Either Chris Brown and Rihanna have been sneaking around and trying to keep things on the down low, or New York City is a much smaller place than we thought.

A day after staying at the same hotel, supposedly without knowledge of the other's presence, Rihanna went out to dinner at Cipriani in the Big Apple on Tuesday.

Lingering on the street by Cipriani's in his SUV, looking nervous and talking to someone on his phone? You guessed it. Chris Brown. Homeboy was lurking outside.

Here are the hotties last night:

Having pleaded guilty to felony assault after pummeling her face to a pulp, Chris Brown's probation stipulates that he not get within 50 yards of his ex.

That's 150 feet, for those scoring at home.

This clearly violates that clause, but were they even aware of it? Did they meet up on purpose? For now, at least, these mysteries remain unanswered.

Not unlike the question of what the hell Rihanna was wearing.

People close to both Chris Brown and Rihanna are going out of their way to deny gossip about the exes secretly meeting up at a New York City hotel this week.

The rumor is not entirely unfounded, as it appears they both stayed in the same NYC hotel - the Trump International Hotel & Tower - unbeknownst to the other.

“Ri didn’t even know Chris was going to be in town, much less that he was in the same hotel,” said a friend of hers. “As for whether they are sneaking around together, she is not dumb, she would never mess around with him again.”

Chris Brown, who finally apologized for the savage beating he put on her in February, is also making sure that rumors tying the former lovers together are promptly shot down - although he has greater motivation to (probation).

Rihanna and Chris Brown did not meet up - but it was close.

“Chris is taking the court orders [to not get within 50 yards of his ex] seriously," said a Brown pal. "He has called Rihanna since discovering they were staying in such close proximity, but he has definitely not tried to see her.”

It's okay. We hear Kim Kardashian is available.

Since then, Brown has checked out of the Trump hotel, but remains in NYC for work: This week, he'll shoot the video for "Stronger," a duet with Mary J. Blige.

As for Rihanna, she's currently in the studio with Jay-Z and Kanye West working on her upcoming album. No collaborations with Chris Brown on the horizon.

Celebrities can afford personal chefs, personal trainers and lots of plastic surgery.

Still, Life & Style seems to think the reason why various stars look good in a bikini is a big mystery - and the tabloid is excited to reveal it in its latest issue!

A trio of beauties opened up to the magazine about their secrets behind their bangin bodies. Read what they have to say below...

Rihanna: "I like wearing a bikini with a cover-up that's loose, not too long and a little bit sheer... If I know I'm going on vacation, I'll do Pilates for two weeks straight."

Kim Kardashian, who tries to emphasis her iconic backside: "I love to put the treadmill on maximum incline and run backward. It's good to switch it up - run forward for 10 minutes, then backward for 10 minutes. Repeat for 40 minutes total and you'll really see results in your booty."

Kristin Cavallari: "I have very little hips, so a string bikini gives me curves and pushes up my boobs... I drink a ton of water and eat stuff that doesn't make me bloat, like fresh fruits and veggies."

Mischa Barton may be fighting for her life... but certain celebrities look good in bikinis! Which story would you highlight?

It doesn't change what happened, nor does it make it any less terrible, but a video has surfaced of a sincere Chris Brown apology to his fans and the public for the assault on Rihanna that took place back in February.

In a two-minute video, the R&B star says he is sad and ashamed of himself, and is not making any excuses for what he calls "unacceptable" behavior.

To his credit, most of Chris Brown's prepared, but classy remarks on the subject involve him needing to improve upon and repair his own character.

Brown opened the confessional by saying he wanted to publicly apologize much sooner, but held off under the advice of attorney Mark Geragos.

The singer, who pleaded guilty to assault last month, then tells his fans simply what says he's told Rihanna countless times since the incident:

"I am sorry."

When two stars of this magnitude go head to head in a celebrity fashion clash, there is no telling who will emerge victorious. Until you vote on it, that is.

Rihanna hit the streets of N.Y.C. for a day of shopping in her J Brand "Zombie" jeans, while Jessica Alba flaunted her new locks in similarly ripped pants.

Who wore the look better, the singer and part-time tattoo artist or the hot mom and part-time actress? Tell us below in our little informal survey ...

Police are investigating a New York City tattoo parlor, East Side Ink, because Rihanna decided she wanted to play tattoo artist earlier this week.

Wednesday night, three lucky people at East Side Ink got brand-new tattoos inked by the "Umbrella" singer herself. This is apparently illegal.

"She came by to hang out with us and her regular tattoo artist, Bang Bang," says East Side Ink owner Yadira. "He decided he wanted to get a tattoo from her and then two of the other artists decided they wanted to get one as well."

