moreover, there are bite marks on one of her arms and on several fingers.

According to reports, Rihanna claims Chris Brown struck her with his fists and that's what did the damage. There was no object used in the alleged attack.

Rihanna refused treatment at the scene, but before she left cops took photos. According to reports, the photos alone are "devastating proof of abuse."

Also, it was not Rihanna who personally called 911. Someone in the area heard her screams during the alleged assault and placed the urgent call for help.

According to a source close to the investigation, Chris Brown "fled on foot" from the scene following the disturbing attack. Two officers from the LAPD found Rihanna in Brown's rented silver Lamborghini "beaten really badly and hysterical."

After an incident that saw Chris Brown arrested on what should have been a celebration the biggest night in music, new details have come into play.

The singer is under investigation for domestic violence, allegedly against his girlfriend Rihanna, and cops say additional charges may still be filed.

Brown rented a silver Lamborghini - the car in which he allegedly fought with Rihanna - from Platinum Motorsport in L.A. for $2,000 a day. That vehicle has since been impounded as evidence, with Chris footing the bill of course.

Meanwhile, TMZ has confirmed Rihanna is alleged victim in the Chris Brown case and the allegation is that she was assaulted with a deadly weapon. The crime report gives the victim's name as Robyn Fenty - her real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty.

Law enforcement sources say the crime report calls the incident assault with a deadly weapon - though the exact nature of the weapon is still a mystery.

Sources also say the typically book a suspect for the most serious crime he or she can be charged with - it's then up to the D.A. to file any additional charges.

Given there were allegedly visible injuries to Rihanna, the crime of making criminal threats may be viable - and is punishable by up to nine years in prison.

Domestic abuse, by contrast, only carries a maximum of four years.

On a lighter note (if there can be amid such a sad story), the completely unsubstantiated rumor going around the Internet regarding the cause of Chris Brown's alleged (and completely despicable) act of violence is this:
