Peggy Tanous, who has been open about her battle with postpartum depression and thoughts of suicide, is no longer a Real Housewife of Orange County.

In a Facebook posting today, the reality star resigned from the Bravo franchise.

"After months of negotiation and soul searching, I have declined their offer to return to the show," Peggy writes. "I just felt in my heart that being around the negative energy of certain cast members, being forced to have 'dramatic' confrontations and the time it would take me away from my family was just not a healthy path for me."

That's about as honest an answer as Tanous could provide, especially the part about how Bravo scripts "dramatic" confrontations.

In other franchise news, the network swears no cast member is leaving The Real Housewives of New Jersey. But you'll forgive us if we don't exactly believe anything at all about these supposedly Real programs.

The Real Housewives of Orange County took a break from drama-filled, scripted catfights last night and focused on an important issue: postpartum depression.

New cast member Peggy Tanous revealed that she battled the disease for three years, going into more detail with E! News about just how serious things turned.

"I [felt] so lost and depressed and overwhelmed that I had a thought of going upstairs and grabbing the gun," Tanous said of her suicidal thoughts. "There were days when I would wake up and I just didn't want to get out of bed... Thank God there were never thoughts of me wanting to harm my children."

Over the last year or so, other celebrities that have come out with tales about this infliction include Gwyneth Paltrow and Bryce Dallas Howard.

Says the 41-year-old mother of two says, who benefited from the aid of holistic supplements: "I'm in a much better place now, and feel almost pretty much back to normal. I have some bad days, but for the most part I feel pretty much back to normal... it's an ongoing struggle."

We wish her, and all women suffering from similar feelings, the best best of luck with it.

Peggy Tanous describes herself as the "life of the party," but it hasn't always been that way.

The new Real Housewives of Orange County cast member says she was partly inspired to join the show because she saw it as an opportunity to recover from postpartum depression, something she battled after the birth of daughters London, 3, and Capri, 1 1/2.

"It was kind of a perfect way for me to kind of get me back in the swing of things but not take me away from my family too much," says Tanous, who is friends with Alexis Bellino.

While Tanous tells Us Weekly she has a "strong personality," she also insists that she gets along with her fellow stuck-up cast members.

"I didn't clash with anyone! Tamara [Barney] and I hit it off the most. She's got a daughter a couple years older than London and our personalities are alike. She's really funny and she jokes around a lot and so do I."

The Real Housewives of Orange County returns to Bravo on March 6.

Not much is known about Peggy, but she's a close friend of current cast member Alexis Bellino. Sources have told Radar Online that Tanous is "truthful and blunt."

In other show casting news, Simon Barney will NOT appear again on the series, but viewers will see a lot of Tamra Barney's new boyfriend, Eddie Judge.

Judge and Tanous join established Real Housewives Barney, Bellino, Vicki Gunvalson and Gretchen Rossi.
