Renee Zellweger has a scrunchy face, but is a talent-filled actress. She's won an Academy Award.

A Monday night red carpet event that became a Renee Zellweger face transformation showcase still has the web talking and speculating three days later.

Renee Zellweger's dramatically different appearance left fans and entertainment industry experts wondering how, and why, she looks like THIS now:

Renee Zellweger Then and Now
Renee Zellweger in 2004 and 2014. Yes, that is actually the same person.

The 45-year-old Zellweger commenting that her new look is because she's so happy only fueled the debate and puzzled more than a few people.

In a statement, Renee did not address the rumors of plastic surgery and simply stated her new look was a result of a healthier lifestyle and natural aging.

According to a close confidante of Zellweger, that drastically different appearance we're seeing now is a clear sign of her insecurities, not happiness.

The insider, connected to Zellweger since the early days of her career, says the changes are hardly a big surprise, because "insecurities abound."

“Hollywood gets to people more than one would like to think.”

Yesterday, photos of Renee Zelwegger looking very different from how we remember her made the rounds online, and it's easy to see why.

This wasn't a simple case of dramatic weight loss or Botox gone wrong. The former rom-com queen legitimately looked like a different person.

Concerned Zellweger fans clamored for an explanation: Had Renee simply had a lot of work done? Is there some issue with her health?

In an effort to put minds at ease, the actress gave an interview with People magazine yesterday, and only ended up raising even more questions:

"I'm glad folks think I look different!" Renee said, perplexingly. "I'm living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I'm thrilled that perhaps it shows."

Renee Zellweger has attended relatively few red carpet events over the past few years, which makes the star's rare appearances even more noteworthy.

The most notable thing about last night's, however? Her face.

Her very striking, very ... un-Renee Zellweger-like face.

The 45-year-old stepped out for one of the biggest ladies’ nights of the fall season: The 2014 Elle Women in Hollywood Awards, at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills.

This woman in Hollywood was almost unrecognizable.

Check out the photos above, taken 10 years earlier, one year earlier and even just one month ago, compared to last night. Are we sure this is the same person?!

While she hasn't been a movie we know of since 2010, the Jerry Maguire and Bridget Jones' Diary star looks to have put a lot of work into her appearance.

When photos from last night hit the web, Twitter lost it.

As the old saying, goes "the bigger they are, the harder they fall."

Off the face off the planet, that is. In the case of certain celebrities, they're rising superstars one day and mysteriously disappeared sort of has-beens the next.

We're not just asking where are they now. We're asking where are they AT ALL! Have you seen these people? They might as well be on milk cartons ...

Freddie Prinze, Jr.
After firming up his 90s heart throb resume, Freddie Prinze Jr. went blonde for Scooby Doo and then disappeared. He's busy raising kids with Sarah Michelle Gellar.

While some stars make questionable job choices and inadvertently tank their own careers, the main reason celebrities leave the Hollywood lights is family.

Some celebrities get famous - and that fame goes straight to their heads.

They forget all the little people they stepped on while climbing up the Hollywood ladder, turning into massive jackasses in the process. (Let's be real. There's a good chance they were jackasses before they got famous.)

Other celebrities, however, use their powers for good, doing good where they can. Take Ian Somerhalder, who uses his platform and stardom to raise awareness of causes near and dear to his heart, such as the Ian Somerhalder Foundation, which helps find sources of green energy that are sustainable for all people.

But we're not just talking about those who are lending their star power to fundraising efforts for disasters large and small, though billions and billions have been raised through said efforts.

Today we're talking about stars like Amy Adams, who gave up her first class seat to a soldier; and Ryan Gosling, who quite literally saved a woman's life in New York City one day, proving he's got a hot body and a huge heart.

Check out 7 celebrity acts of kindness and then go do something good for someone else. Pay it forward, y'all.

In the real world, there are two rules to follow for a healthy work environment:

  1. Don't steal someone else's food from the fridge.
  2. Don't date your coworkers.

Both make for awkward water cooler run-ins and should probably be avoided.

Unless, of course, you're a famous movie star who dates other famous movie stars and you decide to date your coworkers. Then things just get interesting and awkward.

Especially when the characters you're portraying are together on screen.

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum
Channing Tatum met now-wife Jenna Dewan on the set of Step Up. She was totally impressed by his moves.

Why? LOVE SCENES. Look no further than Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman in Eyes Wide Shut to see what we mean. Pretty sure Keith Urban's neeeeeever watching THAT movie.

There's a faction among us who might say that people like Michael Sam would ruin the sanctity of marriage should gay marriage be made legal nationwide.

But those people obviously aren't looking at the frequent break-ups taking place in Hollywood. Stars who make it more than a year in a marriage are something of a novelty.

Five years? INCONCEIVABLE!

Britney Spears married Jason Alexander for a whopping 55 hours; Kim Kardashian was married to Kris Humphries for 72 days before they split (their divorce, however, took 581 days to be finalized).

The price tag on that fairytale happily-ever-three-months-from-now? Around $10 million dollars. (But her wedding to Kanye West? That's coming in at $30 million.)

INSANITY. And they're not alone. Far from it, in fact.

Take a look at the 13 shortest celebrity marriages ...

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline
Britney Spears and Kevin Federline made it only two years. Which was by FAR the longer of her two marriages, but that's not saying a whole lot.

If Bradley Cooper liked it, he would have put a ring on it.

That's the angle Renee Zellweger took over the last few weeks, as friends say this famous couple recently split due to the actress' desire to get married.

"She wanted a ring, and he just wasn't ready to propose," a source tells Pop Eater.

Both Cooper and Zellweger have been married before, with the former divorcing Jennifer Esposito in 2007 after just four months as husband and wife.

Renee was ready to give it another try with Bradley," an insider says. "She's 41 and has an Oscar. She's starting to think about children and settling down, while Bradley loves his life exactly as it is. It's taken him a long time to be an A-list actor, and he's enjoying all the perks, fame and opportunities that have come his way following The Hangover."

Along those lines, check out this teaser trailer for The Hangover 2. It comes out on May 26.

They had a great run, avoiding tabloid pages more than most Hollywood couples, but it's now over Bradley Cooper and Renée Zellweger. Multiple sources have confirmed their split.

The movie stars met in 2009 and moved in together last fall. No reason has been given for the split, but the pair actually made Star Magazine's cover this week, just a few days before the break-up went public.

Said Cooper in September: "I can't say enough about her. I just love her. I [loved] coming to work. I love acting with her. I can learn so much from her."

Speculation of a split first arose in February, though, when each attended a pre-Oscar party, but didn’t hang out as a couple at all.

The Bachelor finale. More racy Vanessa Hudgens photos. The enigma that is Charlie Sheen. What to put on the cover if you're a tabloid? How about ...

Bradley Cooper betraying Renee Zellweger?

Maybe Star Magazine is onto something big ... or just stopped paying attention to celebrity news about a week ago. No offense to Bradley and Renee, but ...

Bradley and Renee: The Betrayal

Even if you're the type of person who pays money for gossip tabloids like this in the first place, is this really a story you're going to drop everything and read?

Of course, this being Star, they also bring out the ol' standby - times two. Stock photos of Jessica Biel and Sandra Bullock equals evidence of betrayal! Score!

In Bradley Cooper news that's actually true, Limitless premieres Friday!
