Patrick Swayze's widow, Lisa Niemi, is engaged to Albert DePrisco, a 58-year-old jeweler. He proposed on Christmas Eve after a year and a half of dating.

Niemi first went public with DePrisco last October in Miami.

The duo met through a mutual friend at a birthday party.

Reports surfaced last month claiming Niemi and DePrisco were headed for marriage. She allegedly bought a condo in Boca Raton, Fla., to be close to him.

Swayze and Niemi married in 1975, and were together until his death in 2009 from pancreatic cancer. She waited three years to remove her wedding ring.

So why'd she take it off?

On the first elimination show of season nine, Dancing with the Stars paid tribute to Patrick Swayze.

The actor, who passed away last week, appeared as a mentor on the competition's first season.

One of his most-remembered roles was as dance instructor Johnny Castle in Dirty Dancing, a movie the ABC series honored with a few classic routines last night. No one puts Cheryl Burke in a corner...

As for the actual results, Macy Gray and Ashley Hamilton were sent home, providing viewers with another hilarious week to watch Tom DeLay acting more flamboyant than Adam Lambert.

We can't wait.

As the man who refused to put Baby in a corner, Patrick Swayze appeared on the first season of Dancing with the Stars.

He appeared for an episode in order to assist friend and fellow actor John O'Hurley learn a few moves.

With that connection in mind, the show is planning a live tribute to the late actor - who passed away this week from pancreatic cancer - during its results show on September 23.

“He was one of the few people to integrate dance with being an A-list actor,” said producer Conrad Green. “He inspired many people and many of our pros to dance. We want to honor the great moments he’s brought to film by getting our dancers to do their interpretation to some music from his films.”

Two of those dancers, of course, are Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. The engaged couple broke up this month, but will both appear on season nine of the competition.

Watch the former practice with Aaron Carter, and the latter get really frustrated with Debi Mazar, after the jump.

Following an extended battle with cancer, Patrick Swayze passed away today. He was 57.

The veteran actor was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January 2008. He died this afternoon at home, with family by his side, confirmed Swayze's rep, who added:

"Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months."

Said Ghost co-star Whoopi Goldberg of her friend:

"Patrick was a really good man, a funny man and one to whom I owe much that I can't ever repay," says Goldberg, who won a best supporting actress Oscar for her role in the 1990 romantic drama. I believe in Ghost's message, so he'll always be near.

Aside from Ghost, Swayze was best known for roles in Dirty Dancing, and Road House. He was named People's Sexiest Man Alive in 1991.

Audrina Patridge going public with Tal Cooperman was actually not the most exciting news from the weekend.

Patrick Swayze - who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March - is successfully battling his disease and heading back to work!

A&E has ordered 13 episodes of The Beast, a show in which Swayze portrays an unorthodox FBI veteran who trains a new partner while being pursued by a secret Internal Affairs team.

Cancer, Shmancer! Patrick Swayze is going back to work.

"I have searched for quite a long time to find a character that is this multi-layered, unpredictable and downright entertaining, as well as a project this current and cutting-edge," Swayze said in a statement.

We wish him the best.

The following piece of entertainment news was taken from The National Enquirer, making it less reliable than Britney Spears when called in to court.

We hope we'll be able to print a retraction of this shortly, but the aforementioned tabloid states that Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He only has five weeks to live, the newspaper reports.

"For the past month, Patrick, 55, has been traveling to Stanford University's prestigious cancer center in Palo Alto for radical chemotherapy, but his doctors are no longer optimistic that the treatments will be successful," states the magazine.

An insider reportedly said that: "He was told he could have two more treatments, but his cancer was not responding. In short - they held out little hope for a cure."

Swayze is best known for his role in Dirty Dancing, the dance-off classic that spawned such hits years later as You Got Served and Step Up 2 the Streets.
