Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen, who decided they were taking a break back in June, have officially ended their engagement, reports say.

"Yes, the engagement is off," Bilson's rep confirmed, without elaborating.

Distance was reportedly one of the main reasons for the split.

With the former OC star based primarily in L.A., and Christensen living in his native Canada, "It just wasn't working out," says a friend of the actress.

Now Bilson, who will appear on How I Met Your Mother a second time when the CBS comedy premieres in September, is "focusing on her career, spending time with her family and just moving forward," adds the friend.

The pair met on the set of Jumper in 2007, and got engaged the following year. We wish them both nothing but the best in this difficult time.

Engaged couple Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen are "taking a break," according to sources, one that may lead to a permanent end to their relationship.

Bilson flashed a ringless finger to Us Weekly on the red carpet of the Take No Prisoners event in L.A. Wednesday when asked how wedding plans are going.

"No, no plans," she said, pointing to her bare hand. "No nothing."

Well then. Quite the awkward moment for the reporter!

The couple, who co-starred in 2008 action flick Jumper, and got engaged in 2009, are "taking about a month off" and will revisit their future together then.

The self-imposed break began about two weeks ago, after Rachel watched him attempt to act in the Star Wars trilogy. Just kidding. But he was pretty bad.

We wish the couple the best ... whatever that may be.

Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen, her longtime boyfriend, got engaged quietly over the holidays, according to the New York Post's Page Six!

According to a friend of the former star of The OC, the gorgeous couple, who have dated for years now and co-starred in Jumper, got engaged in December.

"They're so excited," says the pal, adding that no wedding date has been set. "They're a great couple. Rachel seems thrilled beyond belief."

When contacted, Bilson's rep declined comment, saying "I don't comment on my clients' personal lives." Christensen's rep couldn't be reached for comment.

The Page Six snitch says a man sitting in front of Rachel Bilson on a Virgin America flight from LA to JFK Monday night with her mom saw a ring on her finger.

"He asked if she was married," says the Post source, who heard Bilson reply, "I'm not married, just engaged... I know I look like I'm 15, but I'm actually 27."