RiRi gave her buddy and the other artists one of her signature signs.

"She tattooed us for a change," says Yadira. "It's a little umbrella with a capital R. The second and third had a number two and a number three next to it."

But the NYC Health Department says tattooing without a license is illegal.

Will Rihanna be involved in more legal drama?

"Only licensed tattoo artists can administer tattoos in the city according to the City's Health Code," says NYC Health Dept. spokesperson Erin Brady.

Yadria counters it's only illegal if she is making a profit.

And as for Rihanna facing legal drama, an NYPD spokeswoman acknowledged that "Someone would have to make a complaint. There's been none."

Who would really complain? And would any minor legal matter faze her after getting her face flattened by Chris Brown earlier this year? Doubtful.

Yellow high heels? Fabulous.

Hoodie and no pants? Even more fabulous.

Rihanna covered up in a baby blue hooded sweatshirt and bared her legs as she stepped out of her Midtown Manhattan hotel on Saturday afternoon.

According to autograph seekers waiting outside her hotel, rumored new beau Rashard Lewis (of the NBA's Orlando Magic) was also there earlier.

Could their romance be real? What would rapper Drake think?

We'll have to wait and see. Here's Rihanna out shopping ...

Rihanna: Yellow Heels!

Only Rihanna would attempt this ensemble ... and pull it off.

On Sunday evening, Rihanna was MIA at the 2009 BET Awards but she did pick up two honors there, for Beautiful Hair and Viewer’s Choice (for her music video for “Live Your Life” with T.I.). Congrats, girl. You deserved them both.

Rihanna is set to take the stand as a witness against Chris Brown in his preliminary hearing today, with the festivities starting at 1:45 PM PST (4:45 EST).

Suffice it to say, her testimony is hugely important, an could potentially make or break the case against her ex-boyfriend. All bets are off at this point.

A few burning questions for today's hearing:

  • Will she stick to the story she told cops the night of the alleged beating? Rihanna said Brown had beaten her before and the violence was escalating?
  • Will Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos, cross-examine Rihanna?
  • Additionally, if the case goes to trial, will Geragos argue that she was the initial aggressor, repeatedly hitting him before he began pounding on her?
  • Will the photo of Rihanna's battered face be admitted? Or the pics that were supposedly taken the next day - after the bruising and swelling settled, and looked even worse - that were not leaked to the press?

The judge has rejected TV or livestream coverage for today's hearing, but we will be posting updates with additional information as it becomes available.

The ever-changing world of Rihanna fashion knows no boundaries.

Contrasted with some of her recent outfits (and hairstyles), this is pretty vanilla ... at least as much as something can be when you are talking about Rihanna.

She opted to skip pants (no complaints from Drake) to wear this Matthew Williamson jacket as a dress, while Beyoncé paired the leather coat with a pale dress.

So who wins this fashion clash, B or RiRi? Tell us below!

Defense efforts to delay Chris Brown's preliminary hearing failed as the California Supreme Court denied a motion by lawyer Mark Geragos to give him more time.

He sought to investigate further the leak of police photos showing Rihanna's battered face, which appeared on TMZ and may form the basis for Brown's defense.

The judge ruled earlier that the leak is not relevant to the case against Brown, at least as far as delaying a preliminary hearing - to determine if Brown will stand trial - right now. She indicated she may change her mind before a trial.

That means game on for Monday!

Don't expect any live streams from the courtroom, though. The hearing - at which Rihanna is expected to testify - will not be televised, a court spokesman said.

Los Angeles Criminal Court Judge Patricia Schnegg has decided against allowing cameras into the courtroom during Rihanna's testimony, Alan Parachini said.

Prosecutors are expected to call Rihanna, 22, as a witness Monday as they make their case that Chris Brown, 20, brutally attacked and threatened her.

Brown faces two felony counts - assault and making criminal threats - stemming from an early morning incident before the Grammy Awards February 8.

If Brown accepts a plea bargain, the hearing would be unnecessary. He would certainly like that to happen, however, the fact that no plea has been reached yet indicates the sides may not be close to reaching a mutually acceptable punishment.

Rihanna has cleared her schedule so she could be in court if prosecutors call her as a witness June 22, her lawyer, Donald Etra, said last month.

Brown, who was laying low for a few months after the alleged attack, has been out and about lately as his PR handlers try to remake his image.

He's been seen at lots of NBA playoff games, and even filmed a short video with Bow Wow on YouTube in May in which he said, "I ain't a monster."
